Came here with a great deal on groupon along with a friend and we had a great dinner. The building itself is tucked away on a side street in port Jeff so it might take a second loop around to find it. The atmosphere was very authentic, loved it! Seemed very clean and the employees were all very friendly. They menu has a lot of options without being over extensive. I had some sort of fried fish ball appetizer which was really good! We both really enjoyed our sushi also, the rice was very sticky which is something I love because it means it’s very fresh. Some places make their rice by the tons and then just re heat it for fast service. Great place to try if you haven’t been yet!

This is our go to place. The Korean food is wonderful. We love the sushi too. The service is always great. The staff is always happy. HOTSTONEBIBIMBAB is a must have. One of my favorite dishes there. Not to mention the short rib appetizer. The sushi is always a good addition to our meal there.

the restaurant has a lot of authentic Japanese dishes. The Hijiki is delicious and is sweet, and the oshitache(spinach) has a peanut sweet sauce taste, the shitake mushrooms ar sliced in little tiny slices that are uniquely shaped, they have yohan black bean jelly dessert, and their sashimi is fresh and tasty. they also have a potato croquet that is to die for with home made ketchup/barbeque sauce. the oysters are deliciously sautéed with a crispy finish but don’t taste fried. this was the first Japanese restaurant in the area 35 years ago, and has really come around back to its beginnings even though its Korean owned. the miso soup was hatcho miso in the winter time which is a sign that its not just throw it in front of you generic japanese food. there is care put into this. hatcho miso is more of a mountain miso. what you usually get is white miso which is cooling. its the best Japanese restaurant. the tea is very hot which is also a plus.

Sushi is great quality here. I never go crazy and get anything other than the tuna combo here so keep that in mind. The miso soup and ginger salad rocks here. The staff is very friendly here and get the food out quickly. The only time I ever wait is when the guys are busy putting together the sushi.

Really wanted to like this place but after one visit we won’t be returning. First off let me preface by saying we like our sushi, enjoy trying new places, and with the many good offerings both on LI and NYC this place was a flat out disappointment. The sushi came out warm, the fish has a fishy smell to it, and the rolls lacked flavor or luster. Price was about average for a north shore LI sushi joint. With so many good or great sushi places in the area they need to step up their game to get people back.

I’ve been here a couple times and can’t believe I didn’t post a review sooner. This place rocks! The interior has a very cute/cozy feel to it. They always serve extremely fresh fish. The tuna cado appetizer is to die for. I usually get one of their specialty pepperjack cheese rolls. It’s pretty filling and quite the«american» take on sushi. Staff is very helpful and friendly. One of my favorite sushi joints.

This was my first time at Hana’s, I really enjoyed the sushi, I tried the space shuttle which was really was great, also the mango roll! The only thing that bothered me was the service. Their was about 2 maybe 3 waiters for the whole restaurant. I could tell our waiter was kinda of stressed he kept running from table to table. I didn’t get my refill water after I was done with my dinner. & there was a mix up confusion with the drinks. I would come back here but I know there are better sushi restaurants out there.

Decent tasting lunch specials. Generous amount of food in combos. I really enjoy the sesame dressing on the side salad. It’s a welcome departure from the overdone, typically bland, ginger purée that usually accompanies the iceberg lettuce and shredded carrot«salad» at American-Japanese restaurants. Food quality is palatable, but nothing to rave about.

