Oh my! Well, we were looking to take our elderly aunt to dinner the night before heading home from Plattsburgh, and this place is close to her house. We arrived at approximately 7:30PM, and the place looked pretty dead. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to sit down or upstairs, and we chose the lower level, simply because our aunt is very bad with stairs. From almost the moment we sat down, 4 men at the end of the bar regaled with extremely loud tales of anuses and sentences punctuated with the«F» word. Actually, it also stood in for several words, was used as an exclamation, and was simply added to the beginning, middle, and end of various sentences. They certainly showed the diversity with which it could be used. By the time we were about halfway through our meals, my husband had had it. We asked the waitress to please ask them to tone it down. She said that she would«let the bartender know.» 20 minutes later, the bartender still had not said anything to them. We asked for the manager. The bartender finally made her way over(apparently, she is the manager as well) and said, «I’m really sorry, but I can’t ask people who are here all the time to lower their voices. This is all the bar area, and they are here all the time, Even if I asked them, that wouldn’t tone it down, etc, etc, etc…(insert generic excuses here)» She did offer to move us upstairs(90% done with our meals by this point), and we explained that our aunt has a hard time with stairs, which was why we sat downstairs to begin with, and explained that even if it is a bar area, other people should be able to hold conversations. The bottom line was, the normal din of a bar would have been absolutely fine. Had there been a game on that people were really getting into, the noise would have been understandable. That is not what this was. This was 4 aging frat boys SCREAMINGOBSCENITIESOVERANDOVERAGAIN and«management» REFUSING to say anything to them. The bartender came over and again apologized, said we could call her manager/owner on Monday, etc. We told her it was fine, there are plenty of places to eat in Plattsburgh, and we will not be returning. She again said(loudly, because even standing close to me, I could barely hear her over the buffoons at the bar), «I COULD ask them to tone it down, but they won’t. They are regulars, and are here all the time, etc…» We asked for the check, which was brought promptly by the waitress. I must note here that my husband and I are not offended by swearing. In fact, if swearing was a professional sport, we could definitely hold our own, but this was 8:00 at night – dinner hour– and we had our elderly aunt with us. It was embarrassing and ridiculous. Sad, because the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, we will drive right past this place next time.

Good food and a pretty solid beer selection. One of the better bars in the Plattsburgh area, and the spacious patio seating is definitely a plus. Nice atmosphere and décor, and there are huge screens to watch games on, which is nice. Trivia night is also fun as well.

Strange experience last night. Twice this week have heard an ad on the radio that Geoffrey ’ s was keeping the kitchen open until 11:00 on all Men’s Hockey home games. We made arrangements to meet a friend there after the game. At 9:45 when we arrived we were greeted with«kitchen is closing shortly». Hostess knew nothing about the ad, saying«It must be an old ad». She didn’t seem to care that we heard it yesterday, so we left and found a more welcoming restaurant.

Good food, good staff, and great beer. Not the best upkeep on the building. Great outside seating.

We used Unilocal to find this place on a trip while trying to avoid eating at a chain restaurant.. NOTE– The sign outside simply says PUB, not Geoffrey’s PUB. It’s large place with the inside divided into the bar and restaurant sections, as well as plenty of outdoor seating where we sat. The inside and outdoor sections were immaculate. The waitress was incredibly friendly and spoke with us at length and the menu and the area. It offers a menu of traditional American faire including wings and tenders, soups, and build your own burger. We went with the English style fish and chips and bangers and mash, while Mom went with the veggie primavera with shrimp. All were fantastic, my fish was cooked perfectly. The poutine app was awesome, I seldom get it the way I like it. The prices were right in line with what the dishes were worth. A great place if you’re in the Plattsburg area and want to avoid a chain place as well, it’s highly recommended.

The bloody marys were weak and tasted like pure cocktail sauce — someone was a bit heavy handed with the horse radish. They were too thick, too. Apparently, this part of the country is ignorant of the concept of the ‘beer chaser’, otherwise I’d have diluted mine with a splash of pilsner. But, $ 3.50 is darned cheap for a bloody so I’m happy with it. The service was fast & friendly. Our server was a real sweetheart. My fish & chips were delicious. The haddock filet tasted fresh and was prepared well. The steak fries were yummy with malt vinegar. I’d definitely order it again. My husband was disappointed with his bacon cheeseburger. Lesson learned, never expect good cheese outside of Wisconsin(except maybe in Vermont)! He ordered it medium-well, but it came out pretty rare. It’s the first time in nearly 15 years that I recall him only eating half of his burger. But, overall, we had a pretty enjoyable experience.

