Fantastic doctors, great selection of frames. I am thrilled to finally find an eye doctor that I like!
Can’t say enough about this place. Highly recommend.

Two great doctors and a great staff. Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with both and I appreciate their skill, knowledge and expertise.
They even operate on Saturday which is a huge plus for me.

I have never had an eye doctor I liked. They are always get in, get out, on to the next. I have never had that experience with River City Eyecare.
They are always extremely helpful to fit an appointment into my schedule, very courteous throughout the whole process, and very accommodating when it comes to issues with insurance and everything else. Dr. Breeden even goes very very far out of her way to explain exactly what everything is and how it works and why which I always have appreciated a lot.
The staff knew exactly what to do and how to handle it so all I had to do was sit back and get my contacts and glasses I wanted and they took care of the rest. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and generally awesome to work with. Truly a pleasure, which is a nice change.

The people at River City were incredibly knowledgeable about lenses and frames for my particular needs. I found them really patient and helpful as I navigated through my decision to get progressive lenses. I wish I had gone to them first instead of the store where I bought my other glasses. Lesson learned!

I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Breeden to anyone and everyone. I have been struggling with a chronic eye inflammation problem for months and Dr. Breeden has provided incredible and kind care throughout the whole ordeal. She even gave me her cell phone number when I was having an adverse reaction to a medication for my eye! While I am still struggling with my eye problem Dr. Breeden has done everything and beyond what she could do to help.
Spencer the receptionist is also really nice and competent! When I go into the office I feel very comfortable and like I am with friends. You can tell that they really want you to feel good and be well.
Their prices are also very competitive with online retailers and when purchasing through them you can be assured that the prescription is correct. — I had purchased an online pair of glasses and they checked them out for me and said they weren’t exactly my prescription.
I have not seen Dr. Provost before however my friends who recommended me to River City often see him (at the clackamas location) and they love him!

Dr. Provost & Dr. Breeden are great! They are very genuine, professional, thorough, trustworthy and easy to communicate with. They are both very knowledgable and don’t mind answering all my questions (about Lasik & ICL). I would definitely recommend them! :)

Had an eye exam this past weekend with Dr. Provost. I felt very well taken care of and all my questions were answered thoroughly during the exam and I felt that there was genuine care given from the doctor and the administrative staff. There were smiles on everybody’s faces and they were very honest and helpful to picking the right frame for my lenses without pushing me toward more expensive options. What a wonderful local business to support in an excellent historical location.

1– Did not inform me of out of pocket costs before appointment.
2– Poor contact fitting/​tutorial.
They were able to get me in last minute for an appointment which while very nice on their part (apparently their 4:30pm appointment was a no show) may have been part of the problem. I made a point to ask on the phone if they took EyeMed insurance and to make sure I was in network.
I thought the Optometrist was adequate but definitely not that friendly; she provided me with my eye exam.
I was getting fitted for contacts so the receptionist gave me a quick tutorial– I wasn’t successful in getting them in and I actually think it was in part due to their poor tutorial. They had me sit and look into a very small mirror that I had to bend over to see. I ended up going somewhere else where they had me stand in front of a well lit mirror (kind of like your bathroom mirror). And also demonstrated on their own eyes. Both techniques worked much better.
AFTER the tutorial she informed me that this was not covered by my insurance and that it was $ 50 and that they had to take payment that day. I really like to be informed of these charges before my appointment. I try to make sure I’m informed on out of pocket expenses and thought my co-​pay would be zero. I think this is a normal charge but I was really frustrated that this was not told in advance. I left with no contacts and a $ 50 charge.
She tried to blame it on the quick last minute appointment. Seriously? If I say I need contacts and this fee is usually not covered by insurance (everyone I’ve spoke to say that it’s an out of pocket expense) and she’d already checked my insurance wouldn’t she know this? I thought that was a really poor excuse for not providing payment info before my appointment.
I ended up going to another Eye Care clinic (which I’ve also reviewed and LOVED) because they were closed the Monday before Christmas and I needed a follow up appointment sooner then they could schedule one.
I’m glad I went somewhere else for the rest of my experience; I had much friendlier service and overall amazing experience. Oh and all the fees were explained to me before my appointment.

Patient with me about figuring out insurance, helpful when trying to decide on frames, not pushy when it comes to buying things (I have really bad vision so it easily adds up without the help of anyone being pushy!), professional eye exam, all around friendly. I shopped around for glasses and doctors and I haven’t found anyplace nicer. The people who work here are super friendly!

I had a great experience here at the Hollywood location! The girls at the front counter were more than happy to help me find out what my vision insurance would cover. Then I made an appointment to see Dr. Carrie. She was ready for me when I got there, and was very skilled at the testing procedures. She also chatted and joked with me while she examined my eyes, which made me feel much more comfortable with the whole thing.
Her machines are state of the art. I didn’t even have to go through the ‘puff’ test for glaucoma! Dr. Carrie uses a different method, examining the structure of the inner eye itself for signs of disease. Once the exam was over, I got to pick from a small but excellent selection of frames. I ended up going with a super cute Betsy Johnson design that I’m /​still/​in love with. The glasses were ready to be picked up in a little less than two weeks, and I get compliments on them all the time.
Definitely worth checking out — they’ve earned my repeat business from now on, which no other eyecare business has ever managed before.

Dr. Bret Provost and his staff are courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Their appointment times are convenient and the location usually has street parking available nearby.

I’ve never much cared for going to the optometrist. They often seem impersonal and treat you as if you are on a conveyer belt of patients. This is NOT the case with River City Eyecare! They are very kind, helpful and care about you as not only a patient, but as a person as well. Carrie was a pleasure to work with, and helped me to understand some worries I had about my eyes and answered all of my questions with in-​depth answers.
Their location is very charming and they have a wide and eclectic selection of frames as well!
