I can’t believe I’m having such a terrible banking experience from a **local** credit union! My banking here has been UNPROFESSIONAL in every way. I DONOTTRUSTTHEM. I’ve banked when then for a year now and have rarely not had some kind of issue with them every time I have to deal with KCU. Here’s why: I opted for their temporary checks as I knew I would be moving. They offer 12 a year, which was about the amount I needed. Now folks the following sounds like I made this up – but this is all true! Not once, but on TWO separate occasions they MISPRINTED my account number on my checks. This resulted in several very embarrassing situations with my daughters school fundraiser, a family member, ect. The time I had to take out of my own schedule to fix their mistake. Phone calls, visiting the school twice took 5 weeks for resolution. Then finally when we got the correctly printed checks the South Kitsap branch manager told us they’ve had this issue«a lot lately». WTF Ms. Branch Manager? This isn’t acceptable, money isn’t Play Doh! I’ve had large deposits from the same company 6+ times. Every dang time the teller puts a 2 – 3 day hold on the check(yes it varies). Now 1) I can see doing this a couple times but not each time, and 2) the hold is at the individual teller’s discretion — that’s what I was told! Pardon my surprise when I found out that any entry level employee has that kind of power over my finances. Now I’m getting my mail sent to my old address after ONLY ever currently banking with KCU from my current address. I’m so over it. What prompted this review was that I went to pay a bill by phone this morning and my debit card was declined! My account balance is 13x the amount I need to pay(yes I did the math) and it was declined. Now I have to schlep all 3 of my little kids to the bank because, unlike any other financial institution, you cannot get KCU on the phone despite me calling every number listed for them. I just want to pay a bill! Is it too much to ask? For KCU it is!

Today was my last straw with this CU. I work for another larger CU so I kinda of expected a to be treated like they actually cared about me here, however it was and has been the complete opposite. The CU I work for treats people much better than this place. First when we tried to get a loan, after five days of negotiations the MC told us you should go somewhere else, you won’t have a problem getting a loan anywhere else. Low and behold at my work we had our money in two days, I still don’t understand this. Next, for months we were being charged a bad address fee, no one called to ask if our address changed. I called and told them we got our mail why do you charge us this, they confirmed they had all the correct info, no real solution, gave us credit, continued to bill us the fee after that, had to keep calling. Then I needed a new debit card, that was a nightmare that went on for about a month without me having a card. Also when you deposit cash here, if it’s more than 200, they place a hold on it for at least 48 business hours??? CASH. Then today. We requested our tax returns to be direct deposited into our account, and without so much as a call they rejected the deposit. I AMSOOVERTHESEPEOPLE. They are making me pick a start to post this otherwise they don’t deserve one.

We moved over to KCU from Kitsap Bank. The reason why we closed our KB accounts was because we were made to feel our business wasn’t important to them. They were all about charging fees. KCU has been wonderful to us. We have quite a few accounts with them. The tellers are all friendly. Their online chat feature has been invaluable and a time saver. They’re the only local financial institution we will do business with. I gave them four stars because even though the Port Orchard branch isn’t perfect, it’s pretty close.

Kitsap CU used to be wonderful. They weren’t always about making a dollar off their members. In the last six months they’ve sent me a new card with no notice and turned off my old card, so I was charged many overdraft fees. Then they overhaul their systems which are bipolar with allowing money transfers. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. So I was recently charged $ 140 in charges due to trying for TWODAYS to move money from my biz accounts and personal accounts, etc. obviously it wasn’t letting me move the money cause the charges keep racking up! The customer service reps treat you like a criminal now, instead of a member. It’s actually shameful. They also for the last year wouldn’t let me perform business deposits via an ATM… however…now since i was crying on the phone I was told I could perform those deposits. So what’s the real answer kitsap?! Yes? No? Kitsap you are losing my business unless you change your practices. Making money off your members by changing your software so that we can’t move our money around is not ok.

The wait time for the THREE drive thru lanes is absolutely ridiculous! They never apologize for the slow turn over rate at all. You aren’t greeted with smiles either.
