Buyer beware. If you buy a product(my case a Bona Vita electric kettle) and it fails, they will not exchange it for you even if you have the receipt. Was told I must go to manufacturer myself. Happy to take my $ when I purchased it but not willing to do the work of returning if product fails. wow

Great coffee at a great price. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Since we started roasting our own coffee my wife says it’s the best coffee she’s ever had. Everyone should buy their coffee here.

I was casually walking down the street and this place caught my interest. I enjoy drinking coffee, but I feel like I could learn more. I was always interested in making my own coffee at home so I decided to walk in. This place has everything! I spoke with the employee who was also from San Diego. He was extremely helpful and explained to me what items would satisfy my taste in coffee. I wanted something efficient and reusable. I was pointed to the coffee socks and a dripper that were fairly priced. Overall this place is awesome and the customer service is great!

I always enjoy a good cup of coffee. Lately, cold brew is an addiction. In turn, of course I’d walk in this store to find anything that could help me out. There was only one staff person in the store(wish I got his name) who was very helpful answering all our questions about coffee. He helped us choose a pour over device as well as reuseable coffee socks for the grinds. He even went through the steps of how to maintain these coffee socks for us coffee newbies. I also saw that they offer bean roasting classes — if only I lived here I would go! I’d make continuous visits if I lived around the area.

Not a bad selection but the staff ruined it for me. The man working was very unfriendly and condescending

Tech \ gadget junkies, behold. The ultimate for coffee hounds in Portland. My eyes glazed over and my mind went numb as I observed the many ways available to brew the«perfect» cup of coffee. They have green coffee beans to roast at home. They have roasters for home. And to dazzle your hipster friends, they have many«sci-fy» options to brew coffee, whether it’s for a single cup or for multiple cups. You won’t be priced out of your wallet here. Beware of parking for cars, as spaces are hard to come by. Don’t care about bike parking. Period. Not a factor when purchasing large, fragile items.

I did the home roasting class today, it was outstanding. Trevin is extremely knowledgeable and very fun and easy to learn from. I highly recommend the class, we went over the 2 hours and I really didn’t want to leave. I look forward to being a customer of Mr. Green Beans and learning more from Trevin in the future!

This place is the Coffee God’s gift to the home-roaster or soon to be. They always take the time to help me narrow down my choices for beans and their prices are fair. If you want to learn how to roast, they also have classes. I hope Mr. Green Beans goes national some day.

Mr. Green Beans is full of coffee wonder! I love my coffee but am not experienced in the ways of conjuring the sweet nectar myself. Mr. Green Beans bestowed upon us knowledge and wisdom to make the perfect home-brewed coffee! And double bonus points are awarded for giving us the much-needed ins and outs of the neighborhood. We are moving in just a couple blocks away and Mr. Green Beans has already made us feel at home. I cannot wait to live so close to such a top shelf local establishment!

This is the store for you if(1) you want to learn how to roast your own coffee beans,(2) want to buy unroasted coffee beans to roast, or(3) want to brew coffee beans that have been roasted someplace :-) Very knowledgeable and attentive staff, great selection of hardware from the inexpensive to the very dear, well worth the visit.

Amazing selection of DIY supplies, with a knowledgable staff that’s always happy to talk shop. Prices are usually way way better than what you see online, and anyway you can hold the gear in your hands before you buy! Beyond coffee, shop here first for: Canning Extracts Perfume making Essential oils

After years of not making coffee at home, I now cold brew it courtesy of Mr. Green Beans. Finally, a system I can’t screw up and a product that is consistently wonderful. My Toddy is awesome, I save a minimum of $ 100 /month AND do-it-myself. Staff here was so helpful and empowering, price was great and I found a great supplier for home food preservation. Long may you prosper.

