Pompton Queen Diner

How have I not reviewed this diner before? It’s my #1!
This diner is a bit of a drive for me, so I don’t go as often as I’d like to, but the commute is always worth it when I do make the trip. I’m sure my food baby would agree.
Chicken fingers, Carolina burger, Sinatra burger, El Matador BBQ burger, sweet potato fries, Chicken Tuscany sandwich, Basil Pesto chicken sandwich, and the classic benny. THEY’RE ALL SO GOOD.
The service and prices are great too.
For the love of food, please give this diner a chance.

We don’t come here as much as we used too. Got tired of the waits, sometimes about 20 mins. Best to come during the week, not weekends. Just came here on a Monday night around 6 pm & there was at least 10 tables open. Nice! The food is all very good. A lot to choose from. Service seems better if you sit at a booth. Beth is the best waitress here. She’s very nice, friendly, & on top of things. Never lets your drinks go empty. 1 male waiter, I can’t remember his name, is a nice guy, but his service is a little bit slacking.

Best diner around. Had the mile high sandwich and it was delicious. Not to greasy and a really big portion. No
Other diner compares. You can tell it’s good when the place is always packed.

I used to go there all the time. But the treatment my friend and I received from the waitress that wears all the buttons like a TGIF employee and the short middle aged blonde hostess was horrible! They were both extremely rude to us both. This was about a year ago and neither one of us have been back since. I think the waitress wanted us to leave and the hostess came over and very loudly and rudely said «Goodbye! Good night!» We were there on a week night and spent a total of an hour and 10 minutes when there was no wait. We ordered apps and dinners and tea. Not sure what this was all about but I would not spend my money on a place that treats customers like this

This place is the best. I get blasted and come here on the reg. We come here at 1am and the service is consistently doooooope. Love my waitress, love the food, the avocado crunch burg is lit my friends. I put the fries in the Texas petal sauce and just woof that shit. Get her bruh.

Now I’ve been to my fair share of Diners throughout my life, and what I mostly go to Diners for is a French Dip and Disco fries. When I do place my orders I expect my French Dip bread to have a bit of a crunch to it as well as the ability to absorb the gravy. I also expect for the cheese on my disco fries to arrive at my table with the gravy included and to be popping hot so that the cheese is still gooey. Hands down Pompton Queen Diner has gone beyond my expectations making it difficult for me to be satisfied anywhere else. I wouldn’t go to any other diner for my French dip or disco fries, this place has set the bar high.
If you’re like me and enjoy a good olé French Dip and a side of Disco Fries then this is definitely the diner to go to.

The #1 restaurant on his list was too far away so we opted for what he considered the #1 diner dish and ventured off to Pompton Plains.
The place is booming and we order Pete’s recommendation for the Chicken Taverna and we’re told it takes a half-​hour to prepare. (Our iPhones are charged so the kids will stay entertained — I think we’re good with the wait-​time.)
Countless people come and go while we’re waiting and our meals finally arrived and… it’s actually worth the hype. Not your typical diner fare and everything was well-​seasoned and delicious. Even our fries were hand-​cut and tasty as hell (as opposed to the kids’ meals which were the typical frozen-​then-​fried style). Half a chicken (juicy as hell), fries and almost a whole head of broccoli — it’s a lot of good eats for under $ 20.
If most of your diner experiences are after 2 in the morning and you’re so polluted you don’t really care if you’re stuffing your face with mozzarella sticks or a gyro deluxe (most of my late teens right through my 20’s) — you’d be in for a shock coming here and getting this special. This is a proper Sunday supper from a mom that cares about what she’s doing.

Terrible experience, ordered on the phone for pickup, ordered a western omelette and to add cheese and an order of pancakes. The price when i got there was higher than the one of the menu. When I got there the cashier kept taking customers that cut the line in front of me. I then sat down to eat my food and there was no cheese and everything was cold. I then drove back and returned it and the cashier said what’s the matter. I then explained the situation and the cashier said nothing. No apology nothing whatsoever

This place is a favorite of mine. Love their staff; so friendly and accommodating. Their menu is full of yummy choices and each order is delicious. French onion soup is amazing here as is everything else. Not a fan of their omelettes, but maybe it’s my personal preference. So good! I’m a regular here for a reason

LOVE this diner the most. I live in Wayne so this is my go to diner especially on those late night food runs! The staff is attentive and socially amazing to their tables, and the food ranges for everyone’s picky needs! I never had a bad experience here and have been coming to this diner for about 10 years now. I love how you can get breakfast at anytime of the day and same goes with everything else on the menu. There is no time frame for each meal and is always made fresh and hot to your order and specifications.

Great diner.
1) Lots of options.
2) Love the disco fries.
3) Service is reasonable.

