Best Chinese food in town. Period. But it also has Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese goodness. The atmosphere is simple, but it is very clean and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommended!

Wow! Absolutely blown away! So good! Had the salt and pepper squid and it was melt in your mouth delicious and the sizzling green onion ginger oysters made time stand still for a moment. The special pineapple seafood rice was simply the best fried rice I have had in 20 years! And the honey chicken was so tender and flavorful! Cannot believe they have been here 27 years and we just now, tonight discovered it! We will for sure be back and thank you for the amazing dinner!

I first ate here in 1992 and can easily say that they have the best pepper salted squid, bar none. I have eaten at many an establishment but have yet to find anyone who makes squid as well as they do. I’ve moved away from Portland but whenever I visit I make it a point to eat here at least once, if not more. My usual order is pepper salted squid and Mongolian beef. Their quantity, quality and value for money has remained unchanged in over 25 years. Just had dinner with family and ordered 8 dishes for 7 people for a total bill of $ 72!

It saddens me to give it a measly 2 stars but this cannot go on. It just can’t. I have been eating here for many many years it has always been my neighborhood go to Chinese restaurant but lately there have been huge cut backs. I mainly go here for the pepper salted squid and the consistency of the tastiness of the squid has not faltered much(except when they don’t change their fryer oil, you can taste the grit) however WHENITCOMESTOGETTINGPEPPERSALTEDSQUIDTO-GOITSJUST A RIPOFF! I cannot stay silent. The squid used to come in a standard to-go white Chinese box but because it is prepared fresh the squid would end up soggy due to being in a cramped paper box. So they switched to clear plastic containers… but by doing so you get ripped off. You are paying 11.50 for the squid yet you receive this(refer to my review picture) I have not eaten any pieces and was shocked as hell to find the amount of squid in this box is less than a small bowl of rice. ALLBECAUSETHEBOXHASRAISEDINDENTS which makes it appear they are giving you more squid but are not. I will not be eating here, it’s too much of a rip off.

This is my go-to carry-out meal. I love the dry sauteed green beans dish — perfection! I don’t usually get meat, but the veggie dishes are good. Great place in a pinch or when you’re craving a certain veggie dish! Nice and friendly staff, parking lot, great experience.

The people at Hoho’s are very nice. On my first visit I had sweet and sour soup and potstickers-yum! This time I tried wonton soup in a very bland broth. Wontons were good though. Kung Pao chicken had so much celery, and just a few pieces of the water chestnuts and bamboo shoots listed in the ingredients. Since the people are so sweet and the place itself is clean and charming, I will do my research and try other things. Szechuan cuisine is slim pickings in Portland!

Great food but the young lady that works there, needs to work on her listening skills when she takes orders over the phone and not try to rush me off the phone. I will go back for the food, of course. But it would be nice to receive what I expect to order. I ordered vietnamese hot and sour soup and specifically said shrimp and she gave me fish.

Hadn’t been here in ten years before today. Still the best Chinese food in Portland.

Ho ho holy shit! The worst Chinese slop we’ve ever eaten. It just goes to show that coming from a particular country does not make you a great cook. Greasy not in a good way noodles. They have no clue how to make fried rice and the chow fun could be used as a torturing device. Never ever again.

Got takeout from Hoho looking for good Chinese in the hood. Better than some other Chinese options in town. Not the best I’ve ever had. Fairly limited options for us veggie folk, but what we had was fine. No great, not bad.

Salt and Pepper shrimp forever till I die. Portland is full of the worst Chinese food and I have had Chinese food from various parts of the country. So I was shocked when I have eaten here a few times and it has been better than awful. Definitely in my top 5 Chinese(I know it’s not traditional Chinese food) places in the US(that I’ve eaten at, anyway).

