I found Beauty Box on Unilocal because of the great reviews (and the awesome coupon I found on here!). Unfortunately I’m that one customer that had a bad experience. I have been having bad luck with my hair and recently I got it colored too dark. I expressed to Bri how stressful this has been and she told me she would fix it no problem. I just wanted it two shades lighter of a brown. I showed her a picture of my old color that I wanted, and even showed her again because I was so nervous. I’d spent a lot of money so far on this mess, so who wouldn’t be nervous? Well, she washed it with clarifying shampoo, which made it really tangled, and she spent most of the time brushing it out. By the time she put color on it she had gone into her next appointment. I had to wait an hour and a half after I was scheduled to be done to get out of there. and guess what? My hair is EXACTLY the same color. I called back the next day and left a voice-​mail explaining what had happened and what they could do to fix it. 3 days later… no return call. How unprofessional. She even knew what I had been through so far with my hair. I would have left a good review if they had corrected the problem like any salon should.
Now I’m just asking for a refund!

My son and I love getting our haircuts with Bri at Beauty Box. Bri really takes the time to listen and understand what we want. She is very talented and always does a great job, also making the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. My son and I drive up from West Linn to get our cuts at the Beauty Box in Portland and we are always delighted. Prices are great and we love scheduling online through Schedulicity. Easy peasy and great cuts. HIGHLY recommended!

Bri is great! She handled my curly mess with ease. I tend to have a brassy look to my blonde, but she gave me cool blonde!
Great attitude and listens to what you want, plus add’s a funky twist to your do!

Bri is amazing and awesome at what she does! She is great at deciphering the random «I want something like this» and making it what you really wanted. Plus, she’s super fun to be around.
The space is beautiful and very welcoming. Highly recommended!

Bri is super cute and made me look so too! She started the cut with an amazing head massage. She washed before and after the cut and was very personable.
The salon is charming and in an amazing space.

Lauren = incredible. After every time she cuts my thick horse hair mane, it looks amazing for about two weeks after. She uses an electric razor that no one else has used on me and it really seems to do the trick.
I followed Lauren from Grace hair salon.
She is sweet, no drama, amazing stylist, down to earth and easy to talk to.
Great prices too.
Definitely reccomend Lauren. The only reason not 5 stars is because I feel the salon’s identity needs a lot of work. Kind of an odd uncomfortable space for me (have not been there for a month though). But as far as Lauren’s talent goes — def. deserves 5 stars.

Followed Lauren here from Grace Salon. Once you find a good hair stylist, you kinda just follow her where she goes… and that’s exactly what I did. :)
I wrote a review for Grace Salon (couldn’t figure out how to link it here), but anyway, main reason I kept going back was for Lauren and now I’ve found her again!
My hair was a MESS over the course of almost a year, she has cut, pruned, and made my hair … as beautiful as it can get.
I definitely recommend Lauren as a drama free, totally relaxed, super friendly, firm handshake and a great hair stylist.
The Mendy Wright Salon is in a awesome building on Water Ave., perfect for lunch at the restaurant downstairs and getting a cut. The MW parking spaces are a little hard to find because they are spray painted on the ground instead of an upright sign, but whatever, free parking downtown!
The salon is homey and boutique-​ish with only 2 chairs and one hair-​washing station. Lacks the people watching you usually get at bigger salons, but I feel like it’s more personal so it’s all good.
Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a new hair place!

I’ll be honest, I had never heard of Mendi Wright before I followed Lauren over from Grace Salon (Grace… seriously… BAD MOVE). But my source for scalp nirvana is back. The salon itself has a lot of potential, and I am digging the small personal nature of it. But hell, I’d let Lauren cut my hair in a bomb crater in Baghdad if it came to it.
