The Mercy Corps Event Space is okay for an event. Their location next to Skidmore Fountain could not be better. There is plenty of art. Some seats in their presentation room have power outlets near them. Still, it could have more space and more seating. They have chairs in the presentation room, but seating outside of there leaves more to be desired. Exits can be a little crowded for a large event. The chairs in the presentation room were the standard wooden kind. I went for a tech event. Mercy Corps arranged the event skillfully. There was a little buffet and they served beverages in a separate place. Booths could easily demonstrate new products. I really liked the view of downtown Portland. The bathroom was very clean. Most people seemed to enjoy themselves. Mercy Corps Event Space is fairly competent at what it is tasked to do.

Great event space, support + location. Thanks to Rachael + the staff of Mercy Corps, our event went off without a hitch. Our organization hosts many events @ a variety of PDX locations. Mercy Corps, by far, is the easiest, most professional and most supported locations we’ve used.

Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. If you look on their web site, you’ll read an impressive amount of information about a wide variety of global projects. 5 Stars for that and an NGO that is worth your continued and generous support. However, based on a recent personal experience with a Mercy Corps staff member regarding a certain Cal project, I’ll shave a Star off. The promised DDR advice and assistance was MIA.

When it comes to certain things, I’m a suspicious son-of-a-gun. Relief organizations is one of these things. Several years ago, it became my mission to find The One. When it comes to charities and donations, here’s a mind-numbing amount of information available online. After wading through humongous volumes of articles, statistics, opinions and propaganda, I decided that I liked Mercy Corps best. I like them for their beliefs and dedication, for the way they work, for the width and depth of their campaigns, and for the sheer efficiency in which they get things done. I really like that Mercy Corps has no hidden agenda when it comes to helping people. 5 Stars — Give! Give until it hurts!
