It was perfect! Again! I dine there often, and tonight was superb. The Makers Mark Mint Julep is the best in town, the wedge salad was great, the potatoes and spinach was hot and prepared just right, and the steak was exactly as requested. Terrific service as well. It couldn’t have been any better!

Amazing steak! Amazing service! This was the first time we have ever been to Ruth Chris. We came to celebrate our anniversary and were thrilled with the service we received. From the second we walked in and the table was set beautifully with rose petals to meeting our server Adam who was amazing the entire evening. The steak was phenomenal! The best steak I’ve ever had! Hands down! Definitely on the spendy side but our server helped us order which helped and also gave us a complimentary desert. We will definitely be back.

After walking past this restaurant for many years, I decided to blow my budget for a night and give it a try. The verdict, pretty tasty. The Good 1. Steak(petite filet) was very juicy and tender. 2. Creamed Spinach was very creamy and delicious 3. Lobster Mac and Cheese was huge and tasty but didn’t really have much lobster in it. 4. Waitstaff was very helpful and attentive. Our server in particular was a ball of energy 5. The food was nicely seasoned, nothing was overly salty or too bland. Not as great 1. Very dark in there. I had to use my cell flashlight to read the menu 2. Prices are rather high but at least the quality of food is good. They can afford to bump down the prices on the sides at least or offer at least one side with an entrée. 3. Parking stinks downtown Minus a few tiny issues, our experience was lovely and I would definitely eat there again if I was feeling like splurging on myself or celebrating something special.

From the atmosphere to the drinks and food. They get an A+. We rarely make it into downtown Portland for dinner, but when we do we always pick Ruth Chris. And if you can make it before 7pm they have an amazing Happy Hour.

Fraudulent charges on my card from several days after eating here, charged by the restaurant. No honest help by management, had to call fraud department at my bank. The atmosphere was acceptable, and service was worth the hefty tip I always leave. They had the good vintage Dom bottles I like when having a steak, and the wine list is proper. I always order the biggest filet. The marbling on their steak is way too fatty, and not tender at all. Im used to steakhouses undercooking, but this cook needs training. The steak must have been cooked on the plate on its way to the table. Im a glassblower of 23 years, and am no stranger to fingerburns… but this plate was red hot, and near lawsuit dangerous. The steak was burned to a carbon char outside, wrecking the flavor… and bleeding still. I ordered med-well. The baked potato was undercooked, still partially crispy… and not very warm. All said, many stars better than Ringside… but not comparable to average supermarket steak cooked at home.

Located in downtown area. Decorated as a steakhouse — cozy booths, tables in the center, white tablecloths, and bar. This time of the year they decorated with a Christmas tree. Typical Ruth and Chris steakhouse, with their standard menu, featuring gorgeous premium meat cuts, and of course good service. We took one«Ruth’s classic» — a menu set, which offered a salad, entre, side and dessert for 55.95 $. Caesars salad to start, as a main we chose Filet Mignon among other suggestions, creamed spinach as a side and cheesecake was included as dessert. We upgraded that small cheesecake for 4 $ extra to a Bread Pudding with a sauce of Grand Marnier and Vanilla. It was very rich and very big, enough for two to share. As for side dish which is included — it’s a little bit smaller portion than of a regular order. Filet was soft and tender, cooked just right. We requested a blue cheese crust on it, our waiter forgot about that, but as we reminded, it appeared on the table shortly. And also we took a Ribeye steak 16 oz, medium rare, very juicy and flavorful. I even like that one more than a filet itself. As for other highlights of the menu — there are veal osso buco ravioli for appetizer. And I would definitely try next time Porterhouse for two, must be good this one. As for wine list — it is fairly typical for an upscale steak house like this, a large selection of wines from ordinary to the cult ones, such as Opus One and Insignia. A separate section for the Northwest selection, dedicated to the wines of Oregon and Washington. Prices are quite high, but you can bring your own bottle for a very reasonable corkage fee of $ 15. Delicious meat experience on a cold December’s night. Valet parking 9 $.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Ruth’s Chris last night and it was beyond amazing! It’s in downtown Portland so we paid the $ 9 to get Valet parking. It was more than worth it. My car was left right up front and we didn’t have to walk in the cold. I made a reservation even though it was a Monday night because I didn’t know if it was necessary. It seemed as if it was, it was quite busy. We were sat right away and our server Jim was extremely nice. He showed us the whole menu and described a couple of favorite dishes on there since we hadn’t been to this steakhouse before. He let us know of some specials they were doing and then gave us time to decide. We both got drinks, I got the ruby red greyhound and my boyfriend got the royal gin and tonic. Both were absolutely delicious, but my boyfriend’s gin and tonic was one of the best I’ve had! They add rosemary to it! It was amazing. We started with their BBQ shrimp as an appetizer. I really don’t know why they call it BBQ because it’s extremely misleading. I would have never thought to order it because I thought it would come with BBQ sauce… our server actually suggested it to us, telling us it was nothing like actual BBQ. It came in a red wine and butter sauce. It was amazing… the sauce was so good we dipped our bread in it afterwards. For dinner we both got filet’s… I got my oscar style with a crab cake and asparagus, my boyfriend got his butterflied with shrimp on top. The steak was amazing! The butter that comes on top melts with all the juices and creates the best sauce. The steak was cooked great and extremely tender. Literally melt in your mouth! For our side we got lobster mac and cheese and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. It was actually creamy instead of being baked crispy like most steakhouses. We were so full we ended up passing on dessert(but of course we got another drink!) We’ve been to a couple steakhouses in Portland and even though Ruth Chris’ is a chain… I definitely recommend this place! It was outstanding and I can’t wait to go back!

