Good sushi. it was difficult picking from a dense population of sushi places in a small area. this one is centrally located and easy to access. I had the Caterpillar(eel and avocado) and the spicy tuna. the hot tea was great and the service was good. The avocado was really fresh, almost sweet. there was a ton on my caterpillar roll so i could share it with my lonely spicy tuna. quick lunch and i was out the door.

This restaurant is fantastic! The freshest sushi I’ve ever had. And you MUST try the crab and uni mac and cheese.

What took me so long? Been to most of the sushi places in Portland and Shima ranks right up there as a favorite. Not only do they have great sushi but they also have an interesting menu that reflects the background of the owner/chef. Where else will you find gator at a sushi restaurant?(It does taste like chicken). The interior is very nice — comfortable, classy, perhaps a little too cozy. Top Portland sushi pick, I’ll be back for sure.

went to Shima last night with a buddy despite some of the reviews I had read on other sites. Consider myself a Sushi fanatic especially in Portland. Frequenting the sushi establishments weekly. It was excellent. very nice presentation and generous portions for a great price. Had two rolls including a calamari roll, four piece sashimi. 24 dollars. The chef prepared other great looking dishes as i sat at sushi bar. Including mac and cheese with truffle. A seveche that looked insane. i say try it you wont be disappointed.
