Ya know, I’ve passed this place many times and never had the desire to stop. It just doesn’t look that promising from the outside. So I finally decided to look Poppa’s up on Unilocal and was surprised by all the reviews they had. Finally gave them a shot and definitely became a fan! It’s kind of hard to get a good latte out in Beaverton but with this place right around the corner from our house my coffee crisis has been solved permanently. The baristas definitely know their stuff and serve a pretty good latte and cappuccino. Non dairy options were available and prices were decent. The staff was friendly and the overall feel of this little coffee shop was warm and homey. Also bonus points for selling Kombucha and growlers!

Went here for the first time the other day and I love it! I don’t drink coffee, so I judge everything out by there white chocolate steamers! And it has my approval! I wouldn’t have noticed this place if it wasn’t for my job I’m at we help supplies some of their cookies and QBs. I’ve honestly been passing by this place since I moved to Cedar Mill, and I live down the street! Everyone is friendly. They have a variety of snacks such as Henry Higgins bagels(one of my fav bagel places!) Add .50 for cream cheese. Scones, omega bread(banana bread), harvest bread(zucchini, carrot and blueberries), variety of cookies, and the even have some gluten free cookies if I remember correctly! A really good variety of things! Inside there is a good number of seating, space is small so they provide a toaster so you will have to toast your own bagel. Which I really don’t mind. Because by the time your bagel is done your drink is done about the same time! There is 2 benches and a table outside you can enjoy your drinks outside in the sun! I highly recommend! Everything is local. SUPPORTLOCALCOFFEESHOPS!

I’m going to tell you about a famous person. I’m going to tell you about the proprietors of my local coffee shop. Their family runs the shop together, and the employees seem like family. That’s the thing, their employees seem like family! So –they– seem like family. It’s like a family house where some people come in and talk and hang out. Some hop through in a hurry on their way somewhere and some sit alone for a while, with their computers and what not, but that doesn’t tend to last long. Before long there will be conversations and discussions. There are the most interesting people who come through, and while each of them has a different story and they all live or maybe work in suburbia. But it’s still Portland! Maybe one person sits at a desk and one person works with their hands. But we are all neighbors. And somehow we know exactly where to find this coffee shop, that’s not like a coffee shop but more like the local family house. It is amazing what is possible in a space like this. These guys are exactly what Portland is all about. Because that place wouldn’t be like that if it wasn’t for the way this family is, and the environment they inspire. There is a Starbucks down the street. And some independent place that has been decorated up in a fashion that makes it feel sterile. There is one other independent place, but it’s where people meet mostly for business and the people there are never friendly. But Poppa’s Haven really is. That sense of family is infectious. It sinks into you, and you want to know them and to know the people around you. And you want to go back as often as you can. Someday they are going to tell stories about this time when someone famous or other here sat and had conversations in coffee shops in Portland just after the turn of the century. It might not be Poppas’ Haven, but the point of the story won’t be about that famous person, it will be about the time and the place and the culture we have here. The famous person in the story is only there to get you to read it, it’s a way of selling the story about our culture in Portland and the amazing things that transpire in places like Poppa’s Haven. That famous person might as well be you.

Organic, bold and delicious coffee, this place is a gem. I come here almost every day because of quality drinks and great service. Everyone is super friendly, knowledgeable, and with a small coffee shop set-up this is the perfect way to start the day!

Suburban mothers overhype this place, but it’s alright. Comparable price to chain coffee places, but papa’s haven has a more limited selection and a similar quality. The only thing really going for it is the more homely atmosphere.

Interesting vibe. Feels like a place to stop by when on a road trip or a pit stop. Got the Dirty Hippie and their zucchini, blueberry and carrot bread and they were both delicious. Cute place.

Nice folks, pretty quiet, and good reasonably priced coffee in Beaverton which can be hard to find. The place is nice and spacious with lots of room and tables for people to bring their laptops and take advantage of the free wifi. The only thing that irks me(which is kind of? not the fault of the coffee shop) is there was a woman with a toddler who was allowing her daughter to crawl all over the table with her street shoes on like a it’s a goddamn jungle gym or something. Surprising no one, the woman just stared at her phone like a zombie. I dunno about you, but I don’t really want to eat off of a surface that some gross sticky kid has wriggled and stomped all over. I kind of feel like the staff should have said something but you know, nobody wants to offend anyone… and apparently this is acceptable behavior these days. I feel old.

