Overall I thought the experience was ok. It would have been better but the service was bad. We were shoehorned with a waiter in training but not told about it. Only later was I told about our waiter situation because apparently I was not important enough to know. The food was decent. I ordered a broiled flounder that was average and my friends ordered burgers which were above average The restaurant was a high volume level with casual ambience. It was ok and slightly above average at best

Awesome food ! Portions are huge and good. Staff is very attentive. Nachos are a meal in itself. Definitely will be back.

Great restaurant! I find myself regularly here and decided to finally write a review. It is much deserved. The staff is always very friendly and food is consistent. Fairly priced. Can get a little busy during dinner and weekends. There is a reason why! I recommend checking it out and can guarantee you will be back often.

Service has become abysmal. Yeah the burgers are ok but not worth the crappy service. If you like sitting with an empty glass for 10 – 15 mins then this is your spot to be. Keep in mind, sh! rolls down hill and the manager here I’d full of it!

Quite a few of my friends have highly recommended this place. Each said the burgers are the best along with their other food being great. So we finally thought of trying this place. The place is small and seating is tight. We started with the calamari and nachos which were made perfectly. The nachos were covered in cheese. My wife ordered the Kobe beef burger which she said was delicious and my son got the kids bacon cheeseburger. The food is plentiful and very good. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Food varies in quality. Prime rib is very good. Pasta dishes not so good. French onion soup had to much bread not enough broth. Drinks, specially beers are pricey. For a local bar you should not be charging$ 6.00 for a beer off season. The atmosphere and décor are cool.

Can’t go wrong with this place. Everything is priced right and portions are generous for the cost. A little crowded in summer months but that is to be expected at any good shore place.

Frankie’s has been one of those places that we have driven by a million times on our way to the beach, always briefly thinking, «hey, we should go there someday.» Then the off season comes and we forget. We finally had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy the food and drink. When we walked in the place was PACKED, so we sat at the bar. Service was fairly quick and the beer selection included locally brewed beer. We ordered the Potato Skins, Calamari, Artichoke Dip, and Boneless Wings. Potato Skins were good, but aren’t they always? Artichoke Dip was also good, a fair amount of dip and perfect amount of chips to enjoy. Buffalo boneless Wings/chicken tenders were also good. A little too saucy but perfectly spicy. I don’t think the blue cheese dressing agreed with me(it was the only thing I ate that no one else touched, and the next day I had a stomach ache). The calamari was unreal in terms of size but mediocre in terms of taste. We got the full size portion for $ 12 and out came a mountain of Calamari. Seriously, a mountain of it. There was no way 5 of us were going to finish it with all the other apps we ordered too. I didn’t love it, but M did. Our waitress wasn’t exactly friendly and seemed annoyed once or twice, but I think that’s just her personality, so I didn’t take too much offense. All in all, a solid A-OK stop.

When I have the chance I like to go to Frankie’s for a late lunch at the bar. I usually have the same thing: French onion soup and a medium-rare plain hamburger. This makes me smile — the soup is hearty and the burger is simply and truly fabulous. Every thing about it is, to me, perfect. The place is authentic; service friendly and on point. I enjoy every visit.

This is a typical tavern where you should go for beers, burgers, and greasy appetizers and probably stay away from the fish and steak entrees(although I haven’t tried either). We ordered the potato skins which were AMAZING. I got a burger and onion rings which was fine. My cousin’s salad was bland made with iceberg lettuce, which I told her to avoid in the first place! She said the onion soup was too salty. Service was great. Go here for a fun lively atmosphere and a quick bite. For me, if I want steak I’m going to a steak house and if I want fish, I am going to a seafood place(you are in Point Pleasant!).

Frankie’s Bar and Grill in Point Pleasant, NJ is a locals bar with upscale great food and awesome drinks. Our Long Island Ice was made perfectly. Yeah!, they know how to make these at the Jersey Shore and the east coast. Wine was also a winner! The mixed drink was also a winner because if you’re a regular they’ll keep your fav bottle of booze for you in stock. The menu is upscale and is posted on the chalk board. Seriously everything is upscale. No generic cheap quality food. We ordered prime ribs meals that came with really tasty good medium sized salads and a choice of baked potato, fries and another side(sorry don’t know). The horseradish sauce had incredible flavor!!! Prime rib was tender. No complaints. We sat at the bar for more excitement. I recommend sitting there. The place was packed on a weekday night but I feel the friendly staff gave us good service considering how busy it was. Highly recommend if you’re at Point Pleasant Beach in NJ. Unilocal Review #334

I’ll say first the food was fine. Pub fare, everything as expected. We were erroneously charged for an apple juice and the manager was such a jerk to the waiter, i was deeply saddened. I just wanted to give the poor kid a hug, must be an awful place to work. I wouldn’t bother going in there unless I was by myself and sat at the bar for a quick burger and beer. Don’t subject your loved ones to this joint.

