There’s a reason Kylie has 5 stars across the board (even in the hidden reviews); Kylie is a superstar stylist. After moving to Portland over three years ago, I dreaded every 4^th week as I couldn’t find a barber or stylist who truly listened to what I wanted and matched my needs with their input and their skills… that is until I found Kylie in August of 2012. Kylie’s barber studio is located in the back of Este’s formal wear for men. Her space is inviting and comfortable. She is personable, warm, and trustworthy. Trust me, if you let Kylie experiment with your hair, people will take notice and you’ll continue coming back every 3 – 4 weeks.

Kylie’s a badass. I found her though Unilocal two haircuts ago. She has given me two of my best haircuts ever… she is attentive, intelligent, perceptive, and detail oriented. Great experience, trust the 5 star reviews and go see her.

Found Kylie when I walked by her window and decided to look her up on Unilocal.The 5 star rating is well deserved. I’m not one who likes to think about his hair much, so finding a professional who is excited about hair and I can trust to take care of mine is huge. The vibe is excellent with that local Portland feel. Will be going back again and again.

Kylie’s talent precedes her. I admired a strangers hair, that I asked them who styled and cut it. Over several years I have found Kylie’s skill admirable. She continues to provide detailed work with a passion.

Kylie was absolutely awesome! I went to her for the first time today, and it was probably the best haircutting experience I’ve ever had. She put so much care into the whole process and made me feel like she was paying very careful attention to each part. I love that she was less concerned about what I typically do with my hair and instead suggested a whole new style that she thought would look great with my face. She was right!
Overall, very highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been looking for a place where I can get my hair cut where there is attention to detail, a fair price, a pleasant atmosphere and intelligent conversation. I’m fairly confident that this is it. I saw Kylie yesterday for the first time and she did great work. I was particularly pleased with her ability to zero in on what I wanted. I’m definitely looking forward to a return trip in a few weeks. Two thumbs up! Oh yeah, her online scheduling system is really easy to use.

I started going to Kylie many moons ago.
Before I found her, I always just shaved my head at home. So heading in, I had zero idea what style I wanted. But Kylie being the hair extraordinaire that she is, got me headed down the right path. (Although, I don’t recommend this for everyone. If you go in with NO idea and just say cut it… you better be happy with anything you get that looks at all decent).
The parking is a blessing and a curse at Kylie’s. First off, it’s amazing that there is a parking lot at all in this neighborhood. Probably 90%+ of the businesses in the area you just park on the street. With that said, it obviously fills up. So just be ready for that.
The shop itself is in the back of Estes clothing store. So if you have never been before, just walk towards the back and you will see it. Try not to be distracted by the awesome selection of ties in the shop!
The environment is very classy and laid back. Two leather massage chairs to use while you wait (if you even need to wait). A fireplace, a TV, a great selection of magazines to read. You will most likely be offered something to drink. Kylie almost always has wine and other yummy options.
Another blessing and curse: This is a very dog friendly barber shop. So if you love dogs (like I do) then you will probably be in dog heaven during many trips to Kylie’s. If you are allergic to dogs, then I recommend contacting Kylie first or something. But all of Portland is very dog friendly. So you are probably used to these types of things if dogs make you go ACHOO!
Kylie’s cutting style varies. My hair is very short. I have seen her cut dudes hair that is longer and super styled. And she has also cut my wife’s hair many times. So she obviously knows what she is doing in many different situations.
The pricing is just right. $ 20-​$ 40 depending on shampoo and scalp massaging. Considering this is a one woman show, I think that is pretty decent. This is not an impersonal, factory line, non-​relaxing hair cut like chains.
You can check out her schedule and make appointments online using Schedulicity. This is SOOO helpful in planning when to go. My wife and I live out in the burbs and we like to know in advance when we should go especially if we want our hair done before a specific date.
One last note based on my wife’s input: As I mentioned, I’ve been going to Kylie for a while. When I first started dating my wife, there was for sure this sense of, «This girl cuts your hair and massages your scalp? Whoa, she is gorgeous. I’m not sure about that.»
So… dear girl friends and wives: Kylie is not someone to worry about. In fact, you should probably just become friends with her. Because she is awesome and hilarious. And now-​a-​days, my wife has her hair cut by Kylie more than I do! Plus, you can just come and sit in those leather chairs, play with the dog, read magazines and drink wine while your man has his hair cut. Ya know, if you like those sorts of things. :)

Kylie does an awesome job. I would always look forward to going to see her as I always walked away looking and feeling good. Even my wife likes the results and now says, «time to go see Kylie» to me when I start getting a little shaggy. I trust her completely and haven’t had to tell her what I want or what to do for years now. I just show up, get a frosty beverage, plant my butt in the chair and enjoy the whole package. She is fun, talented, entertaining and her scalp massage is 2^nd to none.
I now travel almost 40 minutes each way for an appointment and it is well worth it.

I moved out to Portland a little over 3 years ago. I was a little nervous about finding the right person to cut my hair. After a little trial and error, I found Kylie and have been going to her every month since. She is so good, all I have to do is sit down and I know I will get a great cut without an ounce of explanation. She is great conversation, and the set-​up is perfect. Nothing like unwinding with a haircut, and glass of whiskey, and a scalp massage after a long day of work. Try her out and you will not be disappointed.
