Tea time is all about restraint and slowing down for our family. However, today we were unable to stop ourselves from devouring the roasted garlic & fig spread(purchased while visiting this lovely store.) Me: a shameless & passionate gastronome(who has/still does after more than 10 years local) find it difficult sussing out epicurean sundries &/or with any regularity: to feel inspired by new ones. This store has more than just a love for really excellent quality food supplies though… Getables is doing more than its fair share of elevating our exisiting epicurean-focused village by stocking tasteful, curious, and with the aforementioned empirical evidence listed above, delicious products(see 4th paragraph:) This is a nicely run store as well– while some culinary shops breezily make it known they’d rather not have your child shopping with you, my son was treated with sweetness by the two women who I believe may be sister(in-laws?) and perhaps the owners as well(so it is the kind of family run business it is so important to support in today’s world of franchises.) These gals: kind & knowledgeable longterm PT residents who have worked at several of the culinary shops around town and have now opened their own shop with much more carefully chosen items than I’ve seen in a long while anywhere in PT.(There used to be deli called Provisions many moons ago that stocked similar indulgences but was more european to Getable’s focus on locally produced stuff.) PT community and tourists: do yourself a favor and stop in to «get» everything you need(for picnics, counter lunch, home cooking needs, gifts, children’s upscale toys and basically anything one with great taste juxtaposed with a dash of modernity would be on the look-out for.) We will be back sooner than later with mom-in-law in tow. Then the real spending will begin ;) Cheers to you both and your families for opening your fine shop; thus playing a splendid role in enhancing our(already) hip & cool foodie focused little town.

We stopped in here during our day trip to Port Townsend. It was a BEAUTIFUL day to pop in and out of shops and Getables was one of the shops we visited. It’s a rather small shop with random items but the specialty food items and drinks was what caught my attention. Along side a wall, they had all these unique beers and spirits that I had to check out. Upon further inspection, I found the Bundaberg Ginger Beer that I fell in love with when visiting New Zealand last year. I haven’t really looked super hard for it back home but I’ve often craved it. Seeing it on vacation just got me excited to pick it up and share with the hubby and friend we were visiting. I also picked up a pear cider that was made local. I believe the name was Finn River Cider. It was a little too tart for my liking and most of it went to waste but it was worth a try. The owner was very friendly and noted they just celebrated their 1 year anniversary. Here’s to many, many more years of success!