UPDATE: I have been enjoying the Sunday Brunch… still the cool feel of local Legend … Same old group of guys at the south east corner of the bar… I enjoy sitting at the bar… My observation is… It’s looking tired. I still give it a 3 star.

Here is another reason to keep this joint rated two stars and I’m being kind at that — Jan and I stopped in a few months ago on a weekday and it was not busy at all, maybe six people at the bar, and we asked the bartender to make us 2 burgers grilled at the bar. His comment, I can’t do that it may get busy. The lazy JO went about his business which was doing nothing well and not another person came in over the next thirty minutes so we finished our one drink and walked out vowing not to go back again. Keep in mind that Frankie’s is owned by the same people who own Rod’s in Seagirt which is another also ran dive that has seen it’s day at the Jersey Shore. Don’t waist your time or money at either of these establishments as they are simply living on their reputation.

Continuing to eat my way through Point Pleasant Beach… I am getting fat, seriously. Things were looking good, got curb parking right at the door, FYI, warn the passenger on exiting the car, that 35 traffic is tight. The door opens right into the bar, nice first impression, big bar, lots of TVs with sports. The bar was comfortable and well lit, not brightly lit, just nicely lit. A Yueng and an Anchor Steam was ordered… Anchor Steam! don’t see that on draft in to many places. Good beer. We grabbed the potato skins, with cheese and broccoli for a snack. I think there were 6 or 8 in the order, I dunno, the sour cream gravy boat distracted me, nice amount. Hate those little paper cups of sour cream, not enough, ever. The skins were good and hot. More beer, then bacon cheeseburgers were ordered up. They were cooked right at the bar, and made with gloves! GLOVES! And the gloves were taken off to do other chores, don’t you hate it when gloves are worn and everything are touched with them on… what are they protecting? The burgers were a nice healthy size and good. Yeah cue the fat comment again. Chips are the side, with a pickel and slaw. I’d order it again. Happy hour was set up, sammiches, wings and pasta, looked good. Oh and another note the customers to our side ordered some kind of brownie sundae… whoa. another time. The prices were a little bit higher then the other joints in the area, but the place is a bit higher caliber, you get what you pay for. The cost drops it to 4 stars, but the food and wait staff were very good. This is at the top of our PP food stops, we may be back.

In my never ending quest for the perfect hamburger, as well as awesome local /dive bars to hang out at, I braved a particularly cold and crummy night to give Frankie’s a try. Situated about a block from the Pt. Pleasant train station, Frankie’s just *oozes* «Local’s Bar». It’s dimly lit, obviously an older building with some history behind it, and the floors by the bar are decorated in some pretty awesome subway styled motifs, really selling the joint as a place that’s stood the test of time. Since nobody comes to a bar just to gawk at the décor, on to the food. Our waitress was friendly and quick to refill our beers, of which they had a decent selection of, including several craft brews. When asked what I wanted, I didn’t need to even look at the menu: a cheeseburger with swiss, cooked rare as possible. At nearly $ 10, it’s a little on the pricy end for a bar, considering it only comes with cheap potato chips, but it came out quickly and was a good size, so that’s sorta forgivable. Just like I asked, it was perfectly rare and juicy all the way through, while still having a nice brown crust around the outside. A real decent burger, although I would have liked a little seasoning(pepper, salt, onion powder, etc), since all I got out of it was the flavor of the beef. Tasty, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think it’s the best in the area. If I go back, I’m probably going to have to stick to the sandwiches, since the actual entrees were crazy expensive. $ 19.95 for penne vodka with chicken? $ 18 for a pot pie? I’m not so sure about that — this isn’t exactly the same type of place as Moonstruck in Asbury. Either way, a good watering hole for some brews and a tasty burger to go along with it. Stick with those two things, maybe an appetizer or two, and you’ll have a great time.

For all the years I’ve been going down the shore I must’ve missed this place. Terrific 10oz sirloin burger, and they perfectly nailed my ‘rare’ request, which isn’t easy to do on the charcoal grill. Wonderful toasted poppyseed bun. I asked for my French onion soup to be well browned, and they did it perfectly, and the soup wasn’t the usual salt bomb that most restaurant French onion soups are. I’d prefer Gruyère to mozzarella, though. Our waiter was terrific. I guess the fact that it was jammed at 6pm on a January night speaks to their popularity.
