Pubs of Portland Tours

Marc is great! We met some friends in Portland for the weekend and our friends signed us up for the tour. Neither of us are big beer drinkers, but we thought it might be fun and it was. Marc is very knowledgeable and very likable and we learned a lot about beer and our own taste in beer. We really liked the combination of walking and light rail, the different types of hidden pubs that we visited, and enjoyed the anecdotes about the various parts of town. And we’re converted — we’ve started trying out more of the dark beers that we liked and are enjoying it. We would recommend Marc’s tour to everyone. Marc — you’ve created two new beer drinkers. Thank you!

This is the best Portland brew tour for your money and convenience!
I booked this tour for my best friend’s bachelor party and the best thing was I didn’t have to round up everyone’s money or pay for the tour up front. Reservations are all based on the honor system. If you say you’re gunna be there and commit to the tour, then it’s good to go.
I felt really bad when our out of town guests were an hour late and we had Marc, the tour guide, waiting patiently for us the whole time. Sorry, Marc!
The tour is mostly on foot, but we used the street car to get to the different areas of town. This was a great way to see Portland from the ground up and do a little people watching as well. At every stop Marc would get us a table right away and guide us on what beers to sample and how to get the best bang for our buck. He also informed us on the history of the buildings, the beer industry in Portland, the local brew craft, and much more. He even brought some raw hops along so we could smell the flower and see the resemblance between the hops we smelled and the beer we tasted. We had one of those «know-​it-​all» people in our group that kept trying to stump Marc and ask him ridiculous questions and Marc didn’t skip a beat, he knew everything there was to know about beer. Well done, Marc!
I think everyone in our group really enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about not only beer, but Portland in it’s entirety. I live in Portland, and we went to places I hadn’t been to or explored yet which was a really nice adventure. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to have a nice, fun-​filled day around this beautiful city.

This was an amazing tour & a bang for your buck! Marc has so much knowledge about beer & the Portland area. We went to over 5 pubs taking the light rail & walking so you get to know the history behind Portland & it’s surrounding areas as well. We could tell that this was his passion & loved teaching people about beer. The tour is over 5 hours long & you sample over 29 different beers! Wicked fun.

You can not possibly do any better for a beer tour in one the the best beer cities in the world.
Marc knows beer and Portland inside and out. There is no better way to experience this town than down at street level walking and taking lite rail.
Every place we went Marc was well known and loved. When we arrived at croweded Deschutes I thought we were going to be waiting thirty or more minutes as is normal at Dechutes but had us seated and with beers right away!
I’ve been to Portland a number of times and Marc had us at all the best places that visitors never hear about. If you go on the tour have be sure to have Marc take you by the hidden Whiskey bar. Fantastic!
I could go on and on. Each and everyone of us had the time of our life. I honestly feel like anything I can say is selling Marc short. If you have any interest in Portland and beer this is the must do tour.
In already looking forward to planning an other tour with Marc. This time east of downtown.

A friend and I took a weekend getaway trip to Portland this past weekend, and both of us agree that the Pubs of Portland Tour with Marc was the highlight of the trip!
We were so excited to visit smaller, local brew pubs both in downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods — it was an amazing way to see Portland and try beers that we might never have had the opportunity to taste without a guide.
Marc is knowledgeable, personable and a lot of fun! The «mini-​seminars» on brewing ingredients were interesting and interactive, and his knowledge of Portland history added so much to the tour. We would definitely recommend ANYONE — from beer novice to veteran home brewer — call Marc if you want to make the most of «Beervana!»

As good as it gets. Marc was an informed and congenial host. We visited some of the more popular and more unusual brew pubs in Portland. We did using public transportation (street cars) and walking.

The gf and I were on vacation in Portland from DC and this was an amazing tour. Only 3 other people were booked for the tour with Marc (our guide) and for some reason, they backed out at the last minute… So we ended up getting our own private tour with him! He was great! We visited 5 places in Portland and the weather was amazing (I’m sure Marc had something to do with this, but I don’t know how… Must be some ancient brewers magic…).
I’m a homebrewer and have been doing it for years and I still learned a lot about beer and brewing (he gave me some tips for my own setup). My girlfriend (not an avid brewer) learned a lot too. Marc helped her narrow down her tastes and she got a little incite into why I get so excited about my hobby.
He also knows a lot of local history and can make good recommendations for where to go post-​tour.
Just something to note: The cost of the tour does not include beer or food, but the places you go are affordable.

Both my wife and I had an amazing time on this tour. Our tour guide was Marc, he is a very knowledgeable brewery consultant and experienced home brewer. At each stop along the tour he provided a mini-​informational session on various ingredients in brewing (hops, grains, etc…).
This tour uses the public transport around Portland, so it is also a great way to get familiar with the city. Marc also provides interesting Portland history tidbits along the way.
If you are an avid home brewer or just a fan of beer, you will enjoy this tour.
