The food was good(the Apple salad hit the spot), the service good. Nice enough place, but value for money? Don’t know if we will come back.

We came here later at 1pm beating the lunch crowd stumbling from the stupor of the night before, the coffee was great and refilled regularly Two highlights to me were the ricotta cake which was so moist and a perfect compliment to the coffee. My friend had the duck hash and I myself ala cart ordered a side of cripsy potatoes which leads me to the second highlight — the homemade ketchup. It had a zing to it much like that served by Little Big Burger. I like the stark minimalism of the wood table and open windows esp in the cold dark winter days. The menu really is very creative with hash served with cod and other non-traditional mixes.

Great food. Great service. I love the décor in the dining room. Simple, wood, casual but elegant. Food is always delicious.

This place is so yummy. The winter salad, the deviled eggs and the manicotti! To die! Must try the hot toddy when it’s on special!

If you remember the old Genoa — this is as close as you’re getting to that quality of food and people. They have a great wine list and the people are warm and friendly. One of my best kept secrets in SE dining!

Went here for an anniversary and they greeted us with free champagne! We started off with a beet salad and it was decent with the wheatberries but not my favorite. The bread basket was delicious! We ordered the risoto and the pumpkin gnocchi and both were amazing! The server recommended a bottle of white for us and it was the perfect pairing! We had a fantastic time and will come again!

I went to Accanto with my parents for dinner on a Tuesday night. My father is notoriously difficult to please, and he just loved it. We had an early reservation(6:00 pm) and while there weren’t many people in there that early, by 7:00 it was starting to fill up. My cocktail — La Paloma — was absolutely lovely, and generous! I usually finish them quickly, so it was nice to be able to enjoy it for a while. Our starters were the roasted beets with ricotta salata and wheatberries and the heirloom carrots. Both were delicious. We each had a different pasta dish — the manicotti, the linguine and the gnocchi. All were very good, but the ricotta gnocchi dell’orto(broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, zucchini, chard, tomato, crispy garlic, turnip leaf pesto) really stood out. The food was great, and the service was too — prompt and professional. Our waiter(I think his name was Miles) was friendly and best of all, he waited til all of us had finished until he cleared our plates. Big score with my dad. As we left, my father declared that Accanto was the best dining experience he had had in Portland. We will definitely go back.

I don’t know why it took me this long to get here, but I’m stoked I finally did! Everything was great. Salads were large and delicious. Ricotta gnocchi melted in my mouth with nice crisp veggies. Price for value/size is fine. The house white was great. The service was impeccable. Living in Portland, that’s refreshing and far too infrequent. Oh, and they take reservations, which many places don’t! We don’t wait an hour in line when there are so many great places in this town, so being able to make plans and ensure a reservation is a bonus. Can’t wait to come back!

We stumbled in here for our anniversary after our initial option ended up being closed. I am so happy we came in! Right from the get go, I loved this place. The atmosphere and interior had a nice laid back feel to it and our server was super attentive and knowledgable. and just very friendly. We started with bread and deviled eggs. The bread came in 3 different forms, I wasn’t a massive fan of one of them but all the other bread wasn’t bad. The deviled eggs were okay in my opinion, I liked the deep fried prosciutto on top but I had a weird horseradish taste in my mouth from the egg itself. My girlfriend liked it a lot though. Entrée wise I got the risotto with crawfish and it was awesome. The sweet corn really added a nice touch to it. The portion was generous! My girl ordered the fettuccini and although it wasn’t bad, we both definitely preferred my entrée. All in all, this place is cute and I’d gladly come back.

Had the Goat Coppa Steak with polenta(special of the day, cooked 21 hours, REALLYGOOD) and the half chicken(also very good). Apricot cocktail was good. Other one(forgot the name, has Buffalo Trace in it) was so-so. Service was good except you know when you can tell the waiter is working for the tip, not just doing a good job and enjoying it? Yeah… That.

Accanto delivers consistently excellent food without pretense. Sit at the bar or at a table. Bring a group, one other person, or just yourself. You will always eat well and be treated well. The food is simple and at a price point that’s hard to beat. It’s great ingredients treated simply. The menu changes constantly so recounting what’s good isn’t helpful, but the pastas and salads are favorites. And they pour interesting and well-priced wines. On a recent visit, their wine broker was there, so an extra taste of a new pick went to everyone at the bar, which was much appreciated!

Came in on a Sunday night 20 minutes before they closed. The restaurant was almost empty, but they managed to make out meal feel lovely and unhurried. We had three antipasti for $ 13. Each dish was very small, and could be ordered separately at $ 5, which I think would have disappointed me, but the three together made more sense. Chickpea crêpe had goat cheese and eggplant and was my fav of the three. The other two were also very good, deviled eggs with a punch of roasted pepper and cold mushrooms with an herby champagne vinegar marinade. We split the lobster gnocchi, as we were not that hungry so it was perfect. Savory and fluffy gnocchi, with tender lobster chunks and shaved roe napped with a buttery nage that had us politely clashing spoons, angling for a last bite. Sadly refused dessert, as we had some business with a dessert wine waiting at home. Definitely coming back.