I love the aesthetic of this place, but was really underwhelmed by my beverage(matcha latte), which was really watery and weak-tasting. This café is close to home for me, so I’ll probably give it another shot, but I’ll probably go with a coffee option next time and hope it works out better. UPDATE(2÷18÷16): Bumped up the rating by a star. The owner, Nate, got in touch with me and offered some more insight into the particulars of the matcha latte here. Given that it’s made with matcha whisked into hot water and then topped with steamed milk, it’s understandable that it doesn’t have the richness of texture that other lattes might. Had I known this, I probably would have gone with something else when I was in last time, and had a different experience. With that said, even with not really liking my beverage last time, it really sounds like they’re putting a lot of thought into what they’re building here, which I respect.

This place was warm and welcoming but my coffee was just«fine.» I guess I prefer the coffee shops of Portland like Extracto or Albina Press. This place is more like a local version of a Black Rock with flavored milky coffees. Not my thing but apparently caters well to the community because the place was busy and the reviews are good. I just had a cappuccino and a chocolate chip cookie. The drink was definitely better than what I would have gotten at Starbucks or Black Rock for that matter(blech!) but I like them creamy and short(they don’t offer the 8 oz version like I’m used to). The cookie was delish though!

Not in Beaverton very often, but had to go out there this past week to run a few errands. I needed a latte in a bad way, and turned to trusty Unilocal for suggestions. This place popped up with really good reviews and was within a few miles of were we were, so we decided to try it out. First off, it was packed. Parking was pretty scarce and there was limited seating, but that wasn’t a problem for us because we took ours to go. I ordered a soy hazelnut latte and it was really good. Service was very friendly and fast, and they had a nice assortment of baked goods that looked delicious. We weren’t hungry, or I would have tried something. Maybe next time if I’m in the area again. Overall a really good coffee house, and I’d highly recommend if you are in the area.

Really nice people, and I think run by a family. They have fantastic coffee from sleepy monk in cannon beach, and great healthy food choices. The seating is comfy and I think there is free wifi too! I love their chai tea lattes, dirty hippie lattes and Mayan mochas.

I adore this place. It’s nice to see a coffee shop that aspires towards solid coffee quality and branches out beyond the usual Starbucks franchise. Plus, they’re located in a rather suburban are of Portland, which doesn’t always have the hip coffee shops that are littered everywhere in downtown Portland. Poppa’s Haven uses Sleepy Monk roasters from Cannon Beach, which is pretty bold and smooth. I’ve ordered things from their Mayan Mocha(decadent yet sharply spicy) to chai to cardamom lattes. The coffee shop is a little dingy and not exquisite, per say, but the baristas are friendly and it’s a quiet atmosphere – perfect for getting work done! And lastly, note that the prices are rather expensive; my cardamom latte, for a twelve ounce, cost 4.20(plus a 50 cent addition for soy milk).

Wanted to find a place to do some work and stumbled upon here. They have pastries from decadent creations which was nice and I tried some macaroons and a salted chocolate cookie. Neither was good enough that I’d want to buy it again. The worst part was my ice coffee that was very watered down. I saw that it was made from some syrup or concentrated coffee where they put some at the bottom then filled the rest of the cup with water. I’ve never seen that before and I would have preferred the more traditional brewed coffee that is ice or cold brewed coffee. The table I sat at was also dirty with bits of food over it and was so old that when I lifted up my plastic cup I saw a ring of the paint went missing with it.

I am constantly super amazed at the little neighborhood coffee shops that I find. It is a cute little coffee hangout that serves Sleepy Monk Roaster coffee. The benefit of this place is that it is next to a pretty good pet groomer so you can just drop your pet off to get groomed and come next door for coffee and hangout. As explained to me that their expresso mix is a mixture of light roast and dark roast so that is why my Americano tastes so well balanced. I would definitely come back here and hangout some more.