I really wanted to like this place. …I really do. Japanese is my favorite cuisine and Korean is also in my top. However, it was super super disappointing. I honestly don’t care if you’re Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai… heck or even if you’re not Asian, opening up a Japanese restaurant. As long as you know what you are doing. In this case, they are Korean and they don’t know what they’re doing. When I first walked in, I didn’t smell anything funky, just that no one was there to greet us. One of the daughter was our waitress for the night. Although she didn’t have a smile on her face(and trust me, no one in here does, especially the Sushi chefs), she was friendly and always filled our tea. Now on to the food.. . Got the sushi app, mango roll, and the chicken&shrimp with sushi. As you can tell, the chefs don’t know how to even properly roll sushi. Horribly assembled. Ok, now looks aside, the food was plain horrible. I really am not the one to complain and call food horrible. My sushi app came with my roll. No biggie… but none and I mean NONE of the sushi tastes fresh and you can even tell by smelling it. The sushi that came with the entrée was just as bad. I thought the shrimp sushi would be fine but nope.. Now the entrée. Chicken was so damn freaking dry and rough and even the 2pcs shrimp teriyaki was bad. How is that even possible? It just tastes old and smelly. I really don’t know how that’s possible. My mango roll was the only good thing about my meal. Probably because I wasn’t even able to taste the tuna since the cream cheese has a heavy taste to it. Probably the only reason why I gave this a 2 star instead of 1. Koreans seem to be the only one to put cream cheese in their sushi besides in philly rolls. I am seriously surprised that people give the food even anything more than 2 stars to be honest. Maybe I went on a bad night?

I love this place. I have been there several times with my sister since she lives down the street from it. We both love sushi so when I come to visit we usually go there. The sushi is always fresh. I tried their hand rolls for the first time tonight and they were excellent. We shared an order of edamame which is always good and some hot saki which was awesome to. The servers are always friendly and helpful & it’s always a pleasant experience. I also highly recommend their lunch and dinner specials I have never been disappointed by ordering them. I would definitely go back.

HORRIBLE!!! Run, don’t walk away. I met a friend at this place knowing the reputation was poor. I figured I’d give it a chance. The place had an odor that was sulfurous, and it was very dirty. The food was bland and the service slow. The absolute worst, however, was the fact that the owner’s son and his thug friends from the high school in town were there. I have never heard more crude, racist and misogynistic language in my life. Disgusting. I will NEVER go back.

Wow! This place was just horrible. First of all, it was dark and smelly, and then it was rush hour around 6 – 7 pm, and there was only 1 waitress who was all over the place. I got seated at 6 pm and I left at 8:30 pm because service was so slow. The food was mediocre at best but the waitress was rude, slow to refill the water and was not visible for like 90% of the time. In terms of the food, the portions were relatively small for the price. I ordered a mango mochi ice cream and it was literally the size of like 2 quarters for like 4 dollars. Really? The Korean food was too overly seasoned and not truly authentic like those that I would have in flushing. I would recommend for korean food. In terms of japanese food, Tai Show on 25A has more selection and way better service and always gives way better discounts. On average, Tai Show’s sashimi is twice as thick as the ones that Hana gives. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. I will not be returning ever again unless they change owners/business practices.

Really you cannot go wrong with Hana! The sushi and sashimi are wonderful! My personal favorite is the Kyoto and specialty dragon rolls. Everything from the edemame to the saki to the sushi is fabulous. The service is knowledgeable, fast, and unobtrusive. One star off for picking up, as there has been a time or two when my order was not correct. Great for sit down dinners and casual get togethers alike.

I’ve been coming to Hana for a couple years now and historically they’ve had top notch sushi and good service. The last two times I’ve gone, however, it was just OK. There were a couple pieces in my sushi deluxe that seemed like it had been prepared and then left to sit out for a little while. Maybe they were busy. I’d definitely suggest going to Mt. Sinai Sushi over here though for the price.

Firstly, not a big Japanese/Sushi enthusiast. Went here recently for a birthday dinner. Service was attentive and friendly, but not overly so. They added some Korean food to the menu, so I ordered the Korean short ribs. It was all rib and no meat, so I was glad I had some food passed around to start. I was rather disappointed, but didn’t want to make a big deal about it. I ended with some fried ice cream and I did enjoy that! Overall not a bad place, sushi seemed fresh and the service was good, but nothing to get too psyched about either.

