The food here is ok. Nice selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Also a lovely selection of salsas, which I love. However, the burritos fall apart shortly after tucking into them. I now order mine to go so it’s wrapped. Also, they never seem to clean the tables here. Every single one I’ve ever sat at is sticky. Very hipster– style service.

Tried this place on a whim because the Ethiopian place next door was out of injera. If I would have viewed the Unilocal comments beforehand I would have kept walking. I guess I can’t always go on reviews anymore. So flipping glad my husband insisted we just try it. They have a vegan menu and I ordered the soycurl burrito. Oh. My. Gawd. The flavors were amazing!!! This place is bookmarked and we will be back with friends.

I really like there food but there customer service is horrible. Full of yuppie hipsters. messed up my order twice. Caused me to be late to work, waiting for food I paid for. No apologies, and acted like I was wrong for being upset. Plus overpriced for small portions.

Your food should not come out to you on a plate from the kitchen cold. I received cold beans twice… gross. Save your money, travel a little farther and go to the other locations. Both are way better than this one. Counter service not very friendly and stressed out by the kitchen. Kitchen messed up my order and people were waiting forever for their take out.

As a displaced San Diegan in search of the great burritos, my quest broght me here. I asked the employee what he recommended only to find him a vegan. So I went with the old Carne asada burrito. I picked a few salsas from a well appointed bar and began. First bite, first problem. Rice and beans. The mortal enemy of a good burrito. Next issue, when I finally encountered some meat, it was diced fat and gristle. Ugh. In all fairness the beans had a creamy smoothness which was alright but at 6 bucks for a short burrito, my rear end feels a little sore and my stomach remains unsatisfied. I could actually compare this to Taco Bell and it wouldn’t be that cheap of a shot. There must be something better here and I will find it. I must.

No! Chile relleno burrito is like a grease trap from the stove wrapped up with half a cup of sour cream! The paper bag leaked grease all over the car. Veggie burrito had a bunch of good veggies but was somehow devoid of flavor. No salsa or anything included. Also it took about 20 minutes for two burritos to go.

Can never go wrong with this place. Tons of great Vegan options, good service and the best self service salsa bar(homemade). Always affordable and consistent. Must have!

This place is almost awesome. Everything I have had is fresh and tasty. My rating would be 3.5 if I could. Here’s my beef: They use poor cuts of meat. The last deschebrada burrito I had was so fatty, I had to pick a majority of the meat out of my burrito(or my mouth.) The next time I tried the carne asada instead, and it was very chewy with a lot of gristle. Again, I picked out almost all the meat. I am so glad I was eating alone! I know I can be a bit picky and squeamish about meat, but my last two trips really bummed me out. On the plus side, they have a good variety of sauces, and the prices are reasonable. I bet if you order vegetarian this place is legit.

Quick, easy, and super tasty! My partner and I hit this spot up often, as there are plenty of options for me(meat eater) and him(veggie). I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes for my orders, but I usually come on off hours. I love their salsa bar, and the staff is friendly enough. Same great menu they have at all locations, I believe.

I’ve had some bad meals, but this one by far took the prize for worst Mexican food ever. Firstly, I called in an order and when I went to pick it up I was handed my food in a paper bag and I got about a block away before the entire bag was soaked through. I look inside and the plastic to-go box that contained my food was halfway melted and eaten through and my food was leaking out everywhere. I bring it back, they re-make it, and hand me another paper bag. This time I got 2 blocks before I felt liquid running down my arms and the packaging had leaked again. By this time I was really hungry so I book it home to unload my food onto a plate. To my disappointment, a soggy mess of what was supposed to be chile rellenos, slopped onto my plate in a gooey, room temperature, mess. I live 4 blocks away. How did it get cold so fast? Unless it just wasn’t warmed well in the first place. I’ve eaten a lot of chile rellenos and this was the poorest excuse I’ve ever attempted to ingest. Even after microwaving it. The deep fried outer shell was so soggy it had the consistency of a wet sponge and the inner egg and chile tasted like they’d been reheated after sitting in a freezer, covered in freezer burn, for about 2 years. Then there was the«barbacoa» that came with it. Just trust me on this and go to Chipotle next time. This was like trying to eat wet beef jerky. It was so dry and chewy that I needed to take breaks in between before I could get it masticated enough to swallow. I also got a lovely side of undercooked crunchy rice(yum!) and some beautiful wilted lettuce to go with my refried beans and sour cream. The only nice thing I can say about this dump is that the woman behind the counter was very kind and friendly and promptly replaced my food, although it was replaced with equally disgusting food that’s not her fault. She’s not the master chef behind this disaster.