Hubs, the boy and I decided to go on an eating adventure after dropping our daughters at Oaks Park for a dance. We were headed somewhere else when we realized it was closed so we came back to Ho Ho. Let me begin by saying its a no nonsense restaurant with minimal ambiance, which is fine with me. But when we sat down and got a look at the condiment tray, I was a bit concerned. The sugar was a solid block, the salt and pepper and sauce container were thick with dust and grime. The tray itself was gross with grime, too. We ordered chow mein with crunchy noodles, broccoli beef, orange flavored chicken and rice. We got the simple pleasures appetizer and egg flour soup. The soup was not hot and had a strange slimey texture. The flavor was ok, but it was hard to get past the texture. The orange flavored chicken was ok-very dark and strong in a heat way but so much batter, hard to taste the chicken. The broccoli beef was very flavorful with crisp veggies and the chow mein veggies and chicken were very good also. A lot of noodles for not a lot of chicken and veggie. The bathrooms were clean-which was a surprise. We probably won’t return. It was spendier than they were worth and not very large portions.

Really good! We had their house fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp and honey walnut shrimp! It was delicious. I would say that the honey walnut shrimp could have a little less mayo… :)

Another restaurant that I grew up on was this place, HoHo. This isn’t a huge restaurant or anything and for the price you would think it isn’t that great. But it’s one of my favorite places to go when I crave Chinese food. Hot and sour soup, wontons, general tso’s chicken, pepper salted squid and the list goes on. I love all their food. If hoho had delivery, I’d get dinner delivered.

Can’t leave 0 stars. Too bad, because that’s what we would leave this place. The chicken was over cooked on the outside, undercooked on the inside. Sweet and sour pork sauce was terrible. Its better from the grocery store, although this may be from a can. Someone should learn how to make it before opening a Chinese restaurant. No soy sauce, no hot mustard, no fortune cookies? Wha? Hot and sour soup is gross. Here’s hoping we don’t get food poisoning. Ugh.

I love Chinese food, and when I first moved to Beaverton ages ago i bemoaned the lack of good Chinese food. When I finally moved two blocks from hoho my prayers were answered. Soul satisfying Kung Pao and eggplant that makes my heart happy. Great prices and good service make this a must eat in SE.

My partner ordered the Sweetheart Chicken, which was flavorful and of good quality. We had potstickers to start, which were also tasty and well-prepared. My beef dish(I can’t remember which one, as it’s been a couple weeks now, but it was a stir-fry) was just nasty. I let my partner try it, just in case I was being too particular. He indicated that I was right — the beef was super soft(mushy) and flavorless. I am a beef-lover, and either(1) that was not beef, but some other animal, or(2) it had been sitting in a tenderizing solution for hours if not days. GROSS. The waiter did not come back for a while, and once I tried it, I wanted to send it back and get something different. After 15 minutes, my partner was pretty much finished with his. Then the waiter returned and asked how we were doing. I told him that the beef did not taste right, and he offered me another dish instead. I explained that my partner was already done eating, and before I could say anything more, he looked at the plate of beef and said, «Well, I can’t refund it because you ate half of it.» This was not true, as the other«half» was on our personal plates, mostly unconsumed. I digressed though, mainly because I was already disgusted at the taste and just wanted to leave. He did, however, take a few bucks off the price of the dish. All things considered, it’s a shame we won’t be back, because the Sweetheart Chicken and the potstickers were good. But that WASNOT beef!

Went here to get takeout because we were having a major Chinese food craving, plus, it was the closest to our place. The guy that took our order said it was going to take around 20 minutes to get our food ready. We got there around 30ish minutes later, and our food was ready, so that was good. But, on to the food. We got honey walnut shrimp, vegetable chow mein(which is not on the menus I’ve seen online for some reason, but it exists!), and salt and pepper tofu. The honey walnut shrimp was alright. It wasn’t the best one, but still satisfying. We got pretty big pieces of shrimp, and they were cooked well. The sauce could use a bit more seasoning. My only complaint is that I could kind of taste the presumably old oil the shrimp was deep fried in. The vegetable chow mein wasn’t bad either. It had a lot of tofu and vegetable pieces, all cooked well. The sauce was pretty tasty, although it was lacking that burnt wok taste that you get from legit Chinese places. Salt and pepper tofu was also alright. It was a decent portion. Surprisingly, it could’ve used a bit more salt. Overall, it was alright. Not the best Chinese food we’ve had, but not the worst either. I wouldn’t mind trying their other dishes if I get another Chinese food craving in the future.
