Came here for the 4.99 vegetarian lunch special and I loved it! The portion is perfect and presented in an extremely pleasant manner. I tried the Northern India special next time I’ll make an effort to try the southern Indian special. Restaurant was extremely clean service was fast and staff was very polite and hospitable.

This restaurant is ridiculously priced for what they serve. $ 6 plus tax for Idly?, $ 6 for upma? I am pretty sure there is a 300% markup at least. The food portions are ridiculously sized for what they charge you. Food is decent. I like the Butter Masala Dosa. I would agree for such prices where Indian Food is rare. But in DFW ?? Nope, me thinks not.

I really like this place, the food is mostly good, they do have off days but not too many, the prices are cheap and the portions are good but what’s off putting is the wait staff and the host. Those guys do not know what they are doing. The food does not come out together, half of our party got their food pretty quickly while the other half was sitting almost 20 minutes after that and we weren’t even a big party. They usually mess tables up too, your food could go to someone else and vice versa. Despite all this, we do keep going because the food is good. I just hope they can find good wait staff.

This place is considerably small. But their south indian food is delicious. The portions are good as well, and quality has always been consistently good. This place is always crowded, so the loud noise cannot be avoided I guess. Hence the 4 stars in lieu of 5.

Only good for dosas! However the last dosa ordered was not even delivered and while we were waiting they asked if there was anything else or should they get the bill. When asked about the dosa, they said it was not even started.(?duh?) Dosas: 8⁄10 Thali 2⁄10 — Stale fried potato — Sambhar was conveniently replaced by a daal which was stale and burnt. when asked, staff did not know the difference and had to ask 3 times to replace it — Rasam lukewarm Service 4⁄10 Tremendous room for improvement.

Had dinner at kesari two nights ago. The place was nice and clean, the wait staff seemed a little dazed and confused when i asked questions about their menu. But other than that it seemed to offer the standard vegetarian dosa/idili and various indian snack items. It was average at best. My wife ordered the rava dosa, and i got the mini thali which consisted of three curries(allu gobi, rasma, methi malai curry), rice, roti and raita. The curries seemed pretty stale i guess they could have been left overs from that days lunch. The rasma is the only thing that tasted legit… the methi malai was quiet sweet, i’m going to asume this is their gujrati offering. I guess it was ok if you’re into sweet curries … not my cup of tea. Overall it was mediocre. I would avoid the thali if you’re going here for dinner. The dosa looked decent and tasted much better.

Best vegetarian restaurant in town. All the items are awesome. Pongal, Medhu vada and Kuttu paratha needs special mention. Homely taste

Food is delicious, prices are absolutely reasonable, portions are perfect and consistency is impeccable. They had the best kothuparatha in town but don’t make them anymore. Fully recommended…

This establishment is very famous for authentic south Indian cuisine but honestly except for the awesome idli, everything else was very typical — nothing ground breaking different. May be I had high expectations. Seating is very limited and its fast food type operation — you order food, take token and then try catching a very rarely available open seating. Do not even attempt to go on busy time on weekend with growling stomachs — you may get irritated. definitely worth trying once but repeat?, i am not sure about that.

In an effort to keep their prices low I think, these guys cut corners. While the north mini thali is delicious, the quantity is sinfully less. For instance, my palak paneer had two pieces of paneer, malai kofta hai one kofta, and my mutter paneer had no paneer at all. Rating it 3 stars as the food is really very delicious, even though the entrée is smaller than an appetizer. Order double and you’ll be a happy diner(although, if both of your plates have no paneer in them, you sir are sadly out of luck then!!)

Horrible place. Ordered food and got nothing for 25 minutes. Then was told that kitchen is closed before I even got my food! Very rude staff. Not at all recommended

Yes, it is a small place and the place was packed! I think that place can only hold 50 people. There were lots of Indian(looking) people eating there, so this is a good thing right? The was food was good, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to come here when they are very busy. I wasn’t a fan of the Masala Butter Milk beverage, because I think there was something gone bad. Every time I took a sip something in me was telling me to stop. If you don’t know what to order I recommend ordering from what you see looks good from people’s plate. There is a tiny private room that can seat about 6 – 8, it was occupied when we were there and they seemed to be having a good time. You order first at the counter and they keep your tab open until you are done, so you can order more food if needed. The home décor was lovely. Despite the bad Masala Butter Milk drink experience, I’d like to try this place again when it is not super busy. The staff was nice and they did the best they can to serve everyone, but they seemed to had trouble keeping the place clean that day. My rating would actually be 3 ½ stars, because I would like to try them again.

Get the Mysore Masala Dosa because it was really good. I read that one person commented the filling was small but it wasn’t small at all. The filling was clumped but you have to spread it inside with your fingers. The crêpe was made with a certain type of rice flour. The crêpe which is the outer thin layer was crispy and flavorful. You get two dipping sauces which added more flavor. The food is mostly south India and all veggie. I was told that North India is where they eat the typical tikka masala and naan. Either directions the foods are fantastic! The south India dish was unique and had different types of flavors. I mention flavors a lot but I don’t know what was used to make the foods. The servers there were kind enough to teach us how to eat the food and gave us some interesting facts. This place is a must try if you like Indian food.

It has been 35 mins since I have placed the order, but absolutely no food has arrived on the table. Even after repeatedly enquiring the waiter, after 35 mins, the problem is they have missed the order. The waiter rudely says, «you can leave, if you don’t want to wait». Just because the restaurant has become famous doesn’t mean they can ill treat the customers and be so rude to customers. If the manager is ever going to read this review, I suggest to please look into this issue. This has happened twice to me in this restaurant and I used to be a regular customer with this restaurant. They can check the records as well with respect to this. I have recommended this one to many of my friends as well. What kind of waiter says,” you can leave if u don’t want to wait” after making me wait 35 mins! It’s outrageous Usually there is lady handling the requests and acts as a manager. I am sure if she had been there today, it would have been prevented and would have treated us in a better way, atleast in a polite manner

So lets just mainly focus on the food quality here vs the customer service. You go in and order at the cash register and they bring it out to you. They don’t care if you got the masala dosa, they will just drop the plate in front of you and you can adjust it to whoever ordered that plate, haha. so yeah no quality customer service here! Moving on, i got a butter masala dosa, and I have never got this before, but I wanted to eat unhealthy and so I got this and it was so freaking good. The sambhar was tasty but not one of the bests I have had. I finished my dosa with enough sambhar left, so I am not able to confirm if you are able to request more for free or not. My mom got the masala rava dosa which she also enjoyed! My brother and father got the daily special on Sunday which was chole bhatura. Coming from a Punjabi family they did not enjoy the chole much but then again they shouldn’t have ordered something they were expecting to taste like a Punjabi dish at a South indian restaurant, so shame on them, haha! My brother wanted to get the bill for my dad’s birthday so I let him have it… It was just $ 32(with tip) to feed a family of 4! Awesome!

This place really delivers! It’s purely vegetarian and serves North and South Indian cuisine on their menu. This cozy little place is always buzzing with business because they serve quality food and provide great service. I love getting their mini thali meals — you can choose either North or South Indian and they have their meals picked out depending on the day. One of my favorite menu items aside from the thalis are the dosas! Mysore masala dosa is one of the best — a great mix of spicy and flavorful potatoes on a crispy fluffy dough, yum! Also, you should try the kesari dessert after which the restaurant is named. It’s a nice treat that will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth! Definitely check this place out — they also do take out, so you have no excuses :)
