I really wanted to like this place because it’s a local, family-owned business. And I hesitated to leave this review because I didn’t want to ruin their reputation, but… First off, it’s EXPENSIVE. Especially for the amount of food you get and the quality of the ingredients. It’s a step up from Cub or Wal-mart, basically. You can go to Byerly’s and get even better sushi that is more culinarily diverse in larger portions for the same price. The selection here is small and very basic for the price charged. I am not thrilled about paying nearly premium prices for«freshly made,» very simple and basic sushi by a guy who obviously isn’t even classically trained as a chef. FYI, this place doesn’t even have tempura items. What kind of sushi place DOESN’T have tempura? That being said, the place *looks* nice enough. If they had a more diverse menu and gave larger portions, I would have given this establishment maybe 3 stars. Too bad.

I need to remind myself not to eat here. Prices are high for what you get. Mediocre sushi(crunchy, not soft avocado) serve on plastic plates. Service is fine, but nothing to write home about. Avoid the bathroom, it is a bit scary.

A real gem in Plymouth. They provide good quality fish for a fair price. The dinning room is a bit sparse but it will work if you’re on the go. I really like the smoked salmon and cream cheese roll. Give it a shot!

This place is delish! I had the Hawaii roll and the Philly roll. Both very good.

Good solid sushi. It’s not quite the caliber of, say, Origami or Fuji-Ya, but it’s definitely several steps above grocery store sushi. The fish is fresh and tasty; my main complaint is the rice– it doesn’t seem to be the small grained sushi rice. Cheap prices and very friendly owners. Recommended for sushi if you are in the western ‘burbs and don’t feel like driving downtown Minneapolis.

This is my first choice for sushi when ordering take out for work. I love to eat there because the owners are always friendly and serve excellent sushi. Hate that it’s in the strip mall, but it does provide for a less crowded lunch option.

I love this mom and pop(literally) shop and try to stop in whenever I’m in the northwest burbs. They have pretty decent lunch specials and an amazing spicy tuna roll.

Great sushi and friendly family service. Great for a lunchtime bento box of sushi!

They raised their prices about $ 2-$ 3 for each roll which makes the pricing similar to sushi restaurants such as Origami in Minnetonka and Mt. Fuji in Maple Grove. I wouldn’t eat inside if I’m dining out since it’s very small and doesn’t feel like a restaurant. I would only order from here if I wanted takeout and still wanted good quality sushi. I’m keeping the four star rating since the quality is still good.

Sushi of Tokyo is an awesome place to stop for great takeout or dine-in sushi in the ‘burbs. Don’t mist their noodle soups either. Their wonton udon noodle soup is the perfect solution for cold and dreary days. The prices are great and they have a happy hour from 7 to close, all sushi in the case is 50% off. The owners are so nice and make the sushi for you while you wait so it is super fresh. If we’re really hungry, we’ll get a huge plate of sushi with around 4 – 5 different rolls. They have all you can eat Sushi after 4pm on Sundays for around $ 20 per person which is another solid value. Their food is always very fresh and the fish is never fishy or old. Really good value for a quick sushi fix.

If you’re like me you looked at the name, then the location, and then you rubbed your eyes. If I were to play the food/neighborhood association game with people, they might say sushi for uptown or downtown, but never Plymouth-town. But, rest assured that however improbable, it is true, you can find good Sushi here. They have a full menu including all the sides you’d expect. They serve it up fresh, and on Sundays there’s a resonable(~$ 18) all you can eat. The staff is friendly and the service is quick.