Best diner around! The menu is stupidly giant! But they deliver it all well! Try making up your mind though lol

I came back last weekend for a visit and brought my daughter, husband and mother. I have to give serious kudos to our server and everyone there. My daughter pretty much cried the entire time we were there and I’m sure there was some food left on the floor after we had to run out of there. No one appeared too put out by it and our server seemed relaxed (even though I thanked her a million times). Burger and fries a-​plenty. Comfortable seating and the price is right. I can’t stomach the disco fries now that I’m older, but I will always have a soft spot for the Queen.

This is definitely one of the better diners I’ve been to. It’s always packed no matter what time of day you go, but the wait goes quickly as there are many tables inside. The service is on point and the owners/​managers always appear to be walking around and checking on tables which is a huge plus. I’ve had a variety of food items and all have been delicious. They also have a bar. Overall, great spot!

Go there — it’s great diner food — best in the area and better than anything around. Just bring your smart phone while you wait for your table.

Just had diner with wifey and let me tell you that the burger that I had was one the best burgers I ever had. The red hot chili pepper burger. Sssssssooooooooooooo good.
The sampler that we got was really good too. The fried ravioli was off the hook.
No wonder why the place was packed when we got there. Their food and service is stellar.

Great coffee, very mediocre food and even worse service.
Based on Unilocal reviews and a long wait, we thought this would be a local gem. Wrong!
We ordered coffee and water to start. Coffee came out in 5 minutes and we had to ask for water again after 10. Server told us she’d get around to it.
Malibu omelette and mushroom and cheese omelette were dry and way over cooked. Philly cheesesteak sandwich had uncooked peppers and cold, unmelted cheese.
The only positive in our experience was the coffee, which tasted great even if we had to almost beg for refills.

Eaten here before but mostly breakfast. Not overly busy but service kinda slow. I forgot they DONT serve hash-​browns. Home fries are dominating many places because they can just chop up potatoes and a few veggies and let them cook all day.
Anyway, the classic eggs Benny was awesome with French fries and the blueberry pancakes were delicious. Even got a fresh strawberry cheesecake to go.

We’ve visited twice and the quality of the service pulls this restaurant up to a 4 star.
The menu is ridiculously huge (as are the portions). I enjoyed my entrée and the disco fries were tasty. Not good for the waist line.

This is the best diner I been to. It’s always busy and a wait almost every time I go but the wait is always worth it. Great food! Always has/​had great service. One time the waitress served me my meal and it was cold. Once I was able to get her attention and tell her, she was real nice about it and had the chef made me a fresh meal. The best part about that. I did not wait long for my fresh meal. Once she served me the meal she apologized. She came back about 10 minutes later and asked is everything ok. I was very pleased with her great attitude as it was a busy Friday evening. I usually do not tip more then they expect but that night I tipped the waitress 25%. This incident happened about a year ago and I cannot remember the waitress’s name. :(
They have the best chocolate moose and coffee! Will be going here over and over again! Thanks for the great food and great service!

Fantastic! Everything a great diner should be! Arrived after 8PM on a Saturday night and still had to wait. Only 10 minutes so not a big deal. But the amount of people waiting says a lot. Everything was delicious and fresh. Great, friendly staff as well. I wish I’d had room for dessert.

Fantastic. We did rely on the high Unilocal stars to go here in the first place but we were not disappointed. We were a party of 12 and called ahead but were seated almost immediately. Food all came out perfectly still very hot and really good. Would definitely come back
Order the onion rings. Huge portion and really good!

I’ve been loving the Pompton Queen for 15+ years now. The one owner knows my family and I because we used to come here weekly when I was in HS/​middle school.
Good menu and excellent quality in food. Generous portions as well. The service is always friendly and fast. This is by far the best diner I’ve ever been to and it sure will take something spectacular to come along in order to change my mind.
I would have given Pompton Queen 5 stars a few years ago but now it’s a 4.5 star rating to me. I didn’t bum it up for a few reasons.
–their dinner entrees used to come with a soup AND salad. Now its either or. I get this is pretty standard practice for a diner but beings that they used to offer both and now only offer one or the other is kind of a bummer. I’ll get over it.
–they took shrimp salad off their menu! I personally never ordered it but both my sisters loved their shrimp salad wraps… why did you guys remove it from the menu?! Get it back!
–their one hostess was kind of rude to me when I walked in for a table. I’m 26 years old but could pass for a teenager and that’s how I was treated. Kinda pushed off to the side and didn’t take me seriously when asking for a table. I didn’t appreciate it. I miss the other woman that used to work there for years. She was such a sweetheart. Seeing a smile when you first walk in definitely helps any establishment in the restaurant business.
Still the best diner in NJ though and I’ll continue to be a loyal customer whenever I’m in the area.