My first time ever coming to Ruth’s Chris and it was definitely a delightful and delicious experience! Right when you walk in, there’s a beautiful staircase in the middle! Great lighting and ambiance. I sat at the bar. Owen was the bartender and server! He’s very good at his job! Very knowledgeable and passionate! I decided to order the 40 oz. porterhouse steak! Never had it in my life! Two of the best cuts in one! I love my steak simply seasoned with salt & pepper and this was probably the best steak I’ve ever had in my life! Very flavorful and tasted like butter. Service was impeccable! Food was super quality and came out fast! I will definitely come back again!

I don’t know if we went on an off night for the chef, but we were very disappointed in the food. Especially for the price. Although the steak was amazing, everything else was subpar. My daughter ordered off the kids menu and her sliders were overcooked hamburger patties on dry buns. Her french fries weren’t cooked all the way, so they were soggy and cold. We also ordered the Lobster Mac N Cheese because the waiter said that they were well known for it. The only cheese on the mac n cheese was on top and the rest of it was extremely runny. The desserts that came with the classic options were dry. It was very, very disappointing. I doubt we will risk coming again considering how much we spent on the meal.

I had not been to a Ruth Chris steakhouse since I was in Hawaii about six years ago. I have to tell you, I’m very glad that I went back! I will tell you one of the things that annoys me more than anything about restaurants in Portland is when a restaurant does not have valet parking because who wants to get dressed up and go out to dinner only to have to park two blocks away and then walk in the rain to your destination? The answer, no one! So, we’ve eaten here twice within the last week! LOL Both times the servers were wonderful and thoroughly explained the menu and the procedure of how the dinner would run. Warning! They serve their steaks on 500° plates! They will tell you to not touch them several times and please do listen because it will burn your fingerprints right off of your fingers! If you’re eating with a younger diner, like when we have our 13-year-old son with us, we always have his steak put on a cool plate just to avoid any possible accidents. My absolute favorite steak here is the bone in filet! Absolute perfection every single time! I also had the chocolate do I go for dessert which was a flourless chocolate cake with a warm center and chocolate mousse and it was delicious as well!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I normally would not spend $ 75 for a meal, but for a special occasion/rare fancy night out, it was worth it. We each got the 3-course option, in which you choose an appetizer and entrée, and then you get dessert afterwards. I ordered the filet mignon, and after the very first bite, I swore I’d never brush my teeth again, in the hopes that I could retain the flavor for as long as possible. Each bite melted in my mouth, and I just closed my eyes, leaned back, and savored every bite for as long as possible. I developed some pretty intense feelings for that filet… The appetizers and dessert were delicious, my adult beverage was generous and tasty, and the service was excellent. I cannot wait to come back to this place.

Delicious food. Always an amazing experience. We came for my boyfriend’s birthday. We get steak every time we come and barely rarely order anything different from our«usuals»(the cowboy ribeye) because we can expect consistent service and food without exception. This time, they had new specials. One of which was a tomahawk ribeye. 40oz of delicious mouth watering perfection. The marbling was exquisite, the softness was exact and the clarified butter with the meat flavor will make your eyes roll and your toes curl. Outstanding. We also tried the calamari appetizer as we try everywhere. Crispy and delicious. The sauce was sweet, sour, tangy, and an exact match for the calamari. For sides, we ordered garlic mashed potatoes, bacon Brussels sprouts, and broccoli au gratin. The potatoes were creamy and smooth. The Brussel sprouts were cooked well but too sweet(with honey I think) and the bacon was overpowering. I did not taste the broccoli but I did notice it was drowning in cheese. Oh well. All in all, one of the best places to eat in Portland and easily the best steak anywhere.

The service is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful, they treat you with respect. A very classy but comfortable atmosphere. The steak, obviously, was delicious. I’m not even the biggest fan of steak but I was very impressed and happy with the ribeye done medium well. I also had mashed potatoes and asparagus that were made to perfection. Definitely recommend!

