Second visit and disappointed each time. Was giving it a second chance but neither provided great food experience. Beer was good but hard to mess that part up. Soup order was missed for the first visit and instead of offering to take it off the check the provided to go and keep it on the check. Not a huge issue but was suppose to be timed with the rest of the meal. Second visit. 4 people. Soup and sandwich. Got the soup this time. However cold and sent back. Ticket time was rather long so it may have sat in the back for while before delivery. Taphouse burger looked like someone sat on it. Not visually appealing. Ordered medium and delivered well done. Won’t be coming back and not recommending. Sorry. Was hoping it turned out better for round two.

I don’t live in Portage anymore, but it’s nice to have this place as an option on this side of town. Previously I’ve lived in a neighborhood near Centre and 131, and there aren’t a ton of options, except those in Texas Corners, and then further into Portage or Kalamazoo. So it was nice coming home one day and hearing there was a cool bar on Centre not too far away. Anyway, the food is good and they have a lot of beer choices, also a lot of TVs so good for any kind of game watching. I’ve actually done a few parties there, so also a good place to have friends meet up, and stand around in the bar area for a get-together of whatever kind. Food-wise, I’d say my favorite thing are the sliders, specifically the lamb slider, however I do recommend getting the flight of sliders to try all three(yes, even the quinoa one, meat lovers), they’re all worth a try. They have some great beers on tap there, most recently I enjoyed a stout they had on nitro, can’t remember which one, but bottom line, they have good beer. I recommend giving this place a shot if you’re around the area.

I like the changing beer selection. Good mix of local and imported beers. I usually just go for the beer. Food is okay nothing special.

Just like the original(Central City Tap House), the Center Street Tap House is a very good beer– centric Gastro pub. The menus are almost identical, and the beer selections are extremely similar. Bottom line: the overall beer and menu selections are usually quite good, but this version of the taphouse has better ambience-more natural light, due to the large windows that are at the front of the pub. This makes an afternoon drink or lunch a «brighter”/ not so dark experience. Also, this taphouse has a very nice outdoor sitting area with fire pits and heated lamps, as well. Overall, a good eating and drinking experience.

So… Alcohol comes first at this place, food second. The chef tried… Good concepts, just not fully there taste wise. Example: House made tater tots(think frozen shredded hash browns, rolled into balls then deep fried. Shredded Parmesan and an Italian seasoning or sprinkled on top of the balls)– problem is: the tatertots were served with ketchup! A 2-year old eats ketchup. I’ve had housemaid tater tot’s and other cities where they were often served with fresh green onions and a zesty creama on top(plus, bits of pork croutons scattered too). Therefore, these were just okay. I had the chicken, Gouda cheese, bacon, avocado and avocado creama sandwich with parmesan fries… Again, sounded great in concept but the flavors were pretty bland on the plate. Not to mention it was fairly messy to eat… I love messy sandwiches, but in this case the creama soaked into the bun and I had to fork and knife it. Fries were just thin fries with a ton of parmesan dumped on top. Husband had The turkey burger… Bacon is inside the burger already chopped up so we think that’s why it wasn’t dry, which is a good thing. The menu read that it had a cranberry compote, but in reality it was just a handful of Craisins thrown on the sandwich. The housemade chips were good. The cocktails were STRONG. Lol. Overall, this restaurant is overrated pair to other cities we have been in… However, when there’s nothing else around… Why not… There is definite room for food quality, flavor-wise, improvement.

Servic a little arrogant. They also clearly in Bells pocket with quite a few crappy Bells brew and very few good local Kalamazoo beers.

We had a nice lunch yesterday at the tap house. The food was very reasonably priced off their lunch menu. We both got a half sandwich with a salad and were happy with our selections. Being a couple of ranch fans we always get this little giggle when we find somewhere that makes their own ranch and has it just right — they fit the bill which gave us a really good start. My wife had the veggie wrap which she likes very much and repeatedly orders and I had the Cuban. I was a bit disappointed by the Cuban, but I attribute that to having had the best Cuban I’ve ever had a few days before and this one just being good. We had our littlest with us and it was a pleasant surprise to find that drinks for her were free. Service by far was the shining star here. Our waiter was prompt, friendly and really quite personable. I caught him up selling me several times in the perfect way, it was genuine and nice in an area that is really easy to turn off a patron. Overall good experience and a restaurant that we’ll continue to have on our lunch list.

