The beer is decent although below average for Portland. The food is horrible. In fact, it’s shockingly bad. We moved into the area a year and half ago and were excited about this restaurant which is walking distance from our house. We went several times and met friends and family there. I’ve had a couple people who rarely complain about the food ask not to go back there. Now we drive to other restaurant just to avoid the Old Market Pub. The Pizzas were decent. Hamburgers… horrible. In fact the cafeteria at my work makes a burger that is 10 times better. Even the french fries were surprisingly below average. French dip was bad. Salads were not good but it’s hard to ruin a salad. Salad dressings are surprising bad. The location is great, the atmosphere is good, and I’ve had very good service.

Writing in review of recent reviews… The sections in that restaurant are huge. The servers go from one side of the restaurant to the other. And they are understaffed. You may think it’s not busy, but with 2 servers and a bartender it’s a lot for a Sunday afternoon. Get in the industry, you’ll know. They have parties of 2, to 20. Busy or dead, they have a lot to do. Drinks, apps, lunch and dinner. They have a lot more going on than you think, busy or not. Dessert options are the managements problem not the servers. Don’t blame servers for bad food. Plus the owners just changed the menus and the computers on the servers. They are doing the best they can! Night managers are the best, they do everything they can for the restaurant and their servers. Desi and Kristin rule that place!

Great service. The Turkey Bacon Cheeseburger was delicious. It’s loud, but it’s a pub. It’s spacious and there’s pool tables. Overall a great place!

Old market pub is a great place to grab a drink and watch the game. Bartenders and servers are wonderful and friendly(and beautiful). I can stop by here any night and it’s popping. My favorite night is Sunday believe it or not, staff that night is by far the best and most fun. Highly recommended.

Serivce was slow even though it wasn’t a full house and they had servers standing around. only got one water refill I had burger, it was goodish? I thought the beer battered frys would be better. We both didn’t like the gravy or the artichoke dip the dip had a strange taste, she had the humus wrap and really liked it. I actully really enjoyed the root beer. Took the server 20 mins to come back after asking about the three dessert options and giving us the menu back even though we were done eating. Haha guess that’s how long it takes to pick from three things.(they lack dessert options) we had to ask another sever if she was on lunch or ever coming back. The root beer is amazing!!! The seat backing in the place make it hard to see customers and their needs plus the«rock» as the people on the other side shake them from movement haha it was funny to see my girl spill food on her self but after a couple more times it wasn’t funny anymore . The cups they give water in are crap and should be glass. The plastic they use it cheep and warn from use and age Dessert was ok shared a brownie . I don’t write a lot of bad reviews an I was in a great mood still I just think it needs some work.

Very family friendly! It’s a great place to bring lots of friends and have a wonderful time. It’s standard bar fare, but the pizza and calzone are where it’s at. Also, they’ve got some really great house brews. Definitely worth checking out.

Breakfast of Garbage cans! The service was fine until the food came, which seems to be the real problem here, but all the same, I’ll never step foot in this place again. My girlfriend took two bites of her breakfast sandwich, the second only to confirm the food was as shitty as she thought from the first bite. When the waitress asked about it I told her the food was not edible, the eggs taste more like butter than eggs and I couldn’t explain why the hash browns were nasty, but they sucked. She replied she was new and hadn’t tried it yet and walked off to run my debit card. When the check returned the item had not been taken off the bill. She could care less that a customer did not eat their meal. Just pathetic for a server. I STRONGLYRECOMMENDNOTDININGHERE!

Stopped by for lunch on a bike ride. Pro: — nice outside seating — plenty of seating — friendly staff — beer selection was decent and the Kolsch was good Cons: — food wasn’t that great. — fries were super boring.(And had to pay extra to upgrade from chips) I would go to 4 stars if the food were better.

