I’m picky AF when it comes to my Thai food, and rarely does a place wow me with what they have. For a truck stand, this has impressed me so much that when I’m downtown I go here instead of the restaurants. Super cheap, friendly people, and more importantly yummy food! I usually order the spicy chicken and rice, and I can’t get enough of it! Did they put something in the sauce? LOL

I opted for the chicken pad thai and was pretty happy with it. It wasn’t too sweet or too sour and tasted good overall. The portion is fairly large, so it’s definitely share-able. It came in a plastic lidded takeout container, which made it easy for us to bring home the leftovers. The Thai iced tea was very good! It was milky and smooth. The milk was just enough so as to not overpower the tea flavour. I would recommend asking for less sugar/sweetener though, as the full amount they add is quite sweet. If I were to come back, I’d likely try one of their curry house specials — that seemed to be a popular order.

So, had the chicken pad thai — it was just so-so — pretty good flavor, I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. I asked for medium spicy — but it came out spicier than I’ve ever had it at other places. But it’s nice that it was piping hot and spicy on a cold day. I think it was a dollar more expensive than some of the other Thai food trucks. Recommendation: Sure, try it, but I might try some other of the Thai food trucks there as well.

Sawasdee is always fast and always delicious. I think one of my favorite things about this Thai Food cart is that their noodles are always chewy and not over cooked. They are«smaller» portions compared to other thai food carts and just a tad more expensive, hence not a five star rating. But their food is always really really good.

Thai fried rice was the perfect to-go meal to take back to the hotel.

The pad kee Mao with tofu was delicious and $ 7. I’d come back and get this again! Food cart that you might easily miss, but try not to :) We ordered to-go mid-afternoon on a Monday. No line and they made it in less than 3 minutes.

The pumpkin curry and pad thai were extremely delicious! Enough for 5 stars for me. I have not had other dishes, I wish I had more time in Portland to eat here more often. So good and reasonably priced. Bravo

Not really a cheap place to eat at compared to other food trucks around here. Got the house special curry with chicken and brown rice for $ 7, a side of steamed vegetables for $ 4(which I think was a little steep). The curry was okay, I usually like curry with peanut sauce so it wasn’t bad. But definitely not the best curry I’ve ever had. The cashier was really nice though.

The lady working here is SO nice, and her memory is amazing. I went once and the next time I came she remembered me and my order/preferences. I got pad kee Mao(wide noodles), and I’d give it a 3 — good! I really like wide noodles, and have ordered them here twice. My 2nd visit I got yellow curry, and it was really good. I’d give it a 4. It was as good as any restaurant yellow curry I’ve had. The Thai iced tea($ 2) is AMAZING — 5! Also, I asked for medium spiciness and it was pretty spicy. Like, hard for me to eat much of. So I’d recommend mild.

This is incredibly long over due but I wanted to make sure I wrote it. This has by far been the best Thai food I have ever had. Admittedly I have only had the Chicken Pad Thai but I’ve brought co workers with me who have order other things and they’ve extremely enjoyed it. To speak to my pad Thai love affair. The noodles are perfect and the sauce is to die for. They don’t over crowd the plate with sprouts, nuts, or limes. I went here at the very least once a week for the last 5 years before I was recently promoted to Chicago. I made sure I had one last serving before I left. Now in Chicago I can find NOTHING comparable. As for the staff, they were always great. Especially Sunny who always knew my name and my order. I remember they changed their noodles(they may have changed back I’m not sure) a few years ago and she specifically asked me if I still enjoyed it. Of course I did but I couldn’t believe she even wanted my opinion. That type of thing never happens. I seriously cannot wait to get back to Portland and one of my main reasons is to get this back in my life!

I would give these guys 5 stars for their Pad Thai. After spending 3 months in Thailand last fall and trying a huge variety of Pad Thai dishes — this one falls right in line with what I’ve grown to love.

Authentic pad thai this is the place to go it is not overly sweet and it has a good kick but it is very spicy and then the pineapple fried rice has the right ingredients. A 1 or so more then competition but worth it.

Very good thai food. However, I would be happier with more protein per rice ratio. I ordered the green curry with tofu and it was mostly rice. I did love the super cheap thai iced tea, $ 2 for 16 ounces.

I have eaten at this cart for more than 10 years, and it is hands down my favorite«Thai Cart» in Portland. The only thing more remarkable than their food is the fact Sunny(the owner) always remembers my name and order(chicken pad kee mao, medium spicy)!

Sawasdee has the best Tom Kha soup I have ever had. It’s enormous, has lots of fresh veggies and chicken, and will warm you up on a cold rainy day in Portland. The Pad Thai here is also really good but you have to ask for peanut sauce on it! The peanut sauce is killer. My dad has worked downtown for 15 years and eats at the carts almost every day. Without a question his favorite cart is Sawasdee. Anyone that asks for a lunch spot suggestion, he always recommends Sawasdee.

I always first judge a Thai place by its Pad Thai. Theirs was not the worst Pad Thai I’ve had, but I would never order it again. It’s the kind that’s very«liquidy» and almost ketchup like. Wasn’t a fan.

This place is delicious. My boyfriend had the biggest craving for yellow curry and bam there was this Thai Cart Food. $ 7 i think for it? Good portions and enough napkins to deal with his food mess haha. I would love to come back here when I get the chance to visit again!

I have been going here since 2007 and this is my favorite Pad Thai in Portland! I always get Chicken Pad Thai and have them ADD peanut sauce. That last step is crucial people, their peanut sauce is amazing. This is an authentic establishment originally started by family members. It is fairly priced, offers respectable portions, and it’s so good it was my «have to have it» food whenever I was home from college. Fun Fact: The owner Sunni literally has the best memory for names of anyone I have ever met. Friends and I used to call in our orders and she had all our numbers memorized!

That’s right. 5 stars for a Thai food cart. This cart kicks ass! Their curries are delicious and spot on, and their noodle dishes are addictively good. Try the Pad Kee Mao. Extra spicy.

Good quality Thai food. We stopped here for lunch. The number of food trucks at this corner was astonishing. After chatting with some locals I chose Sawasdee to try. I ordered the traditional Thai Pad Chicken and Thai Iced Tea. I was pleased and satisfied with my meal. It was bountiful and filling. Although there is minimal seating, we managed to luck out and grab a nearby table and enjoyed each one of our choices under a tree. When I visit Portland again I will make sure to stop in for lunch.

My husband and I were visiting from Vancouver BC and decided to have a bite to eat since we heard great things about the food carts. We didn’t know which cart to try out but then decided to try Sawasdee Thai Food. The lady was really nice and recommended the Pad Kee Mao. It was absolutely one of the best noodle dishes we have ever had. We went back the next day and tried the Spicy Fried Rice-also excellent. We will definitely come back here the next time we are in Portland. Love this place. Want to try the Tom Yum Soup and curry next time. Portions are ok but not huge.