Another gem in the Millennium Restaurant group’s crown! After a day of running errands, I wanted a small dinner and came across the Centre Street Tap House. It’s only about a mile from one of my favorite restaurants in Kalamazoo, the Fieldstone Grille and there are a lot of similarities. The menu is somewhat similar. They have a burgers, salads, unique appetizers, and decadent desserts. Prices are a little on the expensive side, but the quality and quantity of food make up for it. I ended up getting a cup of their broccoli cheese soup and a salad Caesar salad. For bring smaller sized items/side dishes, they were huge! The salad was full of crisp romaine and delicious dressing. My only complaint was that there was a little too much dressing. The soup was rich and flavorful. They have a full bar and offer a great variety of beers, wines, and cocktails. I ended up getting a glass of their white blend which was actually wine from a tap. I had never tasted wine from a tap before and it was great. Very«clean» tasting. The service was phenomenal. I sat at the bar and all three of the staff were so friendly and attentive. They made sure all of their customers were enjoying their meals. The inside is somewhat small, but they they offer outdoor seating and it would be a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal on a beautiful day. I highly reccomend!

Same as Central City Tap House downtown Kalamazoo. Both are very good. I personally like the atmosphere downtown better, but the food here is just as good.

It was good, a nice atmosphere to have a conversation with people in. I liked how the outdoor patio has fire pits. It’s a good place to go on a date. I had the cheeseburger. The burgers are super big, the bun is a little odd, was kind of hard. The kettle chips are a pretty peppery. Had an Oberon, and well an Oberon is an Oberon. The service was good, it wasn’t too loud and the waitress easy to talk to. She gave some good suggestions on the menu. Overall it is good, I will go again.

My husband a I have been here a few times. We have never had bad or slow service. Everybody is very friendly and there has always been a good vibe. It is a place you go to have a fun time, laugh and be merry. Others have complained it is loud. It is first a bar with decent food, it is suppose to be loud. It is not fine dining. We are gluten free and there are many food items to order. The mussels are good, especially in the summer sitting outside, not the very best, but we like them. Great gluten free beer and decent wines by the glass that usually are not available in a bar/restaurant. There are many breweries in town, but no gluten free beer. If you don’t want to sit and have dinner, I believe a drink and appetizer at the bar would be a fun time for most.

The service there is always excellent! They are always on top of things and willing to go the extra mile. The food is great too! They always have changing taps and their Bloody Mary bar on Sundays is fantastic!

I’ve been here a few times. They always have a solid selection of microbrews on tap as well as a cheap PBR for your friends who are looking to save a few coins. I’d describe their food as upscale pub fare. There’s a good balance between interesting items and traditional bar food. I love the raw bar on Sunday night with raw oysters.

Food quality and service on decline. I’ve been here 5 or six times and I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon. The reason I’m 2 star is because it translates to «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» In the first few months after opening, the food was good, the service was excellent and the ticket times were reasonable. I just got back from lunch with a co-worker and we both left very disappointed. It took a long time to get our food, so long that we asked for it to go. The place was only about 20% full when we ordered too. The time before that I ordered a burger that was charred beyond the point where it should be eaten, I ordered it a medium. This place needs more consistency. The other Millennium restaurants seem to do a better job with food quality and service. They do have a good beer and whiskey menu though.

This location is very convenient to me. I’ve been here 3 times now and I’m still not overly impressed. I’ve always had slow service. The food is just OK to me. First time I went here, I waited for an hour to be seated. They didn’t get my drink order for about 20 minutes and my food came out cold. They ended up comping my meal and giving me a free dessert. I understand that this kind of thing can happen so I didn’t get upset. I think the service and menu could improve. On a positive note, good beer selection, good prices, and decent atmosphere with patio seating. Overall, I’ll probably continue to come back here but it may not be my first choice.

The service was great. We had a reservation for 12 people on a Saturday night and we were accomodated for such a large party. The menu is more for an acquired taste. Everyone at the table had to venture out and try something against the norm. There are staples that picky eaters may like on the menu like the mac and cheese, however, a lot of the choices come with eyebrow-raising additions.

I’m a little surprised with the bad reviews. If you’re looking for great food and great drinks, this is in my top 3 in Portage. My Wife and I came here for my birthday and were happy with the service, food/drinks and ambiance. Service: they were pretty busy(Saturday at 9:30pm) however we didn’t have to wait for a table. We were greeted promptly and our drink orders were taken shortly thereafter. Food/drinks: we shared a fried pickle and green bean app, and weren’t disappointed. We each got our own flight to try some beers then ordered a tall of our favorite.(If you can’t find a beer you like here, there is no hope for beer in your life) we capped it off with deserts. I had the crème broule(sorry for the spelling) and my Wife had the chocolate lava cake with ice cream on top. Both were great and I would order them again. Ambiance: Great big screen, high def TVs, which is basically required to be a good bar. Taps are up front and visible with lit logos for the respective beers on tap. The music was noticeable but not too loud(I hate when I have to yell to communicate in bars; Tap House has the correct volume, for me at least) Previous reviews mention bad male bartenders. I saw two guys behind the bar and they seemed to be working hard; our flights and drink orders came out promptly.(I was on the lookout because of how harsh previous reviews were) everyone has their opinion but don’t let others deter you from this much needed, classy bar in West Portage. Excited to go back for dinner and beers!