I’ve driven by this place thousands of times and only managed to come here twice, once by accident when I got lost trying to get to SE Portland from Milwaukie ten years ago, and tonight. OK, maybe I was Trying to get lost that night. But tonight I was here on a mission to try Old Market Pub with some friends I’ve lost touch with lately. As with every single time I’ve been by, the parking lot was completely packed, as in not a single spot to be found without driving through twice. It seems like there are plenty of spaces, but the lot is ALWAYS full and cars line the street and fill the grassy field next door. I’m not sure what the neighbors thing but I’m glad I’m not one of them. Finally on the second pass through someone was leaving and I was able to snag their spot in the back, about a half mile(or it seemed like it in my high heels) from the entrance. Upon entering, there was a sign that said please wait to be seated, but no one was there to seat anyone, so I wandered around and then went back to the front area. Wash, rinse, repeat, still no one there. But I was meeting some friends so I figured I could find them myself, and I did. The place is a lot bigger than it looks from outside. My friends had already ordered some pizza, apps, and drinks so I didn’t experience the service much. The food was way more on the healthy side than I expected. I was thinking«bar food» and it was definitely not that. It tasted more like«gluten-free vegan brewpub» which isn’t a bad thing, just surprising. There were lots of things on the menu that were healthy-sounding. I don’t care if it’s free-range, I’m here to eat it, not make friends with it. I don’t drink either, so vegan, gluten free, and free range brew don’t sound super appealing to me either. Another plus, the place was very clean. I didn’t see any messy tables at all. It was noisy, not an annoying noisy, but a «hey people are really having a good time» noisy. It’s a big open space, and there were plenty of open tables available; so didn’t feel crowded at all, which was surprising since the parking lot was packed. The people working there were all busy, not slacking around, and they seemed glad to be there. There is also a large patio area for outdoor seating. It wasn’t very warm out but it wasn’t raining so there were people outside. They have games here, lots of shuffleboards, which looked fun. I haven’t played that in a really long time. I would have liked to but my friends would have been mortified so I didn’t suggest it. I think I saw an old pacman game or something like it too. I have a few healthy-type friends, so I will definitely be back, especially now that I know they also have non-alcoholic drinks and such too. It sounds like a perfect place to hang out with my weird friends who like to drink beer but eat healthy, when I’m the opposite, I like junk food but don’t imbibe. Can’t wait to go back!

Either it was coincidence or the owner read my previous review but regardless, OMPub totally upped their football coverage experience! Volume turned up and a variety of games Now currently enjoying their amazing pale ale soaking in the sun on the outside patio(which is dog friendly!) really love the relaxed vibe at this spot and the wide variety of food and drink. So many places to sit and so many of(honestly) some the best home brewed beer in town. Pizzas here are a their forte and the sandwiches are good too. Looking forward to more evenings here in the sun while I wait for another NFL season to begin.

The beer was good. I had a Caesar. It was wilted. I had the pork. It was fatty and flavorless. I tried the burger. It was grey. Enough said.

Well, we’ve been back twice now since my original review. Once over the summer, when we sat on the patio with friends who invited us. The second time was a few weeks ago, inside, at a larger group social function. The patio service was pretty awful. Slow, the server didn’t seem to care to be there, and was inattentive. The indoor server did a great job. However, Old Market still has what I think is literally the worst food in town. It’s absolutely terrible. Even the most basic of things, like a burger, nachos, or french fries is stomach-turning gross. Like the outdoor server, the restaurant seems to just not care. The ingredients are sub par. The prep is sloppy, and many items taste old, especially the fry oil… Beyond yuck. Old Market seems to take advantage of the fact, that they are one of very few restaurants within walking distance for many. Why should they care to put out a decent product when people will come anyway. I used to come here 10 years ago, and I remember the food being pretty good. I came a couple of times 4 – 5 years ago, and seemed everything was decent then as well. Things have REALLY gone down hill. Bummer. 2016 #10

Solid choice in the area. With food and beer, pool tables, and shuffleboard, there is something for everyone. Service was great, super friendly. We were there on a Saturday night around dinner time and the place was packed, which means super loud. However, we were meeting some friends for a bite to eat and to play pool, so we went to the pool room in the back and just ate there. It’s much quieter and we were able to have a conversation and catch up easily. The food is ok, fairly average. I had a turkey burger and fries — while ok, it wasn’t seasoned much so I added ketchup and salt to try to get some flavor from it. My husband had a burger that had bacon mixed into the patty. Great concept, but he’s a big guy and said it wasn’t a very big burger so it didn’t fill him up the way he wanted. Our friends said the drinks were well-poured and all in all it was a perfectly fine experience. I don’t know that I’d come here for the food specifically, but to grab a drink and catch up with friends it’s a good choice.

I wanted this place to be so good(it is close to home), but it really fell short. Service was slow, food was sub par(my sausage on a hoagie was equivalent to Costco – which isn’t bad when it is only $ 1.50 – which this wasn’t), and the overall vibe wasn’t anything special. And to top it off, we got the wrong check at the end. We may go back for a date night since it is close to home, but the proximity is really the only thing this place has going for it.

