I was faced with a situation of needing a custom-​made box spring to fit an antique bed, and have it delivered to me before my Mom’s arrival for a visit. I only had six weeks to get it done, and all the places I contacted in Chicago could not commit to a less than 8-​week turnaround time. I was fortunate enough to find Portland Mattress Makers on line, and even though they are located some 900 miles away, I decided to give them a try. Catherine answered my call, and assured me they could get this done in the time required. I placed the order, and from there, was able to check in with Catherine and Sam periodically, and find out that my order was on schedule. I received my custom box spring ahead of my deadline, and was able to ensure my Mom was comfortable during her visit. The box spring was exactly what I needed and fit perfectly. I am very thankful to Catherine and Sam for their patience with my calls, anxiety, etc., and highly recommend the Portland Mattress Makers!

I can’t recommend these guys highly enough. So helpful and patient when I was wandering around the showroom, asking questions, and lying down repeatedly on the models. Straightforward, right on time delivery done by pleasant people. I chose a boxspring (foundation) that ended up being too high for my liking and these lovely people exchanged it a few days later, free of charge and without the slightest grumble. And I ADORE my new mattress– one month in and it’s heaven!

4 months ago we purchased 3 mattresses — 2 latex and one coil — from Portland Mattress Makers in Portland, ME after extensive shopping and online research (especially the very informative mattress underground site). We were very pleased with their knowledge and factual answers to all our questions. There was no «mattress-​babble», phony sales, or sales pressure, just straightforward discussion of the pros and cons of the various mattress styles, construction details, and options they offered. You can find cheaper mattresses elsewhere but we felt we paid a fair price for quality mattresses, honestly represented, that met our needs and continue to provide a comfortable good night’s sleep. These manufacturers sell direct to their customers and there were no large mark-​ups based on false benefits.

I had been having back pain for a little less than a year and one day it dawned on me that we needed a new mattress. We started off our search at Portland Mattress Makers and are so glad we went with them. After going to the major mattress retailers we found that a lot of them came with these bogus warranties and safeguards to protect the company not the consumer. The quality of our mattress at this point seems to be great. We got it only a couple of weeks ago, but I honestly have not slept this good in a year. It is a fantastic mattress. Even my husband (who thought there was nothing wrong with the old mattress we had) is raving about it. Also, their movers are polite and courteous which was also nice to experience. Portland Mattress makers was the best company we found and we are so glad we could support local! Highly recommend.

Quality made in Maine mattress. Competent sales and customer service. You can TRUELY EXCHANGE IT within 30 days. Never thought I’d need to do this, but did and they were so nice about it and quick to do so. New one arrived in one week I love my hybrid latex and coil mattress! The quality of the mattresses is truly superior. They are made to order right in the Portland store. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and how well they compare to other brands. Their latex foam mattress options seem a bit better then the higher priced Tempur-​Pedic competitor. Portland Mattress Makers will have something for every budget. I ultimately went with them because they are a local company and have a very high quality product. Their service was second to none.
