Wandering about downtown PDX, I was lured here to the Ash Street Saloon by the siren call of some unknown punk band. Well, I’m sure they were known to some but I hadn’t heard of them and don’t recall their name– not bad, though!
The place wasn’t very busy, but the beer was cheap and I loved the well-​worn dive bar atmosphere. Nothing pretentious or ‘hipster’ about this joint; just a good watering hole.

This is one of my favorite watering holesin Old Town. It’s a comfortable neighborhood bar, plain and simple. I love the staff, they’re all accommodating and skilled at what they do. Service is prompt, prices are right and drinks are strong.
I like that they’re open every day at 11am and offer $ 3.75 DAILY lunch specials as well as a daily happy hour between 4p — 8p with bar fare priced at $ 2 and $ 3. Weekends will get you breakfast and a Bloody Mary to go with your hangover.
The Ash offers live music 7 nights a week starting at 9:30pm and Heather does an amazing job booking local and touring rock bands, national and international.
Get your ass to the Ash and don’t forget to tip the staff!