Holy cow is this place loud! We decided to go a bit earlier this time as we noticed that it was loud in the past, but that was on a busier night during peak dining hours. This time we went around 4pm. Immediately after walking in, the waitress tried to take us to a seat in the middle of the noise maelstrom, so we asked for a quiet location. Too bad there aren’t any. Sigh. We stayed any way and were under-awed by the food this time. Previous times it has been pub-grub good, but this time it was obvious they weren’t paying attention to details or flavors. I had a chili dog and some tater tots. The chili on the dog was bland and had no depth of flavor. All I got was heat and a bit of bean flavor, no real spice or hint that it had been cooked any longer than minimally necessary. My wife had a buffalo chicken sandwich that looked anemically pale and tasted mostly of blue cheese. The kids had chicken strips and a burger, and they were OK, but the burger patty was really, really dry. The tater tots were OK, but a under-salted and a bit on the greasy side. The beer I had(Granberry something or other) was intensely sweet and not very pleasant to drink after the first half-pint. The Flanders ale I tried a taster of was just too funky to be good. Yes, I know it was brewed with Belgian yeast, but even so this was on the too far gone end of that spectrum and had nothing its ingredients list to temper the funk. I think this is the last time we’ll be throwing our money at this pub. If you can do something about the noise, then maybe it would be worth an occasional trip. On the plus side, the service has always been excellent.

One of my favorite places to go when I have my 3 year old with me! It’s very family friendly which is great as my girl likes to run around and explore booths and see people. The food is great pub food, I highly recommend the calzone which can easily feed 2 people. The happy hour has wide variety and good prices and I like the casual ambiance. Great place to relax with the fam after a long day!

This place is large, has ok beer and usually some sports on the TV. The menu is divers and the portions are generous. During the drier months there is a parking lot side patio. This has all of the makings of a place I would love… The food is hit and miss and the last 2 times did not taste good at all. The service also is variable. Some staff is kind and other flippant and appear not very excited to be working there. If you need a place for a large group whit varied tastes and no reservations this may be an ok choice but otherwise I would look elsewhere. If the food and service improves I may find my way back here. Note: there is a nice pool area, wiht pinball and shuffleboard which is nice.

It’s a big space, with a teeny tiny bar. I tend to prefer to sit at the bar, especially since it’s all ages in there. Sometimes, my conversations are best in a over 21 ear range. Anyhow, I think the bar sits, 8? The bartender was busy, and for the most part attentive. I tried a couple samples, and didn’t really find a wow beer. Settled for an okay IPA and then then tried their wheat. Nothing overly fantastic. Maybe it was me, maybe it was them. I will try the beers again. Ordered some stuff off their happy hour… Okay a crap ton as I was HANGRY! The sausage on a stick was good, but boring mustard choices. Ordered the spinach dip, it was pretty dang good but runny and served with chips. I thought pita chips or something else would have been better. Ordered the meatball sliders… Nice flavor but weak buns– maybe a bit old? They weren’t all that memorable. Oh! But the stadium nachos were the bomb! Totally eating those again. Oh gawd, how can I leave out the Caesar Salad??? HORRIBLE. I mean, it wasn’t even edible. Okay, if I just wanted to eat dry chopped sorta brown romaine it was edible. Nope. 2 bites and left. This is were the server could have really won me over. Should have asked and removed from my bill as I obviously did not eat it. Oh well, what’s $ 4 I guess. Other food was served at the bar — and the pizzas looked good — so I will branch out if I return. Who knows. I did have a great visit with my friend and we did leave a hefty tip since we occupied the bar for a spell.

It’s pretty good. Nice place to go for a happy hour. Their beers are really the only reason I go here. Their food is fairly average bar food and I really think their sweet potato fries could be improved. One thing that is nice is there is a ton of Room so even when it’s super busy you will be able to grab something to eat and drink. They have shuffleboard, pool, video games, and video poker. Who doesn’t love throwing 40 bucks down with a few buddy’s and milk it away on pressing a glowing button as things flash on the screen. We will be back for the beer and most likely their happy hour food.

Came here with a bunch of co-workers for happy hour. We were in the back in a huge party room and had mostly appetizer food. They got some unique drinks but they were not generous with the liquor at all. The food was OK at best, tasted like anything that you can get from an Applebee’s. I am quiet disappointed they only have boneless wings and doesn’t have the bone-in. They are a strong believer of boneless wings because according to them… bone-in is a ripoff. Too bad their boneless wings were dry too!
