I worked with Aaron on ordering 21walnut stair treads, 36″ long by 11−¾″ wide by 3.5″ thick The treads are for some floating stairs,. which is a central«sculptural» piece in the house’s architecture. Aaron recommended a great product and the treads arrived pre-cut and partially finished here in San Diego a few days before expected. So first, score A+ for fulfilling their order on time. When it first arrived I thought some of of the unfinished treads looked gray and Aaron offered to expedite me extra treads if I wasn’t satisfied once they were finished. So score A++ for standing behind their product with superior customer service. It turns out after they had a few coats of polyurethane the grayish tones completely disappeared and turned into a rich warm dark brown. So score A+++ for a superior product in them first place. Aaron was great to work with throughout the process. I would love to visit their warehouse and browse, and expect to order again from Aaron at Goby when it comes with other pieces I’ll need to complete my project. Many thanks.

Great experience with the staff here, and great selection of black walnut! I’ve scoured Portland looking for a big hunk of wood for a mantelpiece as part of my fireplace remodel. I wanted to do reclaimed wood, but it didn’t really fit the style of my home or the other materials I was using for the fireplace. Goby had the PERFECT piece for my fireplace and it really makes the whole room! It was pricey but worth it.

I’ve done business with Goby for many many years, and they always go to great efforts to help me get the right material for the furniture making that we do. They are dependable, and honest, and the prices are fair. Remember– wood is a natural material with checks, moisture to manage and you as a user need to know what you are doing in order to know how to buy hardwoods. Art always does his best to supply me with great walnut.

The wood in here is TODIEFOR. Why not fix up your place with cool wood trim here and there? I did. I’m in the process of building a bookshelf now with big olé slabs of walnut with natural edges. Just last month, I was suckin down a coffee in Roman Candle Coffee & Pizza, Duane’s latest creation of a place, and I was admiring the big seriously PHAT walnut tables. I asked Duane(the owner) if the wood was from Goby. He just smiled. Oh yeah. Killer common tables for people to share. Really classes up the place. The woman in the office at Goby is super nice. I really like her style. I just walk in there once in a while to shoot the sh*t and drool on the slabs of wood that come in now and again from trees in the Portland area that were too old and had to be cut down before they fell on somebody’s car or house.

The most awesome supplier of fine wood products ever. They specialize in black walnut and maple, but they have a few other species mixed in. Great selection of curly maple. Nice people and a great shop that can do anything you need. Highly recommended.

I purchased a slab for a dining room table at Goby, dealt with a employee named Phil. The picture of the slab was beautiful, after several months I received the slab via truck delivery. That’s when I realized the slab was wet in the photo. All the pictures came out looking great but the actual slab wasn’t nearly as dramatic looking. Today Phil calls me after 7 months and tells me I owe another 102 dollars for the weight of the slab. He also wants another 100 dollars for delivery because the trucking company said they used a lift gate. The table weighs 1200 lbs, and they didn’t use a lift gate. The driver didn’t help get the slab out of the truck, I had 7 guys waiting to move it. All and all I wasn’t that happy but the table looks great and I did save a lot of money buying it from Goby.
