The Athletic Factor

So I had been going to this Gym for about 3 weeks as a trial. Which is amazing to get a month long trial. Really lets you know If it is for you or not. I love that it is an old school gym. The equipment is certainly older but it is well maintained and offers much better workouts than a lot of newer equipment. They had some machines I hadn’t seen in years or seen at any other gym.
First impression I enjoyed the sea of hammer strength equipoment both plate and resitance. The dumbbell selection was great but I will say often mismatched which made it hard to find your weights. Always enough equipment to use and plenty of helpful people if you need a quick spot.
The cardio is a bit to be desired but for me this isn’t the gym you join to cardio. The leg area is killer, tons of different presses and 3 diferent squat racks.
The only negative was the bathroom being a bit dodgy and that the steam room is permantly broken. minor issues not really problems.
Long story short its a great gym if you are serious about lifting.

Horrible experience! Saw Groupon online so went to gym with girlfriend and tried gym with 3 day pass… Decided to join even though the cardio equipment is over 10 years old and feel like your running on big broken rocks. I wanted the gym for the leg equipment not cadio so I was still willing to join. When I went to join the owners wife told me and my girlfriend they would not honor the groupon because I previously had a 3 day pass??? The Groupon said you can not have a previous membership… The owners wife tried to convince me the 3 day pass was a membership making the Groupon not valid… Why would I buy a membership before I try? The owners wife told me to leave and get a refund… This is your classic bait and switch… This is what scam artists do to people… So I emailed the owner Mitch Berman who was just as rude as his wife. He said I was threatening him when I told him I was going to write a bad review. He then threatened to get me in trouble with Groupon. Not only did he threaten me legally he told me to «FIND ANOTHER GYM!»…The entire gym smells like urine and the machines are older than your grandparents… Save yourself the trouble and go to LA Fitness (Brand new 55,000 sq ft gym on US1 in Pompano) or the ZOO in ft Lauderdale. Mitch Berman is bad business person owning a disgusting gym that is very rude… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Absolutely amazing gym! Great ownership! Mitch and Hope are two of the best people I know! Larry and Jen with Perfect reps are amazing trainers! Best gym in Florida!

It’s so good to know that there is an amazing gym like the athletic factor, where you can get a real hardcore workout. Whether your the most serious bodybuilder or competitor or want to take a silver sneakers class, they have it all. Great shake bar. Super friendly staff, and amazing trainers. Plenty of pro’s in the fitness industry workout here. You will not find a broken machine, and no one to boot you for making to much noise. In an Era of a completely judgemental series of low end gyms, you will not be dissapointed. Unfortunately those who like to play games and disrespect the gym write slander and bad reviews. Want to thank AthleticFactor GymandFitness for making my transition here to South Florida so much easier. Having a gym that makes me feel like family has helped me immensely and I can’t thank the staff and management enough for all that they do!

Ive been a fitness professional for 14 years and have been to more gyms then I can remember, Athletic Factor is my home away from home. A new fancy LA Fitness or 24 Hour fitness it is not but if you want a gym with class act staff, members and great weight machines and great dumbells this is spot. If you want bells and whistles go elsewhere but if you want to get in shape and be motivated from all walks of life come here. From young to old, from amature to pro there are all sorts of members that can help share amd encourage your goals. Fitness is life.

If you’re looking for a place with good weights and machines, this is it! Yes the equipment is old but to me that doesn’t matter in the least. Plenty of weights and machines that are ALWAYS available! Even during peak gym hours you won’t have to wait for a machine or weights.
Staff is friend and the majority of the people that go are pretty friendly as well. At least come check it out for yourself.
Old but amazing!

I’ve been a member here for about 5 years, and will find an alternative next month. Although the gym is very well equipped with resistance machines and free weights. The cardio equipment is VERY POOR. Old worn out badly maintained elliptical units screech horribly through your work-​out, in testimony of their much needed retirement. Of the 5 step machines only one works, the others sit useless only to disappoint and remind the members of how dismal this gym really is. Tread mills although old and out dated, are (so far) the only reliable dedicated cardio machines.
Additionally (can’t testify for the ladies locker rooms) the sauna hasn’t worked for over 3 years and the members have a choice of 2 showers out of 4 (2 are broken)
I’ve mentioned this problem to several members of the staff countless times over the years, they are very aware of the problem. It appears they are powerless to address it because whatever ownership group is in control, is obviously quite happy with the status quo.
Don’t even consider this facility!