I have been coming to this place for almost 10 years now and this may be the last time. Sadly this place has gone down hill. Back in the day this was my go to sushi place… not anymore. We ordered for salad the seaweed salad and the kani salad. I could only explain it as their way of saving major money they now cut the salad at least in half with other stuff. The seaweed salad now comes about half seaweed and half bean sprouts(which if you dont know bean sprouts are one of the cheapest ingredients you can buy in a asian market). The kani salad was also cut in half with lettuce(another cheap item). Usually the kani salad is just crab salad on a lettuce leaf. Here they mix it all up putting the minimum amount of crab. Keep in mind these are one of the more costly salads. Not worth it at all here. The miso soup I use to love here, now tastes watery and super salty. The sashimi I ordered was salmon. Each piece has a slice of lime between which gave it the taste of lime which I do not like. It was also a lot more fatty then any salmon sashimi I have had(and thats usually my favorite and I order it all the time). Other then that the salmon could have tasted a lot more fresh. My friend got rolls that she enjoyed. kani roll, cali roll, and one other. Good things about this place. They were nice, There was no wait, the food came out relatively quick, I did not get sick after.

I went to Hana for the first time in over three years last night. Let’s step back in time so you can understand what occured all those years ago: A close friend of mine(as well as a fellow Unilocaler) and I used to frequent Hana Sushi weekly. We had been getting some consistently fresh sushi, decently sized portions, at prices which we thought were fair. One fine day, our bill came at the end of our meal, it was $ 42 for the two of us, and my friend placed his credit card down on the tray. When the credit card receipt came back, we noticed that he was charged $ 62, not $ 42. We pointed this out to the waitress, and showed her the $ 42 on the hand-written bill. She told us(yes there was a language barrier here) that the $ 42 was wrong and the $ 62 was right. We continued to argue that our actual bill said $ 42, so she picked up the bill, and in front of us, crossed out the $ 42 and wrote $ 62. I swear I’m not making this up. We left zero tip, walked out, and I believe my friend disputed the charges with his credit card company. Oh yeah, we never came back and put the word out on the street about what happened. Present day: after a wine-tasting trip with several close friends out on the east end yesterday, I could not sway the majority to eat at Benten in Miller Place. So we went to Hana instead(I told the above story, no one cared). I started with the seaweed salad. It was pretty decent. We also got an order of edemame. The edemame was completely devoid of salt, and slightly under steamed. We got a host of rolls, perhaps 8 in total, with all different types of fishes, including yellowtail, salmon, tuna, fried oyster, shrimp tempura, etc. Everything was bland as can be, pretty much tasteless. I also took issue with the temperature of things. The rolls that were supposedly cold rolls were slightly warmer than room temperature. The warmer rolls were just a bit warmer than that. I just was not impressed, this place tasted much better 4 years ago before they got all Enron with their credit card swiping. Because I hadn’t eaten anything all day, I ate a bunch of everything despite not truly enjoying it. Bad idea, I’ve been running to the bathroom all morning, and trust me, I have a rock-solid stomach, and it’s not taking too well to whatever the heck I ate at Hana last night. No one else at the table seemed to have any problem with the sushi here(at least out loud). Then again I don’t seem to agree with nearly anybody about sushi and I only like about 4 sushi places on this entire island. Oh yeah, there was a pubic hair smack dab in the middle of the sushi boat, that we noticed when nearly completed with the food. It was jet black and none of my fellow diners have jet black hair. Nice touch, Hana. Next time, f&*k y’all, I’m going to Benten.

The sushi here is pretty great. The Korean lady who use to own Hana was a doll. She was very nice and polite. The service here is top notch. Food — I highly suggest sticking with sushi. The hot food here is all pre-made or frozen and it’s all cooked by a fat mexican who thinks he’s chef of the year. As you walk towards the restroom, you will pass by the kitchen doors and see this dude slackin off. I would love to see him on Hell’s Kitchen with Chef Gordon Ramsey. Aside from that, the sushi rolls and sashimi here is fresh and delicious. For dessert, have the fried ice cream. I believe they have two flavors, green tea and red bean but I could be wrong. I know they have green tea for sure. Drinks — Japanese Beer, Kirin and Sapporo works well with sushi. There is soda on tap and of course there’s sake! Service — Young fast legs serving your food. What can go wrong? It’s great. Verdict — Like I said before, just stick with the sushi. The sushi chefs here have experience. The only downside of this place, the sushi chefs at the sushi bar don’t have much to say so it could be a bit boring if you sit there. The entire restaurant is fairly clean, the previous owner certainly kept it that way from what I remember. There is a large parking lot so if your lookin for sushi in Port Jeff, give Hana a try.
