i was hoping this place was going to kick ass. i lived in brooklyn for a few years and i became obsessed with Golden Krust’s beef patties in coco bread. i searched all over and this p, ace had beef patties! i was so excited! gross. stale. i was scared after the first bite that i would get super sick. they have a decent amount of groceries, so i did get some hot sauce and spices which were ok… but overall this place is empty dingy expensice and overall sketchy. sad potatoes.

They carry African food that is essential to dinner at my house. Thanks for carrying yam for fufu. Keep up the good work and may God bless your business.

They have Irish Moss… super hard to find. I looked everywhere and this is the only place that has it!

Not only does this store have a wonderful selection of produce and food products from our friends in the southern hemisphere, but the owners are sterling. Thank you.

If you want real spices from Jamaica, Jerk rub, Jamaican beef patties(frozen) and west african and Caribbean spices you can’t find any where else in Portland then you got the right place. Little neighborhood place. Now go cook some Jerk Chicken.

i’ve been looking for a place in pdx to get my jamaican food fix. i’ve been working on my jerk seasoning and making things that don’t need specialty items, like brown stew fish, rice & peas, etc. finally found this place. small, friendly, unassuming. get your salt fish, ackee, breadfruit, callaloo, cassava and the likes. lots of african ingredients and many items i have yet to know what to do with.

Just stopped here on the recommendation of a friend. Wow, wish we all had neighborhood markets like this one. I was looking for a Jerk rub for some pork ribs. Not only did I get that but the owner walked around with me and helped me plan the rest of my meal with tips on what to cook and how to cook it. It’s a small store so I was pleasantly surprised that the prices seemed comparable or close to a large grocery store. If you’re looking to try your hand at cooking something with a Caribbean flavor, definitely stop in here.
