Ah… entering the spa the stress of the day abates as the scents and sights of serenity greet you. The women that work at this salon are hands down the best. My appointments are usually with Julia, and I am always greeted warmly by Julia, Monica & Teresa when they see me. I’ve seen Julia for waxing, facials and eyebrows. Not only is she artful and skilled at her work, but she is a a gifted and empathetic listener too. I’ve worn eye make up for a lot of years, but after Julia crafts my eyebrows I frequently go without eye make up because… you just can’t improve upon her perfection! Regardless of facial, waxing, or brows, I look and feel fabulous every time i leave Ethereal and look for ward to seeing Julia the next time.

My good friend got me the deluxe spa package which gave me a 90 minute massage with Monica and a 90 minute facial with Julia. Holy crap I needed that and they were fabulous. Monica has a special way of getting out the crazy stress and running knots by making it hurt so good. You’d never guess she has that kind of power behind her when you meet her. Her room is relaxing, and she took plenty of time in the beginning to identify what kind of massage I wanted, then she gave me exactly that. Julia is not only fun to be around, but she is an expert in skin care and waxing. Her bed she uses is like a bed made for a king or queen. She immediately made me feel comfortable and my skin is so soft and glowing (this was my first facial so I was a little nervous). She identified my skin type and gave me ideas on how to better manage it… Which lately I’ve been having issues with.
This team of ladies is awesome! Go… Now… and pamper yourself. You deserve it.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review, because I’ve been going to Julia for nearly 10 years now and I love her! I’ve gotten a variety of services, from waxing to facials, and have always been very happy. (Which is saying something when we’re talking about ripping hair out using hot wax!) Julia is very friendly and always makes you feel comfortable.
Plus, her facials have helped my skin look amazing and almost completely gotten rid of my adult acne! :) I highly recommend seeing Julia at Ethereal! You’ll leave relaxed and looking forward to your next visit.

Before heading over to Villa Villa Kula to get my hair done I wanted to complete this wonderous beauty time and have the hair over my eyes shaped up. This spa is right across from the salon. How perfect can you get. Usually I get them done right in front of all the shoppers in the middle of a department store. This was a nice, cozy, warm room with only Julia. I got to lay down and relax while she did her magic. She was gentle, quick and thorough. This also included a little peach fuzz I had accumulated over time. You cannot really see it but I still knew it was there. I also told her I don’t have a lot of eyebrow hair these days but some of it was that see through color? She suggested tint which I’ve never had before. I said sure. And finally the best part of all. It was inexpensive. I expected to pay more since I got them tinted. I think if I were in the midst of all those shoppers getting it done it would have cost me twice what I paid. Shoppers you don’t get to watch me anymore. I’m going here from now on.

Heidi is not only and expert esthetician she is also a natural-​born HEALER. I am in love with her and so are many of my friends and family.
I see Heidi for waxing and, more importantly to me, facials. I have had acne-​prone skin for many years of my adult life. A condition that is painful on a multitude of levels and a place of vulnerability. A friend suggested several years ago that I see Heidi for help with my skin.
Having her as an ally on my journey to clearer skin has been so wonderful. I feel like she is fully present during my treatments and really cares about the outcome. She practices with empathy, humor, calm, and intelligence. We have worked out a plan that has been successful and makes me much more content with my skin on a daily basis. Now see her twice a month for maintenance and peels — something I really look forward to!
As for the waxing — she makes a very painful process totally bearable while doing an impeccable job!
Ethereal is in a great central location. There are always little treats of jellybeans and chocolate when I arrive. It is clear that Heidi and Julia created their relaxing, welcoming space with intention. Thanks, ladies for being so good at what you do!

Julia is the waxing queen— I also get my lashes tinted here, and she gives killer facials. I recommend her to all my friends.

Julia is the absolute best at what she does! When is anyone ever excited to get the hair waxed from their body? When you are seeing Julia, that’s when!
She has a way of making you feel comfortable and before you know it, it’s over with as little pain as possible… which is truly an art! :)

I have had a lot of massages, and the best I’ve ever gotten, by far, is from Sarah Miscoe at Ethereal Day Spa. Her massages are either an hour and 15 minutes or an hour and 45 minutes. I always get the 1:45, which I believe is $ 90 (great price!), because I have neck and lower back issues. It is an extremely thorough massage that actually makes me feel better, not just relaxed. I always leave thinking I really should treat myself more often!

After moving to PDX 11 years ago I went to many massage therapists and was quite unimpressed. All of the massages felt cookie cutter and very uninspired.
Fortunately eight years ago I met Sarah Miscoe, an amazing massage therapist. Being very aware of ones needs as well as having an excellent knowledge of anatomy, Sarah is able to truly customize your massage so it is relaxing as well as therapeutic. Can’t wait for my next visit to see Sarah.

Every visit here has been wonderful. You will not be disappointed.
I see Heidi for my skincare — waxing services and facials. She is always personable and professional. In the past, with other spas, I’ve had to go over a waxed area later at home with a pair of tweezers to catch what they’ve missed. Heidi is so thorough that I’ve never had to do this. I received a classic facial and, I swear, it was the best I have ever received. I can’t really put into words why it was so great, it just was. Perhaps it is because I feel that I can really relax in her care.
The prices here are quite reasonable compared to other spas in the area. This is what originally drew me here, but the quality of service is what keeps me.