I was in Portland with my daughter to look at colleges and we had dinner at Accanto. It was so good. Perfect sized portions and a nice — albeit small selection on the menu. My daughter had the Manicotti alla Jersey. She raved about it. The manicotti was light and fluffy. The sauce tasted to me like«east coast gravy.» I have had manicotti where it’s heavy and dense and sits in your stomach like a bomb. This was not that. If you are so lucky to go there when they have the fried chicken liver with rhubarb and strawberry order them!!! So so good. For my main dish, I had the lobster gnocchi. Great dish. They are known for their donut desert with lemon curd.(It has a fancier name). Solid desert. I’d make sure to come back here when I visit.

Service was okay, the people were nice enough but the atmosphere was a bit pompous and the music did not match the environment. We asked the waitress for recommendations and ordered the trout benedict and buckwheat crepes. The trout dish was bland, the sauce on the near fully cooked poached eggs was tasteless, the greens were bitter, the overall dish small and not worth $ 14. The potatoes, however, were yummy and crispy. The buckwheat crêpe dish was equally small, better taste but nothing special, greens on the side even more bitter, and overall not very appetizing either. We got the donuts with lemon curd to start and those were worth eating, but I would not recommend the rest for anyone who actually wants delicious tasting food and a nice place to socialize over brunch.

It’s not easy to get 5 stars out of me for brunch, but this place deserved it! I arrived late because I was coming from WA. Usually at a Portland brunchery they’d shut you down before even trying to get through the door, but I called ahead saying I’d be late and the waitress was completely graceful. I was sat down and made my choice quickly, which was made easy thanks to their concise menu with quality choices. I chose their fresh donuts as an appetizer and their«Traditional» for the main. The donuts were fresh from the fryer, sprinkled with powdered sugar. They came with a really delicious lemon compote, sprinkled with blueberry’s. The Traditional came with two large slices of rustic toasted bread, grilled sweet potatoes that were spiced really well, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. Everything tasted fresh and was well portioned. I’ll definitely be back!

My sister was traveling through town and we met here for dinner last night. While the food was excellent, the service was embarrassingly distracted or non-existant. Since there isn’t a hostess stand, the greeting process is awkward. The bartender finally greeted me and took me to my table, afterwards nothing — no water, no beverage order, nothing. I waited about 10 minutes until my sister arrived and we continued to wait. .. I finally got up from the table and asked the bartender if someone would please serve our table. Server eventually came over and apologized. Dinner service, when it finally happened was pleasant but very distracted. I ordered tea after dinner and had to get up and retrieve my own cup from the barista stand. Looking beyond the service issues, the food was excellent. I ordered the arugula salad, which was perfectly peppery, balanced nicely with the sweetness of sliced pea pods. My sister ordered the gnocchi w/crab and I ordered the risotto with prosciutto. We were both happy diners once we we fed!

The best thing we had was the antipasti: deviled eggs, arancino, and the torta. The pineapple with the arancino strangely worked! However, our main courses fell kind of flat. The spaghetti with lobster was lacking in flavor and there were maybe only three chunks of lobster which was disappointing. My husband said his lamb bolognese was too overpowered by the lamb and that it needed more spice. We also had the gelato of the day: a pistachio, marscapone, and orange gelato accompanied by a biscotti. Pretty good, minus the abundant orange peel which was a tad off putting. Overall, we both left feeling pretty underwhelmed. Can’t say we’re eager to come again.

We stopped here for late lunch and I fell in love with the food and atmosphere. Freshly starched napkins in a comfy casual environment made it a relaxing spot. The orrichette(probably spelled wrong, but it means little ear) pasta was perfect. Also the fritte with shrimp, calamari, olives, lemon slices and some other deliciousness was lightly breaded and fried to crispy perfection. The care in preparation and use of quality ingredients, as well as the atmosphere and easy-going friendliness of the people there means that we will definitely visit this establishment again. Oh! Almost forgot –the tiramisu is swoon-worthy.

Accanto’s food, like the space itself, is simple and expertly done. My favorite adjective for this place is NICE. The space is nice, the food is very nice and the service is polished. I took my partner and his parents here for brunch. It was searing summer day and we ended up moving inside with air conditioning — I felt like entered a Bön Apetit magazine. They have a small open kitchen with 2 chefs quietly preparing meals so if you get bored staring at your company(never tired of staring at food), you can stare at them and maybe pick up a cooking tip. The food is somewhat simple. I’m not saying the cooking process was simple. but more the flavors and combinations. Some reviewers called their food«bland.» My guess is that people are so into foie gras double downs that they forget to appreciate excellently cooked simple combinations that let the ingredients shine through. It’s «bland» on purpose. It guided me to appreciate the flavors and texture of creamy polenta with braised greens, of poached eggs over caramelized onions in tomato sauce(eggs alla carriola) and how the intense creamy richness of the burrata. If you’re looking for a nice place to bring parents or a first date, this place is the way to go. They take reservations on Open Table too! This is also a great place for brunch if you don’t want to wait in line for an hour for good food. We came on a busy weekend(a lot of stuff going around town and probably visitors) but they had plenty of spaces available. They also have larger tables for groups 6 – 8?