They have a great happy hour with plates and several cocktails at just $ 8 a pop. My absolute favorites was the Ahi Tuna, steak salad, and spicy lobster bites! To drink I had their Gin and Tonic. It’s not your average gin and tonic. It’s infused with rosemary and I believe they were pink peppercorns. Ruth’s Chris is consistent with the quality and taste of their food. Definitely have to go for happy hour, you won’t be disappointed!

I have never been to this place before but this place was on my todo list for a long time. I might not even be the right person to review such a place cos I don’t eat steak. So why did I ever want to visit this place. I wanted to check out the décor, the cocktails and the salmon. When my manager appreciated my good work and wanted to pick a place for dinner(he paid) I choose this place considering I knew the salmon was a part of the portland dining month menu. I made the reservations and Ashley who took the call was nice to give me a window seat table so that I can impress my manager for a good raise. The service was good and professional. I had the salad, salmon entrée and the cheesecake for dessert. The food was amazing and the salmon felt like butter with no fishy aftertaste. The creamed spinach was out of this world. I also enjoyed the dessert so much. My manager did comment that the steak he had was really good too. Overall one of those posh places you visit for special occasions or just for dinner if you are part of the 1%. The food and service is worth it. A tip– Instead of trying hard to park somewhere just use the valet option. At $ 9 it is a really good deal.

I’ve had their cowboy ribeye twice, and both times it was cooked to a perfect medium. The steak has a great flavor, good marbling and excellent texture. The ahi tuna is good too. Well, as good as ahi can get – super fresh. Sweet potatoe casserole is excellent too; it’s sweet but has a nice caramelized crunch to it. Lastly, if you really have $ to spend and you want a great steak, Id tell you to go to Ringside first. It’s is better.

I have always meant to eat here as I have heard nothing but positive reviews from friends and colleagues. Now… I get it… We decided that since they moved locations right across the street from where we were seeing a show and it was Portland Dining Month that we would finally give them a decent shake. First off… we were late! I hate that an I loathe traffic but it is what it is and we were rolling 30 minutes after our reservation which they did not bat an eyelash at and seated us promptly and in turn. Even on a Monday night they were pretty packed. The interior is gorgeous — they really spared no expense. But the décor is comforting and full of beauty… not snobbish. We were seated and immediately looked after but a gentleman who cleared every plate from then on out and filled our waters constantly. Our server came over and was very charming. What am I saying — he was perfection and made sure to keep us on schedule for our showtime. Their bread and salad were both wonderful. I had herbed stuffed chicken which was phenomenal. My husband had their fillet minon which, honestly, was one of the best tasting steaks I have ever had at a restaurant. Our only disappointment was the sides. They do ala cart and he ordered mashed potatoes while I got the creamed spinach. Both were underwhelming especially compared to these amazing proteins. Desert was white chocolate raspberry cheesecake which was incredible. An amazing meal I simply cannot believe was only $ 29 per person. We will be back for certain and after peeking at the rest of the menu we definitely plan to try a lot of it. We go to the symphony often and it is in such a perfect spot. Pro tip — Do valet parking… well worth the $ 9, have dinner and leave your car there while you enjoy a show at the Newmark or Schnitzer… perfect stress free evening although we have enjoyed(and gotten lucky) with Princess parking across the street from them before.

Ruth Chris may be considered a chain of high end steak houses. and there’s nothing wrong with that. the décor in the restaurants so immaculate. first let’s say this if you like your steak medium well to well done don’t come here you’re just wasting your money. no matter what’s take your order it is prepared properly. choose your side dishes choose carefully because you do pay for them. appetizers and mid courses look wonderful but I just generally go for the steak. with a cocktail and a bottle of wine and dinner for two. you’ll be in to it for about $ 200 with tip.

I need a snooze button right next to the table because oh dear the food is so great and filling and enough to keep you full until lunch next day. We loved the crab cake as our starter. It is jumbo indeed and one serving comes with two huge lumps of real crab meat sizzling in hot lemon butter mmMmmMmm. It’s salted just right with parts of it pan-fried crispy. The T-bone was so gorgeously seared and juicy, served on a hot plate and it was cut for us already. The medium rare was cooked right and the meat was lightly salted wit beautiful centre and tender bite. I highly recommend you to order a glass or a bottle of wine to balance the fattiness of the meat and everything else. Our baked potato«all-in» was topped with cheddar cheese, chives, bacon bits, and sour cream glistening with butter all around and it was a thing of OMG good. The boiled asparagus was a bliss to counter all the grease and they were cooked to a nice crunch. It was a pity we weren’t able to sample the cream brûlée as it looked to be a staple item on every table. Perhaps next time. Our bill came to be $ 106.50 after tax before tip and to us this is a pretty good price tag given the quality and portion of food and good service. Cheerio!
