So I’ve been here a few times. Service is normally okay and the steaks are good. I came in one night and ordered a pizza. It wasn’t good. Assume it was a frozen pizza and for $ 13 that’s crazy. Plus they burned it. The real problem is our waitress was so busy chatting loudly with her friends we couldn’t hardly get her attention for drinks. Her language was foul. I realize it’s a bar but a little professionalism goes a long way. This place seems to be falling apart as well.

I’ve been going to Boss Hawg’s since I moved to the area three years ago, it’s my go too. Brian & Dave are my favorite bartenders and can answer any trivia question poised to them. Watching games are an experience but it’s the karaōke that is the best!!!

I really want to enjoy this place. I know the food is good. I often end up stopping here on weekdays for a later lunch. I have yet to stay and eat lunch recently, though, because of the horribly annoying programming that is BLARING from the tvs. One of those random video clip shows with b-list celebrity(like Andy Dick and Danny Bonducci) commentary, and sound effects for adult ADD. I even asked the bartender when literally no one was watching the screen, if we could please change it maybe to sports programming, and she said«no, everyone is watching it», and walked away. There were two girls in the dining area and their backs were toward the screen. I guess I’ll keep trying to go when I’m in the area, but if that bartender and her favorite shows are there, I’ll turn right around.

Bartender and waitress were both quite nice, recommended the French dip highly and the NY steak. The sandwich was delicious and flavorful, the steak was cooked nicely and had a slight smokey flavor, also very nice. What aurprised me was the green beans were made with onion and ham bits… VERY nice touch. I actually ate them all! Loaded baked potato, salad and bread too… all were happily devoured. Definitely will visit again to try the St Louis ribs and T-bone steak dinners :)

Friday night GREATFOOD! went back Sunday at 5:30 cold meatballs, Cold mash potatoes, no gravy then delivered undone and with chunks of startch. The cook blamed the waitress that was on top of her game. So I guess it depends on what cook is working. This is why only 2 stars, fire your Shitty cook or lose business.

Food was ok. Need more employees on a Sunday morning. At least a bartender and a server. Too many people for one. Service was good considering. Prices are good.

Food is OK. The service is hit and miss. I have better service in the evenings than at lunch time. Waiting 15 minutes for a menu and 20 minutes for my beer is NOT ok. I have had poor service twice at lunch hour. I asked a regular if the server is always this off. Since I have had decent experiences at happy hour, this slowness was not what I used to for this place. They said it was not her norm. After returning one more time at lunch and waiting waaay too long again, I will not be going back if I can help it. Too bad, I dig taco Tuesday and Weds rib tips. BTW, I tip very well. So that was not it

I would give this place a second chance but I do not recommend the chili cheese burger. The portions are large and the fries are decent.

Horrible service. Run down sports bar cater to the people who dont give a damn about service. who ever rated this a 5 star are probably friends with the bartender, because I can’t understand why it would be a 5 star sports bar? Went here once… didn’t get service so we left. Gave it a second chance… didn’t get service so now we are never returning again.

Awesome! Stopped for lunch based on the reviews! Right on! Good value, great service and most importantly good food! We will be back to try more. The Boss Hawg salad was great and the deli sandwich with prime rib on sourdough was super delicious. The tomato bisque was very tasty.

Stopped in for the first time. Good bar. Decent food. Really great staff. This is what a neighborhood bar should be. Nothing fancy here — but a good time.

Talk about a hidden jem! This bar serves all meals at all times of day. I had dinner for breakfast! They have 3 different kinds of steak on the menu and the place is PACKED with tvs. If you have a game your trying to watch and you want affordable beer and lots of food choices, this is your place.

I have had many a hangover breakfast here and will say that it never disappoints. On that note, their selection of Bloody Mary styles speaks for itself. If you’re here for a game and/or dinner, there is definitely an abundance of televisions for whatever you’re planning to watch. The food is very good and the service is even better, even while they’re super busy!(The nachos are super huge and AWESOME) If you’re into video poker there is a whole little cubby in the back with about 5 machines or so for you get your fix. AND… they do karaōke here on a weekly basis and it gets pretty wild! Great place to come get a drink and watch the game, just don’t expect much in the way of a fancy bathroom…

Boss Hawgs is a small, local bar in SE Portland. You can find cheaper than average well drinks for between $ 3 — $ 5. There’s also a great food menu for a small bar(hot wings, sliders, fries, etc) The staff is always nice and they enjoy having fun. I’d recommend Boss Hawgs to anyone in SE Portland looking for a chill place to eat and drink.

Great food and good service me and my boyfriend come in and take to go a lot and my boyfriend is quite the picky eater but they always make the order perfect. They now have a new late night menu where every thing is 3 dollars and amazing deal! Got a chicken Cesar salad and it was not dinky in size and taste great my boyfriend loved the hot dog wrapped in bacon and we shared the steak bites all was great. Also their burgers and club sandwiches on the regular menu is awesome as well.

I’d love to call this my neighborhood stop. I’d love to say it’s a great place to grab a drink, or a great place to have some delicious food. This isn’t the case. I’ve given Boss Hawg’s 3 good attempts at providing ANYTHING that would resemble service. The first time I visited, we weren’t greeted or even acknowledged, and we were standing ATTHEBAR waiting for service. Now, 20 minutes, standing there offering a bartender money for drinks SHOULD indicate that I want to spend money there, but alas, after 20 minutes of no service, we left and went to another bar. The second time we tried(thinking, it must have just been a bad night the first time), we arrived and received the exact same treatment. It can’t be that we’ve now gone to the neighborhood bar twice and received the same crummy service! I mean, there are cars out in front of the joint, and people seem to be enjoying some decent meals and drinks in there. Is this CHEERS?! Should everyone know my name before I get service? OK, third time has got to be the charm right? Different time of day, and alas, we STILL received no service and or acknowledgement. Three stikes Boss and you’re definitely out. I’m not sure if you’re just serving a certain demographic, or if you literally think you can ignore NEW customers because your existing customers are paying your bills. I’m guessing it isn’t the latter since I see deals posted on your building trying to get new clientele to come in all of the time. What I will recommend is hiring people that know how to say, «Hi, I’ll be right with you.» That would at least be a step in the right direction. Hopefully the next time someone gives you three good attempts, you at least swing the bat once.
