New to the area, what a great little place! I signed up my son for a few little camps during the last weeks of summer: soccer and dance. He had a great experience with the camps, and the instructors were very sweet. The front desk staff is very nice, too, and helped me out with registration as a newbie. We’ve also gone to the library there, and used the drop-in daycare. They have a daycare program during the morning and evening classes, but it’s also available(at a higher fee) for drop-off. Hello, Date Night! Looking forward to the fall schedule!

Convenient place to work out. The new weight room is going to be great. Can hardly wait until August 2012!

As a mother of a 11 year old and a 5 year old I have made extensive use of all the programs/glasses/camps offered by the THPRD organization for the past 10 years. I have loved getting to know the teachers, we take classes here because of the teachers. Recently, there have been many changes to the center that I’m unhappy about. It has come to my attention that the gymnastics program is moving to a considerably smaller room, reducing the amount of equipment. This wonderful program has been developed over decades, reducing it will kill it. The room needs to stay, the coach(Jackie) needs to stay, all of the classes need to stay. I rarely see the weight room being used at full capacity and the adult fitness classes are never full, making this change does not make sense. On another note, the dance teachers have quit. And one of my favorite pre-school teachers have quit. My daughter was enrolled in a class, they did not bother to let me know the teacher that I have grown to love and most importantly, trust with my child left the center. I would appreciate more communication from the management about individual classes. My children look forward to going to the rec center and the consistency of the teachers, if more changes in teachers and programs happen, we will look for other classes elsewhere because the prices are roughly the same. We are all about the teachers. period. And we will follow them where ever they go.

The Garden Home Rec center is a great little center in the back corner of SW Portland off of Oleson Rd. It has a gym and a few work out rooms and some other equipment. Washington County maintains a small library in the back where you can drop books off or pick up holds. The gym is used by toddlers in the mornings and adult pick up games in the evenings. A diverse and useful facility and is well maintained by Tualatin Valley Parks and Rec
