During our visit to the Pecan Street Festival in Austin Texas this past weekend, came across Holman Pottery booth. Lots of nice pieces. I saw the *jug-o-lantern* pieces. Of course, each one had their own expression making it difficult to choose. Picked one with a *Surprised* look on it’s face. Too cute.

I passed this little joint on the way to a business meeting about 3 weeks before December holidays. After my meeting, still looking for that handcrafted gift I knew my wife and artist would love, I had to stop by. You know its location by the flag out front, and the greeting I got from Tony Holman was amazing. He and I collaborated on a single custom piece, which he hoped to have completed before the holidays. What an experience! Not only was his pricing amazing, the custom order was ready 4 days early, and my artist SO was very impressed with his skill. What a well run specialty business. I hope to find a reason to do more with them, but I know my wife will be bragging for months. Thanks Tony!

What a fun place. Today I carved a jug-o-lantern(jack-o-lantern made out of pottery). The owners are upbeat and helpful in showing you how to carve. The gift area is a fun mix of their own pottery and other artisans work — glassware etc. A relaxed atmosphere in an 1890 Queen Anne style Victorian cottage on a half acre in the Haggard Park Historic District near Historic Downtown Plano.

The traditional 9 year anniversary gift is pottery, so I went to Holman’s. for less than $ 50 I got a nice little heart shaped bowl, a stopperless salt shaker, a tour of the facility, and a nice conversation with the potter. My wife loved the gift, I enjoyed visiting and supporting a local business. Stop in, really great stuff.
