Portland Team Fitness is the best! Prior to working out at PTF I attended another local bootcamp so I thought I was pretty in shape when I started working out there, but boy was I wrong. Since working out at PTF I fee so much stronger!
Trainers Alayne and Rhi offer great classes where I feel pushed and supported at the same time. Despite attending a regular schedule, I don’t get bored as they both vary their exercises. The fast pace format means I never look at the clock, and regular attendance is easy.
In addition to great trainers, the people who work out there are also amazing. I would highly recommend PTF!

I started taking the Wonder Woman classes about eight months ago. I wasn’t in very good shape, I was starting to feel old, AND I have never enjoyed exercising. But, under the encouragement of a friend, I started the Wonder Woman classes at Portland Team Fitness. I now look forward to these classes and it’s very rare that I will miss a session.
Both Triche and Alayne have been careful to read my body and capabilities. At the same time, they both have pushed me farther than I ever thought was possible. And still, every week, they continue to challenge me. I have hopes and dreams of completing a sprint triathlon and I know that continuing to work with them is the one way I can accomplish that goal.
The best part about this place (besides the best trainers in Portland)… You can be a beginner or an exercise aficionado, either way, you will be challenged.

I’ve been fortunate enough to train with Stefanie L. throughout my time at Portland Team Fitness, and she’s absolutely dynamite. She designs workouts that accommodate my current fitness level, and has always checked in to see where I’m at and what areas of my body can use some additional stretching and preparation. Her training in weights, TRX, yoga and dance makes for a wonderful and challenging balance, and I’ve made terrific progress as her client. I can’t recommend her highly enough…

Believe the hype, Portland Team Fitness is as awesome as advertised! Classes are challenging, but accommodating to whatever fitness level you are. Each class is always a challenge, but always fun.
I’ve been taking 2 – 3 classes per week for the past 6 months, and have noticed a marked increase in overall fitness levels. This is no cross-​fit type cult, the focus here is on overall health, and I definitely feel the difference.
Trainers — Triche & Alayne’s classes are AWESOME. Even in a class environment, they do a great job of providing individualized attention, making sure you have proper form, and pushing you to give that extra 5%. I’ve picked up countless little nuggets of fitness wisdom from Triche.
I had some problems with knee pain when I first started out, and Alayne stayed after class one time for 45 minutes to help me. She worked with me to diagnose my problem, showed me some stretches and exercises to alleviate the pain, and even gave me some reading to do on it. After following her/Triche’s advice, my knee pain is rarely an issue!
My only complaint is that they don’t offer more late classes. Due to my commute, I was only able to make it to the 6:30 classes (Mon/​Wed). It would be nice to more later options for those who cannot make it to the 5:30 class. However, I can understand if there isn’t enough demand to justify having the later classes.
I’m moving back to NY for work, but if I get a chance to move back out to Portland, I guarantee I will be returning to PTF!

***HIGHLY RECOMENDED*** This is a great gym for group workouts as well as personal training. The owner, Alayne, has been a fitness professional for over a decade and she has surrounded herself with competent and engaging trainers. I’ve taken classes from Jon, Christina, Kelly, Triche, and Alayne. They all host a fun environment, and you are guaranteed to get a great workout no matter which class you show up to. Go here. If you’re looking for a spot to kick your ass into gear after a lull in your fitness routine — THIS is your gym. Classes are as challenging as you make them, but I promise you will not get much of a chance to cheat, I left every class sweating and feeling like I just kicked some serious calories to the curb. Loved the attentiveness and involvement of every trainer, they mix up each workout so you’re never bored, very focused on proper form so you won’t hurt yourself and make sure you get the most of every workout, plus they’re fun and are very encouraging bonus! So it’s hard-​core, without the hard-​core attitude or vibe. I signed up for the one month unlimited and averaged 3 times a week and saw an increase in strength, stamina and definition in week 3. Affordability was the only reason I didn’t continue my membership, however, you are paying for nearly one-​on-​one training and the price breakdown is incredibly reasonable if within your budget. I’ll be back when the time comes to kick up my workout again. Definitely, worth checking out if you’re thinking of paying for a personal trainer but open to group classes, like a variety and not getting the push you want in your gym classes.

Absolutely wonderful place! We took the Mad Props class and the instructor, Alayne, was incredible. This place is like a community and they are incredibly inviting to any and all that want to participate. This class got our heart rate up and we had a fun doing it! 100% recommend.

It’s a cool place. The classes are fun. And there is more collaboration and teamwork in the workouts than pressure or competition. From what I can tell, there are a lot of different trainers with different personalities and different specialities, which is great for finding a good fit for both classes and a personal trainer, if needed. There are also some extra programs monthly, which are informative and educational.

I work out here a couple of times a week. I also drop in on classes and attend some of the workshops. The kettle ball/​Turkish getup taught by Rhi was terrific. She knows her stuff and does a great job of making sure students are doing things correctly so no one gets hurt. I would highly recommend checking out PTF!

