They lost my laptop … and really didn’t care! This was several years ago and every once in awhile I fear that my laptop(the hard drive) is somewhere out there and who knows what could happen in the future. I had bought a new laptop and wanted info transferred from the old one(the one that was lost) to the new one. OH! AND, I remember, they didn’t even do the transfer! First problem, not done in time. Had to go back several times(when they said it would be done). Second, laptop lost and staff really not at all alarmed. Instead of telling me that they will keep me updated, I had to request that they call me. Never heard from them again. I diligently check my credit report several times a year to make sure there isn’t any suspicious activity. STAYAWAY! It’s a small, cluttered hole-in-the-wall, which should have been my first clue. I thought I’d give a small business a chance, and now I deeply regret it!

Took my laptop in to get fixed, and that was just fine. When I came back to pick it up, they LOST my $ 125 laptop bag! They tried to say that they accidentally gave it to someone else who has the same computer as I do! WTF. If I get my bag back that will be amazing, but if not, they will be replacing it or refunding me for the cost of it.

Don’t let the name fool you, it’s more than a website. They have a physical site and a phone number, but when they answer the phone they say«Geekoids Dot Com.» I don’t know why. When my graphics card died last winter(on the Thursday before finals week!), it decided to take my motherboard with it. After much gnashing of teeth, rending of garments and attempts to bargain with God, I called Geekoids. Doug, the business owner, was SUPER helpful on the phone, talking me through the problem and making me feel assured that he could take care of it, and that he’d have it done by Monday. The next day, when I called back to schedule a time to bring my computer in, it was a different story. It was as if Doug had never heard of me or my computer, and his confusion didn’t make me feel very confident. I delivered my(beloved, custom-built) machine to him and he said that he would probably be able to get to it by Tuesday. Excuse me? I clarified that he’d stated he could do it by Monday. He sighed heavily and told me there would be an extra charge for the rush job. I asserted that he’d never mentioned this fee before. Grudgingly, he agreed to have it done by Monday with no extra charge. I spent the weekend on the phone with these jerks as one unforeseen complication after another took place. They needed to reinstall Windows XP all of a sudden. Oops, they had to replace my CPU as well. Did I want the cheap one that would suck, or did I want to spend $ 100 more to upgrade? The whole experience was miserable and wound up costing me much, much more than I’d been quoted over the phone. When I finally went back to pick my baby up, Doug spent the whole time bitching about how he’d spent all weekend working on it and usually it would cost, like, a bazillion dollars more and he was rushed and blah blah blah. Never mind that he’d quoted a lower price and said he’d have it done that day. Hey, at least my computer works now!
