Small setting, dimly lit, and they serve up some good drinks. I think I love this place even more because there isn’t a huge hype around it and virtually no lines here. There seems to be a misunderstanding around Portland that a large line correlates to it being good, but this place is dang good without the hassle. The music here makes me want to dance. The space is small with a couple tables. I’m sure I could be able to get away with busting a move(who do I think I am?), but I’d probably be the only one dancing. It’s not a judge-y crowd which I like. I didn’t feel pressure to have dressed up nor an ugly duckling being in my jeggings and cardigan. Try the rum cake! It was SUPER boozy, almost too boozy for me. It had me giggling at the end of the night. Took three people to finish that rum soaked slice of cake. I would definitely get it again to share.

This has rapidly become one of my favourite pubs. I really like the feel of the area. The warm embrace of a dive bar where a person can go and reflect in their own ideas and not be there to be seen. That about stops it for the dive bar though because the quality of beverage with all the focus to details here is astounding. Go there if you would like to get an excellent drink and revel in a warm soothing surroundings.

Super cool place for rum cocktails in Portland! I will definitely go back next time I’m there. Rumble in the Jungle was AMAZING! Staff was super friendly!

If you need some amazing drinks and some old school gangster rap on a week night, this is your place. Joel makes some killer drinks, and the spicy chex mix is stellar for the late night munchies. Definitely some of the best cocktails in Portland!

The best way to describe this bar is, genuine. The cocktails are good, but minus all the pretentiousness that can often come with them, i suppose that is fitting for a rum bar. The staff was knowledgeable and kind and the selection was decent. The bar is not super polished by any means, but some how for them it works.

Fantastic drinks. I found the uniqueness of their cocktail selection to be refreshing and their food, that which I tried, was enjoyable, quite enjoyable. However, the common place peons that frequent the bar midst the week days twixt the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 am are incredibly irksome. Also the service was amiable, although overworked.

WOW! What a fun place! I came here with my friend for the first time, kind of on accident. We were just walking by and decided to stop in for a cocktail. The bartender was so much fun! The drinks were crave worthy. Soooo yum! It has a really nice patio too!

Top bar. Top cocktails. I prefer weekday happy hours to the super busy crazy hard to order a drink weekend nights, but hey, it is busy because it is a top spot for cocktails. I tend to drink the punch because it is a bargain at $ 5, but have had several other cocktails and have never been let down by this place. After many years drinking cocktails in Chicago and having visited most cocktail bars around the world, I like it when I am in Portland and can come here. Great staff, great drinks, great vibe.

Fantastic drinks! However the food is not very good. I had the Pimento Cheese and the potatoes. The cheese was bland and boring. Bread was too crunchy. Came with radishes. Wtf. Then the potatoes were actually very good and the sauce it came with was good. However it was still a simple dish so whatever. But The drinks! I had the«Under the Volcano» and fell in love. It has egg whites in it and was delightful. Then I had Clown’s something– really strong really good, big ice cube. It’s expensive. Good drinks. Bad food.

I had fun. And a damn good manhattan. I’ve just found the above unfinished review, which I have absolutely no memory of starting. I guess I had a few damn good Manhattans.

Fun place! Lively music, friendly and attentive bartenders. We went on a Saturday evening after being recommended to go here after we asked employees at the restaurant where we were at if there was anywhere we could go for a ‘hip hop’ feel. We walk in and easily find seats at the bar. The had the special Rum Punch that was tasty. I usually drink Malibu and Coke, so I asked for one. They didn’t carry Malibu! The bartender was very helpful in suggesting another rum that was most like Malibu. People watching was fun here-patrons across the bar from us were having the time of their lives belting out(very loudly) all the Rihanna, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift songs. Some fun mainstream rap songs mixed with the pop/top 40 to make it lively.

Awesome, spirited cocktail bar that also has excellent snacks(can’t do too many of these cocktails without food). Don’t miss the pickled eggs(is there a Yooper in the house??)!

Scandalous Hemingway daiquiri(when in Rome…) and a rich, tangy deviled egg to boot! Our too brief visit yielded what it needed to: situating three exhausted guys at a comfortably loud, dark dive for a strong drink, political commentary and brined eggs. The former, a classic light rum, maraschino, grapefruit and lime that didn’t yield a side-eye. Quite the refresher if you’ve never indulged. The latter, chile mango eggs? WHAT?! True, and remarkably, everything worked. Completely surprised at how quickly they disappeared. In retrospect, I should have dabbled more in the dark(rhum) arts, as the selection is vast and gives genuine ground to the moniker. The heart wants what it wants, though, and my diversion to the tropics was craftily poured. Cheers, Rum Club!

Portland’s best bartenders are here. You see them hustlin’, smilin’ and being pure awesome. They make every cocktail sparkle the way it should and make every bar patron happy to be done with work and ready to enliven themselves with some hard A. That being said, let it be known I’m a devout punch orderer. Rum Club’s punch never lets you down and always keeps you coming back for more. Plus, it’s always new and exciting. Also, they serve chex mix. It’s everything you want to munch on with a classy mug of punch. Hurrah for Rum Club, just wish their non punch drinks were a little less expensive. Then the world would be PERFECT.

All I have to say about this place is what an incredible wall of liquor. Well that and some very talented bartenders. The prices are a bit steep but you get one truly, well crafted beverage. Being that this is Rum Club, I went with the obvious, a rum drink. The choice for my drink was Appletons XV. By nature I’m a bourbon drinker but I do enjoy some Jamaican rum every now and then. I had a Planter’s punch and the bartender went to work(even had to break out a book to make the drink). I never realized how many ingredients went into it. All I know was that it was Damn good, and everyone who took a sip agreed. These folks here have some skills! They do have drink specials that were in the $ 5 range and I hope to get back here soon. Our group had a great time here. Enjoy.

Heck-to-the-yes on the Chilcano ginger cocktail and chicken and quinoa stuffed red pepper dish! The torta’s were very good too, which I sampled from my friend, but I’m a sucker for spicy so the peppers were my favorite. During happy hour, drinks are $ 2 off and food, $ 1 off — which makes the peppers $ 7. That’s not bad, considering it filled me up. However; if you are hungry, the Citrus Pork Torta is a large sandwich. The restaurant is on the smaller size, so if you have a large group, maybe call ahead. Because it’s on the SE side of the river, parking is free. I fell in love with the wallpaper, but you can’t be afraid of birds, like my BFF is. We came here on a rainy day, but they have outdoor seating. The view isn’t much, but when you actually get a sunny day around here, who cares?

Nice spot for an after-meal drink and some quality hipster chilling. The décor is 70’s inspired Hawaiian bachelor crash pad, inherited by a hipster grandson and upgraded with a giant bear statue and mustachios galore.(on the patrons, mind you) The menu is — shockingly — centered around rum, and they have quite the selection of tasty bevs and concoctions. I had the classic — a standard Mai Tai — and it was booze ahoy, but tasty and adorned like the Queen on holiday.