This is close to my school, and I have been here twice now. Love the menu they offer and the salsa bar! The meats are not hard and old… AND their burritos are HUMONGOUS!!! As I mentioned there are many choices as well as vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend to friends and family

I’ve come here so often now that I just have to give them 5-stars. First, the food is amazing. Like I said before they have some of the best enchiladas in Portland. I’ve had many types of burritos, tacos, and enchilada from this place and all are wonderful. What I love most about their food is the serving sizes and they give you sooo much meat with your meal. Come’on most place skimp on meats so much. They usually only give you a scoop of chicken(I’m looking at you Chipotle!), but no, no not Los Gorditos! This is the only location I’ve been to so I can only speak on this one. But the food is super tasty and fills me up something wonderful and the prices are great. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Also, they have this orange looking spicy sauce that I absolutely love. It’s spicy but actually taste good as well. Try it! Also, the customer service here is always impeccable. Our non-profit frequents here often and they’ve catered some events for us, they are so awesome to work with. They’ve even given us some free burritos and given a discount because we order so much food. Overall, Friendly? Yes. Quick? Yes. Affordable? Yes! You can’t beat that.

It’s not the food that’s bad, But the service this last time was really bad. The guy behind the counter was obviously stressed, and that’s okay because it happens, but he was projecting a little to much at the staff and customers. An when we originally ordered we asked for extra sour cream in both burritos. Neither burrito had ANY sour cream … My boyfriend went up to the counter to ask for the sour cream we had ordered and then they made him pay again for it, which I did not know about because I would have never paid for something we had already asked for, paid for, and had been forgotten… but oh well. We waited almost 10 minutes and the guy never brought out the sour cream– again we had to go up and ask for it and it was obvious we were forgotten about(which let me clarify there was only about three other people in this place). Our burritos were then cold and we were so annoyed by the service & the entire vibe being let out in the store we left. The food isn’t bad at all and this place has a lot of potential but the management needs to get its sh*% together…

The food was great, the service was horrible. I Ordered extra sour cream in my burrito and got none, I went to get a side of sour cream and paid for it. After 5 minutes I go back to the counter and ask for my sour cream because he still hadn’t brought it out. No response other than«oh!» He runs to the kitchen and grabs some. The whole time his coworker who was counting out his tips was cursing and telling people to call the management and complain because he didn’t have proper change. If there are two employees, it wouldn’t be hard to solve the problem yourself. Take money to a bank and get some change, it’s a Monday before 5 o clock and banks are open. Don’t curse out your employer and inconvenience your customers with a bad attitude

After reading through some of the reviews and not having tried the previous locations, I figured I would give this place a try. I arrived around lunch time, and thought for sure this place would be packed and overly loud. Turns out, I was wrong on both accounts. They were steady busy, no huge line, and the noise was non-existent. I grabbed a menu right away and noticed it was counter service, which is cool. They have multiple menus, vegan, vegetarian, and meat. A little odd to have three separate menus, but whatever. Ordered three carnitas tacos, because I love me some pork! I usually get a horchata to drink while out for Mexican, but alas, they do not serve it. What a shame. After paying for my tacos, which came to less than five dollars, I grabbed my water and some sauces from the salsa bar and sat down. I wasn’t waiting more than five minutes before my food came out. Three overly full carnitas tacos with a light dusting of onions and cilantro. They do not skimp on the meat filling, which is very much appreciated! The meat was flavorful, and juicy. I will definitely be returning.

