Downtown Dental Care

I had been a patient of Downtown Dental Care for decades. John Lopez. Lance Bailey. Everything was just fine, until Dr. Christianson. Performed a procedure, and I had issues. He never made a follow up call, like Lopez and Bailey ALWAYS did. So I called. Left multiple messages. They were never returned. So, I went to his office, and confronted him face to face. His receptionist, that never told him I called, flat lied, and told him she didn’t know anything about it. He believed, her, and not me. So I told him his services fell well below my minimum standards, and I would find another dentist.
When my new dentist requested my records, the liar receptionist refused to send them, or make them available for me to pick up.
All in all, a most unpleasant and unethical experience. I would not recommend anyone to go there.

I just spent $ 12,000 at another dentist correcting the work Dr. Lance Bailey did that was «not up to the standard of care,» according to my new dentist as well as the lawyer who wrote Dr. Bailey a letter on my behalf. Dr. Bailey refunded me the several thousand dollars he charged me for the work he did, which I appreciated, but I would have saved a ton more money in the long run by going elsewhere.

I’ve been a patient here for almost 20 years. Dr. Lopez, Dr. Bailey and now Dr. Christianson.
The staff is very nice and they do a thorough job cleaning and examining your teeth.
I have had instances with insurance with Dr. Bailey and with Dr. Christianson but each time it was resolved quickly and efficiently.
I like their practice and will continue to be their patient.

Dr. Christianson is great! I had a wisdom tooth pulled today and was VERY nervous. He made me comfortable, the procedure was quick and painless. I am very happy with Downtown Dental and will continue to go there for my regular checkups and cleanings.

Before going to down town dental I called to double check that my insurance would cover the cost of a cleaning. I was assured that it would, in full. Before my appointment I asked again and was again assured that I was completely covered. At check out I was told that I did not owe them anything. I later received a bill for a hundred dollars. When I called them they informed me that there was nothing that could be done and that I owed them that amount. I paid my bill in full but will not be returning. I do not want to receive unexpected bills of unexplained amounts again.

Super nice staff and no bull dentistry. These folks were attentive, easy to schedule with and easy to bill with. Not super expensive and very convenient.

I figured it was time I add my two cents about this place to the reviews. My family and I have had really bad experiences here. First of all, they push sales on everything, even the services that you don’t need– which I expect but they don’t even ask you if you want something first. They ASSUME you do and you have to tell them you don’t or they’ll just do it and charge you. Secondly, they took a butt-​ton of X-​rays when my girlfriend went in. The estimate for dental work there was an outlandish sum for us and we had to find somewhere else to go. When we called asking Downtown Dental to send over the X-​rays they charged us a $ 25 fee JUST TO EMAIL THEM. The place we were getting them sent to couldn’t open the kind of file they sent so I called up Downtown Dental and as soon as I mentioned the X-​rays the receptionist turned into a total a**hole. Before I even asked for any money back (which I actually wasn’t even going to do) she told me that they had «held up their end of the bargain,» «couldn’t do a refund,» and that the office they emailed them to «doesn’t read that type of file.» Wait, what?! Why didn’t you tell us that in the first place instead of just taking our money??? When I told her that this was a ridiculous situation she replied, «yes it is» and at that point I was just in shock and got off the phone with her. All in all, the service was horrible, and I didn’t even touch base on the arrogant new doctor we weren’t even told we were being switched to. It was the worst experience at a dentist I’ve had since that one time I was a kid and the doctor refused to give me enough novacaine during a filling…

Told me that I needed over 10k worth of dental work. The dentist spent 4 minutes with me and was really condescending. Got a second opinion — turns out I just needed one filling fixed, which is why I went in in the first place. Rude receptionist. The dental assistant was nice though.

I went in there using a groupon for teeth whitening. The lady who actually did the procedure was great and walked my through the process and kept checking to make sure I was okay and comfortable. Other then that there didn’t seem to be anything great about the place. The receptionist really didn’t say too much or smile.

Previous experiences using a groupon have been very hit and miss. I just had my braces off and when I saw their groupon for zoom whitening for $ 149 I grabbed it. I called right away to schedule and they were able to see me in about 3 weeks. From the second I walked in the door until the second I left I experienced nothing but lovely service from every single employee. The receptionist was nice, friendly and professional. The Dr who owns the place stopped by after my service to say «HI» and see how my teeth turned out. The best was Natalie, the wonderful woman who did the actually prep and zoom service. So good. I would not hesitate to go back for ANY dental need.

While everyone here was quite friendly, when having a cavity filled, the hygienist/​assistant was initially going to wait for the dentist to administer the novocain. Apparently there was a holdup, and she said she would do it instead. She seemed a bit hesitant. When she went to check if she’d give me enough – she definitely had not – VERY painful. I’ve had numerous fillings previously, and have never had such an experience.
Additionally, a couple months after my appointment here, I made an appt with an ear, note & throat specialist for something I thought was ear related. Turns out it was a symptom of TMJ. This doctor was shocked that I’d just been to a dentist and they hadn’t mentioned it, as he said he could tell immediately from looking at just my bite and jaw alignment.

Highly unprofessional practice. I had an appointment scheduled more than a month in advance. They call me today, 6 days before my scheduled appointment to tell me that my spot is no longer available. Not even an apology at first just a comment that they will need to reschedule me. I come to find out that the only time that will work for me (after 4pm) won’t be open again until the middle of August. Me thinks not! CANCELLED. If that’s how they run their front office, I would hate to see how they treat my teeth.

By far the best dental office I have been to! The staff — receptionists, hygienists, dentists — are all very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you. They always worked with my schedule, and I appreciated that they were open later in the evening than most places. I saw Dana (hygienist) and Dr. Bailey (dentist), and both were always very professional, yet also fun and easygoing. Highly, highly recommend! I am very sad to be leaving town and having to find a new dentist.

The level of service is incredible! From the moment I booked my appointment through Groupon, to getting my cleaning last week to booking a second appointment with them today. Wow. The receptionist and the hygenist and the dentist were all so personable and friendly. I am so pleased to have found this dental office. I don’t think an even better deal on Groupon would get me to leave this office. My office room had an incredible view. They validate parking. And they treated my kids like superstars. What a treat. As someone with teeth problems my entire life, I have been to many dentists, and Downtown Dental Care is by far the best. Everyone who works there is genuinely kind and friendly.
That being said, I got into a bicycle accident a year and a half ago, and the fixed my two front teeth (that got chipped off) the next morning. I can’t tell you how grateful I was to have my smile fixed that quickly!
They explain all of the costs to you, print it out on a bill, and are willing to work out payment plans for those of us who can’t pay up front what is not covered by our Dental Insurance. I have ODS, and my domestic partner is on my plan to — we both go there and love it, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Silly me, I’ve been paying MetLife for dental insurance and didn’t go to the dentist because I thought I had to go to a «chain» establishment, like Gentle Dental. Wrong. I broke a tooth and was forced to find someone to fix it, so I looked at the MetLife list again and found Dr. Bailey at Downtown Dental. From the first phone call, I felt as if I was in good hands. Vickie called me back twice the same day to get me in earlier than my initial appt. When I arrived, I was welcomed warmly and seen quickly. Kelly, the dental assistant who handled most of my care, was skillful and personable. I was told what was happening and why, every step of the way. Dr. Bailey came in to do the necessary drilling, and was kind and caring, skillful as well.
They helped me get signed up with Care Credit, making it easy to pay for the uncovered part of my treatment, interest free. I’m so stoked to have found this practice. I have to go back to get my temporary crown replaced with a permanent one, and I’m looking forward to it!
