In my world traveled opinion, Monsoon has some of the best Thai food on the West coast. Quit a tall statement to make I know, but it deserves it. The food is good, enough said.

This place is nice and homey and cute. Food is decently priced and the waitress(who was taking care of everyone else) did a great job all around. I got the yellow curry and ordered it medium spice but it wasn’t spicy at all so I added a lot more spice from the table. Also got the pad see ew which was really great. The noodles were wider than I was used to but I loved it.

I dig this place. Though admittedly, my Thai restaurant experience in Portland is limited. I’ve designated this place as my «go-to» joint for Thai food – for over 8 years now. It’s comfortable. Spacious. Clean. Not noisy. You know what you’re about to get… and it’s good.

YUM. Love this place. Out of the way, unassuming, with great food and great prices. Always LOVE their curry and the shrimp mango curry was no exception. We also tried the combo appetizer platter which was good, only thing that didn’t work was the spring roll which was very greasy, but the wontons were delish and I love the salad rolls with peanut sauce! Nice way to spend Christmas dinner!

Love Monsoon. Always fast service which is nice for take-out orders. Curry and pad thai are delicious. They are open late which is convenient. One of my go-to Thai restaurants.

Went here on a date on a Saturday evening around 6pm. It was quiet and very few patrons, which made for a great time. My date and I were able to chat and not shout. The Thai Iced tea was delicious as was the Fried Rice that I got. My date had the Beef and Broccoli, which he quite enjoyed. The waitress was sweet and quick, the prices decent. Will be stopping in again.

Pretty good little neighborhood place. A friend of mine lives in this neighborhood so we’ve been here a few times. Prices are reasonable, portions are good; everything’s on point. Nothing is next level delicious, but that’s okay. If it was a rainy day and I didn’t want to cook, this place makes top five on the list of where I’d go.

This is one of my favorite Thai places in Portland because it is good, ol’ Americanized comfort food. There are other Thai places I love, too, like Khun Pic and Paa Dee, but this is my go-to place. I usually go for the noodley goodness, like pad se ew, pad kee mao, and kao soi. They have a sweet, lovely green curry. It’s kid-friendly, and the wait staff is friendly and fast.

This is my takeout home base. I’m a drunken noodle person on the weekends and a Pad kee maower during the week. But ALWAYS a fried spring roller. The person I live with and whose food judgement I respect stands by the pineapple fried rice(which apparently is hard to find done well). The crab Rangoon tastes like what I imagine it’s SUPPOSED to taste like. Apparently I’ve been eating Disney World rangoons my whole life? Why did no one tell me orange rangoon is WRONG. JUSTWRONG!!! ? Thank you Monsoon Thai, thank you. For the better-than-usual freshness and the fact that when I call to order you always tell me it’ll be just 15 minutes. Sometimes I even order from the car.

Damn good chicken pad see ew. Nothing fancy or special here, just really well done classic Americanized Thai food. The chicken is tender and flavorful, the dish is well-proportioned, and the noodles are some of the best wide rice noodles I’ve ever had. They are really soft and not too chewy, and don’t clump up like some I’ve had. I ordered take-out so I can’t comment much on the space or service, but the dining room seemed nice and everyone working was happy and accommodating while I was inside. If you want something a little fancier check out Mee Sen down the street, but for basic, go-to Thai in Mississippi, this is the spot.

This is decent thai food, you won’t be blown away by the food here but it’s still above average. Pros: very friendly service, fast service, and the food came out in about 7 minutes’ wait. Cons: Rice costs extra with soup, and if you order anything with«peanut sauce», you can expect it to be drenched. I could not recognize my pad thai because of how much sauce there was, but it tasted alright. Swing by if you’re in the area and craving thai, but beware of the sea of peanut sauce!

Portland is quite abundant in their Thai cuisine and Monsoon Thai is certainly a solid place to grab Thai food in PDX. As a(mostly) vegan, I loved how most of the dishes could be made without fish sauce, shrimp paste etc. They have vegan options for a large portion of the dishes, which I loved. In addition, their ice-teas and coffee are amazing and definitely worth a try. Service is quick and the staff is lovely. Would recommend!

We did take out from Monsoon last night and it was really satisfying. We ordered the papaya salad, the peanut curry, pad Thai with clear noodles and the eggplant stir fry with steak. I would have preferred more eggplant in the eggplant stir fry and the papaya salad wasn’t anything special but the flavours of all the dishes were great. The peanut curry really stood out and the pad Thai was all that you want from a pad Thai, sweet and salty topped with crunchy peanuts and bean sprouts. Their brown rice is phenomenal and their peanut sauce is perfect; not too heavy or sweet. This place would definitely be my go-to for take out Thai and Netflix nights.

Back when I lived on Albina, this was my go-to comfort food. The place is physically unassuming(we went for the first time because it was adjoined to our old laundromat), but the food was always damned good. Nostalgia clouds my memory a little bit. I was never very impressed with the rice dishes from Monsoon Thai, which were sometimes a little too sticky and other times were overcooked into sort of a rice mush. But the chicken Pad See Ew… large noodles cooked in the right kind of Thai soy sauce, with nice big pieces of chicken and Asian broccoli. Combined with an order of the Crab rangoon, this was my default«I’ve had a bad day and I need to relax» food. It was so cheap, too, and open fairly late. Portland is home to a lot of great Thai food, most notably Pok Pok. Still, this was a place where I could always get food quickly and would always enjoy what I ate.

Thankfully I didn’t experience a pad thai catastrophe as mentioned in other reviews. I got the pad thai to-go, the service over the phone was friendly and the time it took to get my meal out to me seemed pretty fast. My boyfriend seemed to be a bigger fan of the pad thai than me, I mean… he really liked it. It was pretty good, I won’t deny that, but it did have a touch of that tomato’y flavor — just enough — that notched it down from being a new favorite.

Tom Yum soup might be one of the most amazing flavors I’ve ever tasted. I can’t even explain what this was like… just excellence. The chicken pad Thai was alright. Pretty standard good pad Thai. If I need some good soup and I’m in Portland I’ll definitely be back. It’s a good clean establishment and the device is very nice and warm too. Highly recommended.

Sad to confirm the reviews about the pad Thai. It was absolutely drenched in sauce and was pretty inedible. We left most of it(as shown in picture). Waitress asked if we wanted something else, to which we said no, and we were still charged full price. It’s a shame because our waitress was really nice and the appetisers were pretty good.

Solid place for thai food. 3.5 stars. Quick(very quick) service. Got the Drunken noodles with chicken, which was good, nothing spectacular. I feel sad given it 3 stars, but the thai food standards in portland are so damn high that it won’t be fair to the other places.

My all time favorite Thai place in Portland. I usually always get the chicken pad Thai. It’s got the perfect amount of sweetness. The bean sprouts and carrots are always fresh. I get it mild and have tried the medium and it pretty spicy. I usually like a bit of spice but I’d take it easy at monsoon. I also really like their pumpkin curry and the stir fried vegetable dish in brown sauce. The service is consistently good, friendly staff and no long waits.
