Even at 11p the food is amazing. Beautiful presentation and incredibly delicious. A little hole in the wall that is a true gem! Don’t pass it by!

I have to say that Melissa makes the best bloody Mary’s ! I’ve stopped by several times and have never been disappointed. I also love that kitchen staff really care about the quality of food they have prepared for you.

We have been here 2 times in 1 month which is saying alot since it is not in our neighborhood at all! The first time we had potato skins and we were so pleasantly surprised to find out they were REALPOTATOSKINS! So good! The second time we went specifically to have breakfast. He had a rueban with the best cheddar beer soup. I had sausage and eggs. Portions were fantastic. So let’s talk about service. Both bartenders, Trixie and Melissa were were right on point. I wish this place was close to home. P. s. all the food is home made! Boom!

I live half a block from there. While I don’t drink, I do go in there to play poker. Everyone has always been nice and friendly to me, and I like that. If I did drink, I would go there. The food is great though it’s been awhile since I have ordered any. Regarding the comment about the area being sketchy, it isn’t in my opinion. The homeless guys are very nice. Don’t judge a business because a few poor old men are down on their luck. It isn’t like downtown where you are asked for change or bothered. I love my neighborhood, and so check out the bar.

Staff is pretty rude… can’t tell what«kind» of bar it’s supposed to be. Sketchy neighborhood… uncomfortable situation all together

Excellent GF build up your own Mac n cheese. Needed somewhere close to our hotel to try some of the local beers. This ended up being a very good find. Food was super yum! Lindsey was extremely knowledgeable in all things beer. Would definitely recommend this place and come back again.

At first, I thought it looked like a sketchy dive from the outside… However, I was happy to find a comfortable atmosphere, friendly bartender, and tasty food inside(build your own mac was the YUM!). Plus beer and vodka, because… ya know, it’s a bar.

Credit 1st where credit is due: Shelley rocks the place. Period. So we lucked out that she was there our 1st stop in. In fact… we liked it so much we went back after we trekked around the city. So why 4 stars you ask… When we returned we had another bar tender, Ryan. Gag. Double gag actually. He was rude, smirking as he overheard us giggling and chopping it up. He then had the audacity to ask who was driving. I appreciate people who are generally concerned but this guy was just acting foolish considering I had 1 small drink and my friend had 1 beer. We are adults and are responsible. If you are so concerned about our level(or lack there of) of intoxication why are you still serving us. If we are gonna obey the law… let’s do it across the board. Ohhhh and don’t forget his SUPER slow service. Okay… enough bitching. Shelley rocked and brought the star count right back up!

This place had great drinks but I was hit on by way to many girls/trannies. Didn’t realize this was a gay bar. But I loved me some Shelly!!! She was awesome and served some great drinks!

Such a great place to come and relax! Don’t let the outside fool you, this place is amazing on the inside. The staff are all amazing and welcoming, especially Ryan the bartender. The menu has a nice variety of things to choose from, even Gluten Free Mac and cheese and gluten free bread. This is a huge bonus! I highly recommend this place.

The rough area of the bar was no challenge for me. I walked into escape ready for Karaōke night and was greeted by one of the most energetic waitresses ever. After ordering a pear cider and cheeseburger the KJ host showed up. I am not sure if it was the set up or just an off night but truthfully I felt like I could not hear the notes too well when singing. Aside from that I enjoyed the crowd. One patron even got blitzed and was quickly ejected. The cider was delicious and the cheeseburger and tots were to die for. mmmmmm I am def a fan and will be back.

Portland Trip — Snack #2 Objective — Pass a few hours until the Festival of Lights at the Grotto is in full swing. Pro: Chill bartender(Shelly). Chalkboards in the restroom to tag up while taking care of business. Cheap, good drinks. Try her Spanish Coffee. Con: None. Overall: Would recommend. Great locals spot. My Experience: Took the bus from SW to NE side to check out the Festival of Lights at the Grotto. Don’t know what I was thinking, but I arrived a few hours early and stood outside in the cold wind with a light rain starting to pick up. A quick stroll up the street led me to Escape. Ah. Respite. Cold(!) beer, 50c pool table, 90s music, and good company. Perfect place to spend a few afternoon hours.

A friend of mine coaxed me out from my inner NE usual haunts and I was glad that she did. Though the crowd was pretty thin for a Saturday night, the bartender Ryan was an absolute dear. We didn’t get any food, but my friend and I planted ourselves in front of the faux fireplace to chat and drink the night away. The drinks are definitely pocket friendly for the cost and it seems like they cater to all kinds. It’s really a neighborhood joint. I got a kick out of the Ikea décor in the back and wish there was a bear skin rug on the floor! They would never get me to leave. The only thing that was weird was the music. It was pretty low key with a mix of pop, R&B and hip hop earlier in the eve. By the end of the night, it was raging rock and roll. Very strange and distracting.

Good reviews on Unilocal so why not. Well it does look like a dive but looks clean and inviting inside. On the other hand the drunks at the bar and bartenders are not inviting. They had no intentions of serving us food, drinks or anything else. Ignored for 15 min and we left which was clearly what they wanted us to do as soon as they saw us. Went down the street to Cameo coffee and had the best breakfast I have had to date in Portland.