The instructors here have greatly impressed me. After two times of going rather sporadically thanks to class passes limit of only 3 times a month, the instructors knew me by name. I love the Boom class. It is intense!!! Boot camp classes are rarely easy, you can’t cheat on them like you can with Pilates or Barre or Yoga. In addition this is very HIT based. It simply rocks. I always sweat, I am always exhausted, and I really like the community there. I wish I could go more but the class times sometimes are difficult for me working all the way in wilsonville.

I hate working out. Got that out of my system because of the trainers at PTF! Taking classes call «BOOM», «DIESEL» and MAD PROPS” are intimidating enough. However they help me make the modifications I need to get the most out of my workout and mostly save me from further injury due to my limitations. Nothing is off limits, they make it possible to take advantage of ANY class they have regardless of your ability. It made me work harder knowing I could do the thing my body would allow. I thought I would be crawling to my car, but I actually walked out of the place stronger and lighter.
This group is like no other. They pay attention to you. You cannot hide from them… trust me I tried. They work along side of you, correcting, encouraging and motivating you. It’s a family-​like atmosphere, which I like. My daughter and I attend classes together which is nice. I now look forward to gettin’ my sweat on!

PTF is the place to go for fun, challenging small group workouts. The trainers are awesome, the space is perfect, and the community is super supportive and fun. Regardless of your fitness level, they will push you and reward you and make you feel great!

Full disclosure: I have worked in the fitness industry for over a decade and have been fortunate enough to present for a company that considers education as a top priority. Which means very rarely am I impressed with the delivery or execution of exercise programming.
For nothing else, you would come to Portland Team Fitness for the passion. If you want trainers to ignore you, looking out the window, daydreaming about what they’d rather be doing, and counting your repetitions, DO NOT COME HERE. You will be held accountable for what you came in for — a killer work out. They can lead you to water, but they can’t make you drink. These people a ridiculously passionate about you achieving YOUR goals. They’ll give you the push to make it happen.
On top of the passion, Alayne and her merry band are educated. Not just «took a weekend certification course» educated. But continually challenging themselves to be better at what they do, to make YOU better.
Portland Team Fitness then is not just simply a place where you go to get a workout in. You go there because they actually care about you, your goals, the other aspects of your life, and your holistic health.
Go, just go. The only way you’ll be disappointed is if you don’t. This I can promise you.

John provided a great strength and conditioning experience for my team in the form of a bi-​weekly bootcamp. He is very knowledgeable and provides modifications for all exercises to accommodate the personal needs within a group. Every session is new and excruciating (in a good way!) and FUN. I would highly recommend Portland Team Fitness and John in particular to anyone looking to up their strength game!

Working with John is fantastic! I come in, get to work, leave in pain. Exactly why I go. I can tell he is paying attention the entire session to my development. He is very flexible working with my constantly changing schedule. Even though it is generally just me and John in the gym, PTF has this amazing vibe inside – feels fun just being there.

Portland Team Fitness is amazing to say the least! I have trained with John Lindala about five years. In addition to being a great trainer, he’s an amazing athlete! I like to call him the «hip master.» John is a highly educated and very skilled trainer, and he knows how to put your body through the ringer in the most injury free fashion. He has trained me for numerous athletic events, but the one that has been the most meaningful to me, was Ironman, AZ. We worked together for one solid year preparing me for that day, and not only did I finish feeling healthy and strong, but I had a huge smile on my face from start to finish! John is an outstanding trainer, and I will train with him until the day he no longer does it!
I’ve also taken classes from Alayne and Christina, and they are AWESOME! Again two more highly educated and skilled trainers. They will hand you your ass on a platter, and you will smile and say THANK YOU, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER! I admire and respect their personal levels of fitness, and I strive to follow in their footsteps.
In addition to being a great place for a workout, PTF has a fun and family oriented atmosphere!

When it comes to waking up early, I’m only motivated by a few things: (1) the sound of my dog vomiting on the carpet; (2) a fire alarm; and (3) a workout at Portland Team Fitness.
Okay, if I’m being honest with myself, the first two things on that list probably won’t get me out of bed. (Screw the carpet. And it’s probably just a dying battery.)
On the other hand, I love Portland Team Fitness so much that not only will I wake up for the 6am class, but I will even FLY to Portland (where I don’t live) from Denver (where I do live) to experience a PTF workout. True story.
When it comes to getting the most bang for your workout buck, Portland Team Fitness has no equal. I’ve been a gym rat since college. I’ve trained for everything from 5Ks to marathons to triathlons. I’ve done the spin class thing. I’ve sampled CrossFit. I’ve even used a ShakeWeight. Nothing compares to the level of intensity, camaraderie, and encouragement provided by the excellent PTF team.
Trainers Alayne, Kelly, Christina, and John have all kicked my butt in the group exercise classes. Not only that, but I’ve also had the pleasure of having my butt kicked by these trainers on PTF-​organized hikes (Dog Mtn and South Sister), training runs (Shamrock), Fit Trips (Mexico), and extreme yoga paddleboard and mountain bike (Bend). Each of these experiences was consistently awesome.
Each PTF trainer brings his or her own unique style to the group workout. Trainer Alayne designs creative workouts and demonstrates exercises with infectious enthusiasm. Trainer John likes to focus on stretching and strengthen hips as a solid foundation for overall fitness. For Trainer Christina, class is often like a trip to the circus — except you’re the one doing the acrobatics. And Trainer Kelly’s energy and skill make me almost forget that I’m sweating so much I can barely see.
This place is fantastic. It might even turn you into a morning person.

