I hesitate to give such a low rating to any place, but my experience with Rose Jewelry was extremely disappointing and frustrating. We came here on the recommendation from a friend, who had purchased a beautiful antique engagement ring for his fiancée there, but as far as I can tell, our experience was the polar opposite of theirs. My partner and I wanted to re-size his grandmother’s ring from the 30’s to fit me, and perhaps add a few small diamonds to the band, which we didn’t think was a very tall order. Immediately, the owner began to pressure us to buy a larger diamond, insisting(to my partner — he spoke to me THROUGH him) that I really wanted a bigger diamond. He also said that he would have to replace the entire band to increase the ring by just one size and that he could not add diamonds that were flush with the band(I later learned this is called«bezel set»), they would have to be placed in a pronged setting, which I didn’t want. I tried on a few of the rings he had in stock, and while they were lovely and seemed moderately priced, they were not what I wanted. When I told the owner this, he became almost irate, insisting, «but this is what she described! This is what she said she wanted!» Again, he spoke only to my(male) partner. I’m not experienced in engagement ring shopping, but it seems to me that it should be at least a somewhat enjoyable experience. Rose Jewelry did nothing to make the experience an enjoyable one and only seemed interested in increasing the cost of the ring. We had a much better time at Medallion Jewelry down the street.
