Not as good as strollos in Belmar. The flavors are weak… was on a Strollos Belmar kick for a week — disappointed when I tried Pt. Pleasant. Noticeably different in the flavors…

As a self proclaimed ice cream snob, I would say that soft serve is to hard ice cream, as frozen fish sticks are to the freshest caught fish of your liking.(Remember these from your SATs?) Sure they are basically very similar, but one is done in a mass marketed and convenience sort of way. I know this is an institution in this town, and has been around for a long time. But personally, I was not very impressed with the product. There was nothing bad about it, it is frozen cream of course. But to me it was indistinguishable from many other brands. I was surprised that since they specialize in this, more flavors were not available. There was maybe 5 tops. I had a swirl, chocolate was very light, and vanilla was probably made with an artificial extract. They also feature about that many flavors of Italian ice, next time I may try one. If I could offer the business one word of advice it would be to invest in a sign that lists the available flavors. There was nothing like that outside, and craning my neck to see inside revealed none either. The employee quickly told us the flavors, and to be honest did not seem all to happy to do so. One the plus side, it does have pretty good parking, and it goes down smoothly in hot weather. But if I were spending any more than a few days in this town, I would be searching out alternatives. 3 Unilocal

Chocolate Italian Ice — Meh! Found it overrated and just a touristy must-do in Point Pleasant. Probably one of those things that are supposed to be part of the overall experience and one’s memories from years ago — but since I don’t have those fond memories, the place totally failed to make a good impression!

Definitely a great place, family looks forward to treating ourselves during vacation at pt. pleasant every year. We’ve been going to Strollo’s for years and find every time whatever we purchased was delicious plus there are many flavors to choose from. Place is always clean and owners are very friendly.

My husband grew up going here while I’ve just been here a few times recently. Last time we went my husband ordered a chocolate ice while I went with peanut butter. The texture of my ice was good though I would have liked a bit more peanut butter flavor. Unfortunately, the chocolate ice was a flop. It didn’t really have any chocolate flavor — my husband said it tasted like caramel, not chocolate. We’ll still head back when we’re in the area and hopefully it’ll be better next time.

One of my favorite things about coming down the shore… ICECREAM… Get the peanut butter ice here — you wont be disappointed. Their soft serve is also to die for! Pretty much everything is FAB-U-LOUS! I always stop here when i come to point pleasant!

Another lifelong favorite… and another Italian ice review… oh yea another 5 star too! I have been going to Strollo’s Lighthouse ice since I was a little girl up in Long Branch and it is just as good as it always was. Nothing changes, except more variety nowadays. I was delighted when they opened up this location in Point Pleasant, close to my home and the beach! The ice is a delectable consistency almost a cross between ice cream and ice, yet still light. I love mixing flavors in a cup, or dish as they say, so I get more deliciousness in one shot! I ALWAYS pick vanilla, it is the BEST I have every had and no one can make it like they do — this is a MUSTTRY! Depending on what is out at the time, I will mix peanut butter or cantaloupe, sometimes pistachio. Or a duo of ice and ice cream, that is awesome too! The prices are super reasonable and staff is always friendly.

I’m only up here for a few weeks in the summer and this stop is definitely on my list. The Italian ices are smooth as silk and always a nice change from your usual ice cream. Hmm, now if only there was one down here in sunny South Florida…

Great Italian Ice. Try doing a mixed cup of orange italian ice and vanilla ice cream. Best mixture available.

Ehh really people, 5 stars? This place is great to look at, but thats as far as it goes. The ice is just ok, Ralhps is a few blocks down and its got more options and nicer people. I got the peanut butter, zzzzzzzzz, i have had waayy better. My friend of a simply chocolate milkshake. She had to take it back twice to have them add milk because it was like ice cream thick. After all that, its was still thick, and was the worst tasting chocolate i’ve ever had. Something was just off about this place, maybe its in the water. Pretty to look at, im sure the locals love it, but this out of towner thinks not.

Lighhouse Italian Ice is unlike any other italian ice. It comes out of a soft serve machine. Not conventional, but don’t let it deter you! It’s so amazingly good. I always get the vanilla ice. It’s perfect on a hot day. The vanilla is deliciously refreshing and is surprisingly creamy. My only problem with it is that it’s too far away from me in North Jersey! My sister’s dog spent two weeks at an emergency veterinary hospital in Red Bank. There’s another location not far from the hospital at all. When I accompanied my sister to bring Kona home(another issue entirely, I should review that hospital because they brought the dog back from the dead) we stopped at the Lighthouse. I kinda got two cups of ice because it’s just too good.

Yes, there is pretty much always a line and the tweeny-bopper counterhelp are inexplicably rude, but there’s no getting around it. You HAVE to go here on a daily basis in the summer, no questions asked. Sometimes twice a day. I’ve done it before and know many others who have as well. Tasti-D-Lite couldn’t be a better invention and paired with Italian Ice is just D-Vine. Nothing would make a long, hard day at the beach more complete than stopping here on the way home.
