The inventory associate called to tell me they have the bolts that I was missing!
He offered to ship them to the house, but then went the extra mile and told me he would drop them off at my house. His action is very appreciated since I had to order bolts from a specialty hardware store which had to order them from over seas.
Thank you for taking that extra step in customer service. We can’t wait to sleep in our bed again.

Very impressed with this company. Styles you just don’t see everywhere. One of the owners, I think his name was Alvin actually delivered my order because I needed right away and HOM couldn’t bring for two weeks. I would highly recommend Alvin and Scan Design. Impressive!

This place is one of the best furniture stores I have ever been in. The staff is so knowledgable but not at all pushy. They truly just want to help you find something you like. Their furniture is beautiful, classic, and unique. You will especially like it if you are looking for more modern, Scandinavian design with clean lines. They have a wide variety of couches, tables, bedroom items, and some office furniture. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of the furniture. I haven’t found a furniture store to equal it in all of Portland. It’s truly a nice shopping experience. Go now during their 50th anniversary sale: 25−30% off many items!

I’ve driven past this place a million times over the past twenty years, but it never got passed my mental inertia that is was a furniture store. It’s surrounded by strip clubs, xxx-​rated book stores, flea markets and people looking for their missing chromosomes, so I just assumed the worst and kept driving. I recently looked up the local distributor for the Norwegian chair manufacturer, Ekrones and Scan/​Design popped up.
We dropped in to look around, and boy was I surprised. We stepped out of the blighted surroundings, and into a huge space full of upscale furniture — it was sort of like visiting Baby Doc Duvalier. They not only had a great selection of Ekrnoes Stressless furniture, but three stories of beautiful and contemporary Scandinavian designs — oh wait… Scan/Design…I get it now.
A nice fellow named Jurgen was very helpful and answered our many questions. I’ll definitely return, but not after dark.

Mesmerized when I walked in. So many unusual and quality pieces of furniture. Hello? Moving van? Oh and could you also bring me that armoured truck with all that green stuff while you are it. In fact, bring me the armoured truck first, empty it out and then fill it with all these wonderful pieces of furniture. Oh and these items are well worth what they are asking for. They will last forever. You only have to buy them once in your lifetime. Quality.
You won’t hear furniture made in China. There may be a line, especially for folks that just don’t get it but otherwise you are looking at some fine items.
We even had a wonderful salesperson from Norway telling us all about these incredible reclining chairs for starters.
I could be there all day.

I bought an expensive Ekornes recliner chair from Scan Design in Seattle before moving to Portland a year or so ago.
When the arm rest of the chair seemed off, II called the local Scan Design here, in Portland (Gresham), since they sell the line too.
The store manager, Jorgen, couldn’t have been nicer or more obliging. The obvious thing was to tell me to bring the chair in, but it’s a bulky thing that wouldn’t fit in my car. He agreed to stop by our house, had the tools to make an adjustment, and did so on the spot.
If we have furniture needs here, rest assured I will consider dealing with this store. They obviously care about their customers.
