Based on another Unilocal review I tried this cool spot on NW23rd. The friendly service was efficient, the food was outstanding. The ordering process and wait time can be a little slow(compared to Chiptole), but that is becuase the food is superior. The portions are large and the burritos include chips on the side. Plenty of tables to eat at, they serve various drinks if that is your thing. Overall, very pleased.

Good enough for a quick fix to hunger. It’s not too expensive and the portions were large. I have an issue with any Mexican restaurant that doesn’t have carne asada. The staff has been nice and cheerful both times I went. The place is clean and the salsa was pretty good. I’ve only lyrics tried the steak burrito so far.

I love Pepinos. So, so much. Grilled fresh Mexican is my favorite brand of Mexican, take it from a half Mexican from Arizona which basically makes me Nacho Libre. Hits the spot when you need some taqueria tacos for a really good price. Generous portions too.

I’m at a loss. American Mexican food is a waste in any state which doesn’t share a border with Mexico itself. This place felt like it was mocking me. Watered down Mexican food is a good way to describe my meal here. I had a Baja bowl and it was decent, though my beans were literally watery. I also ordered a tortilla soup and it was lukewarm. Finally, i was appalled by the way I could see the crust on my guacamole. Clearly it was a few hours old and the browned top of the guac was scraped off and thrown onto my tray. Yikes! My boyfriend enjoyed his margarita, though.

I love this place. I try to come here at least twice a week. The Baja bowl with your choice of meat is the way to go! It’s a healthy and fresh tasting Mexican food, similar to some of the other popular Portland Mexican spots in the north and east areas. Btw, ~ 3pm-7pm is happy hour and the margaritas are really cheap and hit the spot! Comfort food and really, really nice staff! 5 stars

Walked in-starving I might add-for a quick on the go burrito. The menu board posted on the right as you come in is filled with a variety of options, so there’s something for every palate. The chicken, rice and bean burrito I got came with chips-definitely recommend the green sauce on the burrito for an extra punch. Yummy burrito at a yummy price-will go back.

My favorite is shrimp tacos for $ 3.95 and a Pacifico beer, beats similar joints from Puerto Vallarta to San Antonio. I think the secret is in the homemade salsa sauce. Must try for yourself!

They serve reasonable price FOOD! The portion is really big and I couldn’t finish my Large Traditional Chicken Burrito at my lunch time but it costs $ 5.xx only. I like the burrito because I don’t really like burrito with too much seasoning. I feel like they serve healthier Mexican food. I think I will go back soon.

Wow. Talk about a hidden gem. Well, okay, maybe not hidden but I have been to Salt N’ Straw and Little Big Burger on 23rd several times and never even noticed this place. It’s slammed right between the two. I had the Margarita Burrito(under $ 5) and added chicken($ 2) and it was amazing. The sauce was delicious and the meet cooked just right with a little crisp on the edges. I was hesitant that the prices would mean that the portion was smaller(I just left the gym and was starving.) The burrito is large and they fill your bag with chips to take with you. It will fill you up! Great food and great price. Plus if you need dessert Salt N’ Straw is across the street!

$ 3.75 for the«El Cheapo» veggie burrito. It’s big enough to satisfy. Eat in and get chips with full salsa bar privileges. Yum.

You can not beat this place for the price. Amazing food, great quality, great portion size and it’s so affordable. Love going here for lunch, this place is a gem on 23rd.

This is the only place in the Northwest area that has good Mexican take-out. They are consistently good. The speed is average but I don’t mind knowing that I’m supporting a latinx run business. The sweet tequila burrito is unique and one of my favorite menu items. The«El Cheapo» burrito is less than $ 4. Way better quality and tastes better than a $ 9 burrito at Chipotle or Qdoba.

Awesome tacos! Had the chorizo, chicken, carnitas, and steak taqueria tacos and liked them the most in that order. The chorizo had so much flavor and the chicken was well seasoned. The steak wasn’t as flavorful but still good. The corn tortillas were soft and serving size was pretty good for the price about $ 2 – 3 each and got full off of two of them.

it was our first night in Portland and we’ve been traveling all day so we were feeling a bit famished. while walking through this part of town, we came across this place. we’re from LA… we LOVE mexican food, so we decided to give this place a try. it was probably 15 – 20 minutes til closing as the staff was already starting to clean up but they were super nice and insisted that that we dine here. my hubby had the breakfast burrito(yes, for dinner) and i had the two taqueria tacos(chicken and steak) combo which comes with a drink and chips. we saw that they have happy hour special on their margaritas for $ 2.50 which runs from 3pm-6pm, since we already missed the happy hour special, i was hesitant to ask what the regular price was. but then we find out that regular price is only $ 3.95, we went ahead and ordered a couple! the food was super delish and the ‘ritas were refreshing. and i have to say, the staff here is fantastic! the customer service here is just unbelievable! love this place!

3.5. I’m a bit spoiled coming from California, where cheap Mexican food is everywhere. Pepino’s is by no means expensive, but the same food elsewhere would be a lot less. You pay for the zip code though. It’s got a great location on 23rd, which makes it easy to pop into for lunch while shopping. Not so easy regarding parking. Again, zip code. Service was ok. We were there at 8PM, and they were clearly shutting down(they close at 9). I didn’t feel particularly welcome… We ate way faster than I would have liked. The chicken burrito was good. Nothing fancy, but good; I’m not totally sure there was more than one bite of chicken in it though. I subbed a plain tortilla for the tomato one and think it was a good choice. The salsas are supposed to be good but they were out when we got there.

I keep coming back to this Pepinos. There is even a more upscale Mexican place across the street, but Pep’s is cheaper and just as good. Let me put it this way… I ate all my tacos before I remembered to take a picture of them. Also there’s this guy who works there who I recognise from somewhere. We wave at each other from down the line every time I come in so I know he recognises me too but I can’t for the life of me remember where… It’s not just from Pepino’s. Wherever I know him from, he makes some comida buenisima and I always leave that place knowing I’ll be back at least one more time.

Walking around on NW23rd, I was looking for somewhere to have a snack. Pepino’s Fresh Mexican Grill has a big selection of tacos, burritos, tortas, etc. with your choice of meat. I chose a «Pepino’s style» taco with pastor pork, pinto beans, salsa, and shredded jack cheese on soft corn tortillas.(The other«Taqueria style» taco they have just has the meat, cilantro, and onions.) My taco was really good. The meat was nice and browned with charred edges, and all the ingredients were plentiful. In fact, there was so much stuff in it that I couldn’t pick it up and eat it like I’d ordinarily eat a taco. Had to use a fork! Very pleased to get such a large portion for my money, and it was really tasty too. Whenever I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll be coming back here.

I ordered a salad and it took 20 minutes as I watched people who ordered after me get their food… If you can call it in because it’s not worth the wait… No hate this place for this reason… Don’t come if you are limited with time…