I’m not sure who stops for a sit down meal on a long drive home… but that’s exactly what we did last night because fast food was not an option. Our previous experiences driving through the adirondack’s with no cell phone reception and no sign of civilization from the main road prepared me to be proactive. As soon as I crossed the border I looked on Unilocal for some decent eats in the area… I was primarily interested in fish n chips and since this place wasn’t too far off the thruway, we went for it. Although I was concerned that the quality of the food might be subpar because the pub was the main draw. We went into the dining room and the waitress was swamped, she was the only one working and had tables both inside and on the patio. Her attitude was positive but she was clearly overwhelmed. We spent an hour and a half and $ 50. We ordered fish n chips, shepherds pie(made properly with lamb), French onion soup, and a a French dip. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t spectacular either. The fish n chips were food… a nice piece of haddock that wasn’t overly battered or greasy. The French onion soup was interesting because it used pumpernickel bread but it was baked just a few minutes too long. The shepherds pie and French dip totally lacked flavor and required condiments and gravy to make it edible… overall not too bad for roadside food but definitely not dining out quality.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good food. The only problems with the place are its English style beer, by English I mean warm. And it is a full service bar and restaurant with a fairly large capacity with only one men’s and one woman’s bathroom. That’s a big problem on busy weekend nights.

This is a traditional English Pub style Restaurant. They offer some English trademark dishes such as fish & Chips, Banger’s & Mashed, and Shepherds Pie. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was Trivia Night. Although I like a good trivia match to have some fun, we were just dining and because of the extra mayhem the service was substandard. The waitress was trying to set-up tables for the college crowd coming in for trivia. The Banger’s & Mashed was pretty good. 3 English sausages. The downside was they did not dress the potatoes like they do for traditional. Overall worth the low price. A colleague of mine had the fish and chips. He said it was good. Only one piece of fish though and not a traditional beer batter coating. Another colleague had the club sandwich and another had a wrap. REAL Turkey which was nice. The bread also looked homemade. Overall nice setting, for the price a decent meal. Definitely for the college crowd.

The Triple Sec @ Geoffrey’s, in fact, has alcohol… Some of these reviews are not very accurate, they just seem to be bitter ex employees that couldn’t handle bartending or the restaurant business in general. I’ve been there on many occations and have had wonderful service.

Among the bars in DT Plattsburgh, among which there are many, Geoffrey’s is a bit off the beaten path, but worth the treck. Geoffrey’s is more of a relaxing sit-down bar, with a glut of locals, and English food. The best thing about Geoffrey’s is their trivia night. Sign up a team and let the fun begin. Its a great way to spend a weekday night, and you can pair it with a nice beer selection and pretty good food(they have fried ice cream, mmm!). Geoffrey’s also has a large and pleasant outdoor seating area, which is really nice in the spring and summer months. One great thing about this bar is that there are three separate areas: one for eating, a bar area, and the back porch. All of which are distinct so you feel comfortable no matter what you choose to enjoy. They also feature a fish and chips special, which is a good deal fro some yummy fish.

Their food is nothing orgasmic, but the atmosphere is great and it’s NOT a chain restaurant(which is a huge plus for me). The fish and chips is always very good — huge serving and cooked to perfection. My niece gets the pulled pork and loves it. The homemade chips at the table, when not over-salted, are hard to stop eating. The beer selection is what brings me back over and over again. This is a great place to have business dinners(which we have) and to have a leisurely meal with friends and family. While not mind-blowing, it’s always tasty and the service is attentive. I like that it’s off the beaten path a little…

geoffrey’s has a bit of a different feel than the typical plattsburgh bar. they have a bunch of good beers on tap, a less rowdy atmosphere than margaret st bars, and a cozy loungey area where you can come hang out in your sweater and khakis. so why only three stars? cuz i LOVE the typical plattsburgh bars. when i come home i don’t wanna sit around and behave, i wanna pound labatt blue and jack all night with my friends and remind the college kids of why they hate«townies». i wanna see people getting kicked out for being too drunk. i wanna see fights on protection ave. i wanna see cops having to tell people«downtown’s closed» at the end of the night. you know, REAL plattsburgh stuff. so i’ll always opt for monopole, woodstock’s, or peabody’s over geoffrey’s. plus the music sucks.

Beer and English-style food. Can you possibly go wrong in a college town? Nice outdoor seating during the 3 months of warm weather we have up here.

I love this place. I went there all the time with my college buddies. This pub had the best selection of beer, in Plattsburgh, for a bar. The bartenders were friendly enough for me, and given that I am used to city prices for booze, this place was awesomely cheap. The typical crowd was actually townies but because we couldn’t deal with the other bars(and their very lame beer selection), we chose this place to spend lots of money. I don’t go up and visit too often(most of my friends have graduated, except for the college late bloomers, and slackers), but when I do, we go to this place. They have plenty of seating, and the billiards table was a great way for me to hustle(loser paid for game, and I normally won, so it’s kind of like I made money… in the form of billiard games). Also, if I could actually edit the business, I could put up the website:
