I only marked 4 stars because I have no way of comparing the quality of this surgeon over another. I can say that his personality and patient interaction manners are excellent. I took my child for wisdom teeth extraction. As much as people hope for no pain and a quick recovery, you should know that every person heals and reacts differently. I will talk about our experience only.
The overall procedure took approximately 1 hour for 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. Due to sedation and local anesthesia, my child felt no pain for the first few hours after surgery. The general anesthesia caused nausea and vomiting after the surgery, but they prescribed medicine to help minimize the nausea. I believe this may only happen with certain people and only lasted the first day. Bleeding continued for a few hours on the first day only, but guaze was given to help clotting. The pain was manageable with advil and tylenol only on the first day, but had to stay ahead of the pain by taking advil and tylenol as prescribed. The doctor prescribed pain killers and steroids also to help reduce swelling, but we opted not to use them. There was no pain on the second day, but the jaws were stiff and difficult to open the mouth for the first week, which was expected and normal. Swelling began right after surgery and lasted about two weeks, which is also normal. Steroids may shorten that time period by a week, but we opted not to take it. All the post operation care instructions given were easy to follow, but required diligence to keep up.
The doctor handled our follow up and questions very well. Everything the doctor stated about healing process and time was accurate. Although I was concerned about the way the gums looked in the first few days, I was happy to see it all normalize by the end of the second week.
I feel confident to return for the same procedure for my other kids. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see the doctor and the staff were helpful and nice to us.

Ok so I’m a chicken of MONUMENTAL proportions — like I have FEATHERS under my arms but my experience with EVERYONE in Dr. Pavelka’s office has been phenomenal. I went in with 7 impacted teeth to be removed– YUP i said 7 and Dr. Pavelka removed 5 of the 7 because he gave a full consultation and explained how it was better for me. Have you ever been to an office and felt like there was a disconnect between the staff and the Physician? Here? Not so! EVERYONE is UBER professional, comforting, welcoming, and all around great people. I’d love to see them again… just NOT for this service again if I could help it. Doesn’t hurt that Dr. Pavelka’s a cutie!!! :)… You need a good surgeon? Go See Dr Pavelka. You’ll be glad you did!!!
