Sabria’s Burger and Fries

While its hard to screw up burgers and fries, it is also hard to totally excel at them. I’ve tried Sabria’s several times since they opened a few months ago and been pleasantly surprised.
While the lamb and turkey burgers are quite tasty, the classic beef burger is where its at. The meat is perfectly seasoned and prepared, and is served on a nicely baked bun with high quality toppings. All meats are prepared halal, and the french fries are generally light, crispy and salted to perfection. I haven’t yet tried the falafel, but given the quality of the other fried options I’m guessing its pretty good. And while I’m not necessarily a fan of smothering things in chili, their promise to «Add chili to anything — $ 1.00» is bound to get some people’s motors running.
The grilled cheese and portabello burger provide reasonable vegetarian options, and the inclusion of a hot dog and kid’s burger will keep the little tikes happy. Great toppings and add-​ons complete your burger, and everyone can enjoy gorging on fried Twinkies at the end of the meal.
In general, Sabria’s is a simple but quality addition to the downtown Portland food cart scene. I love the diversity of choices, and the cook’s friendly and attentive demeanor makes ordering a pleasant experience. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a classic American lunch with a twist.