Dear Los Gorditos Norte, you need to hire an extra person at this location. I eat out a lot, and I see this situation sometimes, and then I don’t see the restaurant a year later. I want to see you a year later. Great food(I’m a meat eater– I had a chimichanga with carne asada – it was delicious), people want to eat it, unfortunately there’s not enough staff to pump it out in a reasonable time frame. I was very happy with my meal, and the smell of everyone else’s meal here, but 2hrs before closing, I don’t like to hear that you’ve run out of the essential ingredient to your namesake dish and a handful of other dishes. I don’t want to wait 25 minutes for a side of rice. I don’t want to have to compete with the people ordering on the phone to get my order in. The woman at the counter was busting her ass to help in the kitchen, get orders in, and answer the phone – all the while totally keeping a pleasant demeanor. Unfortunately, everyone waiting for their order looked all-but-defeated by their wait. This is the sort of food that takes time, I get that, but I felt like what I experienced tonight, and what I’ve been told is not an unusual circumstance, had everything to do with lack of staff. It’s not the worst fix to have to make Los Gorditos Norte…

It’s great to have another Los Gorditos in town… especially that isn’t as crazy crowded, and no chance of getting stuck waiting for a train while dying of hunger. This one has the usual great salsa bar, though it would be nice if they had some reusable bowls for salsa like the Pearl location… the paper boat just doesn’t do justice. The squeeze bottles are ok for some of the salsas, but a few are too chunky for them and just get messy. I love that this one has a ton of fresh cilantro, limes, jalapeños, and onion on the salsa bar… We came a couple of days after this location opened and it was great, as always. We came again for Valentines Day dinner(my wife picked, yes I am that lucky!) and it was as we expect. Fantastic selection of vegetarian options, this meat eater usually goes for the veg garbage burrito… because I can’t ever pick just 1 «meat».

This is a really hard review for me to write. I had been SO looking forward to a Los Gorditos in my neighborhood as soon as I found out they were opening. I’ve spent many sunny summer afternoons on the Apex patio, drinking amazing beers and chowing down on their mouth watering burritos. This new location, however, bears little resemblance to the greatness that is their SE12th location. The chicken burrito wasn’t necessarily bad, but it certainly wasn’t anything to write home about. The bland meat was only made palatable by an absurd amount of sauce. Veggie burrito was also not too special. Way too much lettuce and not enough flavor. The real disappointment for me was the soycurl burrito. I have no idea what the hell they did to this thing, but it felt like there was just as much cooking oil in here as there was real ingredients. As much as I hate wasting food I had to give up on it towards the end, as I really felt like I was going to vomit from all that grease. My plate had a pool of oil on it nearly an eighth inch thick by the end. The service wasn’t that great. I noticed that they started putting the chairs up and flipped the open sign well before their posted time of 9pm. If the employees want to get out of there earlier, change the closing time, don’t just close up while people still might be trying to come in. Due to their proximity to my house I will absolutely be back here again. I really really want to like this place, and if the food and service improves I will absolutely update this review.

A Taqueria Los Gorditos in my neighborhood? The good Lord in heaven has answered my prayers. Los Gorditos has long been a favorite of mine. Move over NoPo Mexican, there is a new sheriff in town. This location has the same great menu as the others with lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well as hearty meats! I’m partial to the burritos. I recently got a bean rice and cheese burrito with onions and cilantro that was fantastic. They grill the tortilla which is clutch in my opinion for putting together a serious, legit burrito. Minus two star for messing up my order a few times. My hope is that this was a slip up and they rise back to their excellence they so rightly deserve. Staff is a major downfall of this location. I have watched staff chat in lieu of making food/taking orders. Food sits in the window for extended periods of time. That grilled burrito I mentioned that is so clutch — only done about 50% of the time, and I’m ordering the same thing. Burritos are made at half size every once in awhile. Consistent quality control is just not happening. Clearly still working out the logistical kinks for this location. Part of the magic of Los Gorditos is the salsa bar and this location is no different. They have a handful of salsa items, pickled goodies, cilantro and onions and limes to go hog wild with your food garnishing as you see fit. A far as Taquerias go in general, Los Gorditos Norte is very clean and welcoming. Lots of tables to hang out and enjoy your food. They take cards and cash — for awhile other locations were cash only but never fear my card only carrying friends, they got you. If your in NoPo and are in need of some authentic delicious Mexican food I have a hunch Los Gorditos will not disappoint.