What a terrific find in Portland! A store of just green coffee beans!(For us home coffee bean roasters, this is a great find.) After spending half our morning and afternoon having a mediocre breakfast across the street, Mr. Green Beans was a great find. Finally, something productive other than sitting around waiting for breakfast(lunch by the time we ate). Anyway, I digress — this is a fresh, clean mom-and-pop store with a great variety of coffee’s. They are willing to spend the time to help educate customers about their various coffees and their origins. Prices are very reasonable. I really wish I had a shop like this near me!

This is where I get my stash of green beans. Right now I really like there El Salvador beans 7.75 a lb and I roast them in a popcorn popper the kind that blows from the sides.

Mr. Green Beans got it all from raw coffee beans to DIY coffee roasting, home soap making, cheese making, canning and preserving, and cultured foods also known as lacto-fermented foods, are high in natural probiotics. I love the fact they got everything about coffee, all different kind of brewing systems, grinders, filters, accessories, or even replacement screens for your Bodum, or just a box of #4 paper filters. You won’t find high priced espresso machines but you will find many other methods. If you’re looking for an Aeropress, a pour-over like the Hario or Chemex, a siphon pot like a Yama TCA-5, or one of the many styles of French Press.

Love this place. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would be roasting coffee beans at home, in a city that is teeming with great coffee places and roasters… but I do! And I save money to boot by buying green beans, as well as supporting a local(and very knowledgeable) merchant. MGB has a wide variety of beans available in bulk or prepackaged on the shelves in 1 or 2 lb bags; I usually pick up a 2 pounder, which I roast slowly, and lovingly at home at my leisure, much to my own delight and the chagrin of my neighbors and occasionally the fire department(the process makes a lot of smoke!) I roast a few days worth at a time, and the smell of it brewing is to die for, let alone the taste. We always get the Columbian. MGB can help you purchase a machine as well, for which you can spend, I’d say, anywhere from $ 150 — $ 500, but I’ve read(tho can’t swear by) that one can also roast at home w/o special equipment using a cast iron skillet in the oven or one of those old air popcorn makers. The unit I have is strictly for amateurs, I suspect, the brand is «iRoast», and it’s a simple push button affair. Click. Click. You’re in the roasting biz. MGB also has home soap making supplies, make your own cheese, and some support for home canning projects, as well as offering classes on the above. Fun! Fun! Fun! And really nice and helpful people. The only thing missing from Mr. Green Beans is Mr. Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose.(Ok, a bad pun, and I am showing my age). But go there. Buy. Roast. Enjoy.

Taking a roasting class at Mr. Green Beans has forever altered the way I look at coffee. Not only is the flavor of freshly roasted coffee beans phenomenal, but I love that it is so simple I can do it at home in just under ten minutes. Mr. Green Beans is a terrific«domestic arts» shop on Mississippi that focuses on coffee roasting, but also offers materials and classes on cheesemaking, soapmaking, preserving, and fermentation. After a really informative class where we were encouraged to ask lots of questions, we were sent out into the world with a pound of green beans and an instruction booklet that contained an overview of what we learned. I use my Supportland card every time I go in for green beans. I wish I had more time to take their other classes. Very friendly and helpful staff. This place is one of those gems where I feel incredibly fortunate to have it close enough for me to stop by on my way home from work instead of ordering beans online and spend the next week waiting impatiently by my mailbox.

Thank you Mr. Green Beans. You were out in the courtyard on a sun kissed spring weekend day. You were so polite when you offered to make me a cup of coffee. You then started to overwhelm me with delight when you said: «You can have a cup of coffee made through a wire mesh filter, you can have it french pressed or air pressed.» Air pressed? What the? Tell me more! Finely ground(an espresso grind) coffee gets put into a small clear plastic cylinder and the coffee is slowly pushed through a stainless steel disc filter with fine holes in it(similar to an espresso machine) then hot water is added to make what is essentially an ‘Americano’. Holy crap. It was the best cup of coffee I have ever had. What’s even more exciting? I walked into the store and was delighted by all the amazing products; from roasting your own coffee at home to canning and fermenting supplies.
