Courtney Failor

Hands down one of the best stylists in Portland. I moved down to Eugene back in June and I still make the trek back up to Portland every 6 weeks just to have Courtney do my hair. She has done an amazing job, especially when I finally had the guts to have her cut it short. I’ve had so many compliments and inquiries of who does my hair… and well, she’s the one!!! I tell people she’s worth the drive hands down! Thank you Courtney for your amazing work!

Since moving to Portland I searched for a long time to find the color quality that I used to get at very expensive salons in LA and New York. I’ve had some rock star colorists do my color in the past (e.g. Louis Licari, Brad Johns). Furthermore I used to hire stylists for photo and music video shoots so I’ve worked with some top people in the industry. I am extraordinarily picky (to a level that even annoys myself), and after my first appointment with Courtney, I say wholeheartedly and without a doubt that she rivals them all. This woman SERIOUSLY knows her craft.
To start with, Courtney spent at least a half hour doing a consult before even starting on my hair. In that discussion she asked a ton of questions about what I liked, didn’t like, what my color experiences had been in the past and what type of maintenance régime I was looking for in the future. She brought out a meticulously curated «look book» for blonde hair that she had created on Pinterest with her iPad, and we went through images together to identify shades I liked and that she thought would work for my hair. She took a lot of time to not only prepare a plan for my hair, but then to also articulate it. Her ability to so effectively communicate how she would accomplish the desired look immediately put me at ease and made me feel that she had the expertise to get it right – this woman wasn’t going to wing it; no guesswork or surprises.
And as I expected after that consultation, my hair turned out perfectly. The color looks better than I’ve had it for years. In fact, I don’t really remember ever being this happy with it. It’s the perfect shade of blond and deeper roots for my skin tone. It looks current and not dated, and the grow-​out so far has been a dream. And her pricing, given the amount of time she spent with me, was incredibly reasonable. After what I’ve spent in the past, it really seemed like the deal of the century.
What I appreciated about Courtney the most was her unsurpassed ability to communicate effectively with me. She’s a listener and she’s also a teacher. I’m confident that in the future she wont stick to the same thing every time and that she’ll make changes to our routine so that my hair looks current, fits with trends, and remains seasonal. The combination of effective communication skills, unparalleled expertise, and commitment to staying abreast of trends, styles, products and techniques, make her unbeatable in her field. I simply can’t recommend her highly enough.

I had the same hair style and color for over 20 years. I was terrified of trying anything new. This lovely lady did a major overhaul on my hair and every day I am thankful for it. She walked me through how to take care of my hair and the mechanics behind damaging practices in my régime. She also was very patient in showing me how to actually style and work with my hair. I heart Courtney!