Portland Team Fitness is my favorite place in Portland to workout! Alayne, Kelly, Christina and the other trainers are knowledgeable and care about you getting the workout that you are looking for. Owner, Alayne is super passionate and it shows in everything she does.
Workouts are designed for all levels and can be as challenging as you want to make them. I’ve never left the gym feeling like I didn’t get what I came for. The class sizes are perfect for someone looking for a personalized feel.

Alyane and the team of trainers she has thoughtfully recruited are dedicated to giving me effective and fun workouts.
The workouts are designed as a mix of cardio and strength work circuit training style; I work my butt off for a few minutes to earn a few seconds of rest. I feel energized and grounded at the end of a workout — not drained and dehydrated.
All exercises are carefully explained and demonstrated and modifications are always offered… and there is never any judgement if I have to complete my minute of push-​ups on my knees!!! Alyane has always impressed me with her attention to form. It’s a group class (5 – 13 peeps per class) but I often feel I have my own personal trainer.
And the gym has an amazing sense of community. Everyone is friendly and supportive and wants me to reach my fitness AND career goals.
I’m a gym rat who has spent a lot of time trolling for the perfect small gym therefore I can confidently say Portland Team Fitness is a true gem in a city overpopulated with fitness studios. The trainers are quality, the workouts produce results and the clientele is classy.
I highly recommend PTF to all of my friends and patients if they want to get stronger and trim waistlines injury-​free.

LOVE the workouts at PTF! Alayne is an extraordinary and inspiring trainer. What’s more, her staff always meets her high standards. They each have different styles but every one of them is professional and consistently provides fun and challenging workouts.
I appreciate that classes are well-​organized, start on time, and are different each time so you never get bored. Alayne listens to feedback and suggestions and seems to really know (and understand) her clients. She’ll push you past your self-​imposed limits («shall I bring you the 15#ers?») and she’ll help you if you need to adjust something. Always supportive — never judgmental — that’s the spirit at PTF. You feel respected just for showing up and that respect translates into a kick-​ass workout. Even the payment plan is designed to keep you committed. PFT rocks!

I’ve been going to PTF for over a year, attending both group classes and invidual training.
I regularly attend on Thursdays with Christina Ricetti and have seen a tremendous improvement in my overall stamina and balance. Prior to joining PTF, I would work out on my own (and still do) and was very anxious about the strenuous nature of the classes at PTF. Christina (and in my small sampling, all of the other trainers) are excellent, though, at fine-​tuning the workouts to fit your level — whether by providing options at various stations or even customizing it for your injuries, etc. Christina is also very high energy without being pushy or in-​your-​face — the perfect balance to keep me moving when I’m slowing down!
Additionally, I have had the pleasure of working with John Lindala since last winter. I strained my left meniscus playing Ultimate Frisbee, and John has experience with that particular injury. I met with him twice a week for rehabilitation and re-​strengthening. Around 10 weeks later, I was nearly back to 100% and now I can honestly say that my leg strength is better than it ever was before! I still see John once a week, and he provides an amazing range of functional exercises that push my limits. I can’t recommend John enough to my friends.
Functional training — that really sums up PTF to me. The goal isn’t to get stronger (although you will) or to get bigger (although you might) or to lose weight (although you might). The goal (at least it seems to me) is to make it so that you can achieve the goals you want in whatever you do. So if you’re an Ultimate Frisbee player like me, the trainers find ways to add elements that will improve your game. If you play Basketball, they will find ways to improve your game. Not everyone that goes to PTF necessarily has a primary sport, but whether you do or not, I think the trainers can find a way to make you a better, more efficient and more functional athlete.

Alayne knows her stuff. And she is NOT one of those trainers who likes to /​has to remind you of that every other second.
The atmosphere/​attitude at PTF is happy, fun, dedicated, and hardcore only in the dedication to be happy and fun. But don’t you think for one sweaty second that t his means it’s all a bunch of powder puff gals, jogging around a room to oldies — noooooooooooooo. You will sweat and you’ll be sore, and you may even think you’re going to die at one point or another, but in a good way. Your thighs/​belly/​flappy arm places will thank you.
