Looking for a good burger place is always tough. You genuinely want fresh ingredients with none of that processed crap the chains or even sadly some other local ones have(ie: American cheese. That stuff is just gross or ketchup and mustard. Are you an adult or a child? seriously?) I came accross this one via Unilocal and devices to give it a try and I’m glad I did. I had the standard orgnial 1⁄3 lb burger with a side of fries and a coke. Everything tasted fresh and had just the right amount of toppings. The meat is cooked to your liking with is always a plus. The burger did come with some oinion rings on it, I took them off and ate them separate. The rings tasted like the breading around it had a buttery taste to it but it wasn’t over powering and wasn’t all greasy and in fact tasted like the Rings are made in house not shipped in frozen. Nice. Over all I’ll return. Only downside from giving this a full five star review is the location. Parking can be a nightmare. Thankfully there was an open space where I came by, but there’s a very limited amount of seating. Like 8 for the booth, five for the high table along the front and four at the counter. Of course there’s an outdoor patio, but at the time of this review, in January 2016, eating outside in 35 degree weather isn’t ideal. Neither is eatting outside in 90 degree weather but what ever…

I so wanted to like this but now I cannot get the taste out of my mouth… Walked in one-ish me and one other guest girl just sat there watching tv no greeting… Never asked me what temp I wanted my butter(probably because well done and cold is the only option) I had the garlic Fries. nice idea but the Fries were cold and out of a bag not the best quality… even worse the cheese and garlic mix while a good amount was out on the cold Fries and not melted so image Fries and grated cheese… not sure how your supposed to get dry cheese to stick to the cold fry? I got a «Mike butter» again it too was cold the bun was more like bread than bun and very dry I couldn’t taste the pepper jack cheese there was so little. The one admittedly good thing to say was the need was well flavored with some Worcestershire flavor and more.

Slowburger had a surprisingly low rating, but I enjoyed it quite a bit when I came in the other evening. Staff was nice enough, and the burgers were quite good. Very filling, I could not even finish mine, and I ordered the 1⁄3 lb regular burger. I’m normally not a fan of it, but even their relish was good. This place attracts a younger crowd, it has a younger atmosphere and décor. One thing I thought was great about this place was that they also have punch cards, who doesn’t love being rewarded for being a loyal customer?

Every single burger here is delicious. Greasy crispy onion rings will make your mouth water with every bite. Really glad they now are available for Amazon prime delivery.

Slowburger has changed their menu from the one, two, etc. to a fixed menu with specials. There may not be a special burger on any given day, and they last for an unpredictable number of days. Sadly the Slowburger website is under control of Slow Bar and neither have updated menus. Both have Twitter and they don’t Twitter for specials. Maybe if they get enough voice calls asking what the specials are, they will get into the modern age. The cajun fries on my visit were underspiced, unfortunate. On the plus side, they have added 8oz patties as an option, Slow Bar style.

Slowburger has quickly become one of my favorite burger joints. They’re tasty and meaty, the way good burgers should be. Not to mention, without the fluff. Along with their neighbors, the tiny space is simply, visually appealing and clean. Each time I’ve gone here it just happens to be on a Sunday afternoon. It’s not busy and so the food comes out quick. You can tell they really pride themselves in their burgers. Their sides are a different story. Although very tasty, portions appear on the conservative side. During my first visit, I ordered a side of onion rings. What was given to me left much to be desired. I remembered this during my most recent visit and so I ordered 2 sliders without sides.

Quality ingredients ruined with poor execution. Ordered Medium Rare and it was served in the Well side of Medium Well, and while not dry, the burger was tough(over handled?). Greasy flavorless onion rings. If you only do one thing, why not do it well?

I love this corner of mini-restaurants and wanted to like slo burger too. The service was charming. Unfortunately, the food was so-so at best. I ordered the Original burger and Cajun fries. The onion rings on the burger were crunchy with grease and not flavorful. I tried a few bites, then pulled the onion rings off. After that, the burger had no flavor. Maybe they forgot the relish and aioli, but it really was flavorless. The beef was a bit grisly as well. The fries were not particularly fresh and again, had very little flavor. For this many calories and this much money, it should taste better.

During burger week, we came in for their advertised special– the pimento cheese burger. I love pimento cheese & the cheese was good, but there wasn’t hardly any on there. Honestly, the burger, in general, was a bit of a disappointment. The meat was too overdone. While the Burger Week sounds like a good idea to bring people in, you should really focus on making that a great burger. There was nothing about this burger that has me wanting to rush back to this place.

I would love to love this place. However, I have 3 negative comments: 1) Music suitable for those under 30 played at top volume. 2) Counter help does not know how to pull a draft beer correctly. 3) All burgers come WELLDONEDESPITEREQUESTSTOCOOKMEDIUMRAREORRARE. This is in spite of a sign on the wall announcing that BURGERSARECOOKEDTOCUSTOMERREQUEST.

Recently went here for Burger Week, and got the Pimento Cheese burger which was the special for that week. It was a good burger(I love pimento cheese) but overall I just love a basic cheeseburger. We also got garlic fries(I really wanted the cheese fries, but was told they were out), and they were really good as well. A lot of garlic, sprinkled liberally with Parmesan Cheese. Service was really friendly and relatively fast. It was packed(on a Friday afternoon), but luckily we found a table outside. After perusing the menu, I definitely want to come back and try a basic cheeseburger because they sound really good. I’m still on the hunt for the best burger in Portland, and I’ll let you know that I think after I come back.

I love the fast and efficient service but to say that the burger is great is pushing it. It is decent but there is barely anything outstanding about it. It has pickles, cheese, buns, the meat itself is mediocre. But it’s all good. I got them from burger week which is a great deal for $ 5. The outside patio would be great for two months of the year. They may need to rethink their design as you cannot sit on it if it starts drizzling. The interior has some simple and cool designs.

This is my second review of the place — except this time it is during burger week. The impression this time was much better. The customer service was great. The lady at the cashier was enthusiastic and had a nice smile. She was not afraid to chat with me or other customers. When we got our food delivered, the burgers tasted great and juicy as it looked. The Cajun fries were good just like the cashier recommended. This place 2 as by far the best burger place I have eaten so far during burger week. Better than iconic, Spirit of 77, but the restaurant itself is not as appealing.

And so another year of Burger week begins and I’m actually out on day one of it. Last year I went to all of one place. Maybe it’s me, but I do enjoy having arteries that aren’t too clogged. But I can’t resist a really good burger for $ 5. I chose to go to Slowburger for two reasons. #1 I had never been to Slowburger and #2 it was in close proximity to where I was staying for a week. That was my criteria. Slow burger’s entrée this year was the Pimento Burger. Pimento cheese, shoestring fried onions, kosher pickle(which some woman had no clue what a kosher pickle was) with a nice hunk of meat and a buttery good toasted bun. I will say, it was a mighty fine choice for my first of the week. I’m not much for Pimento cheese, it’s a southern thing and it was pretty big in Texas, but on a burger, it worked. The fried onions were a nice contrast in texture and the pickles lent the crunch. It was solid and I plan on returning to try other burgers on the menu. Surprisingly, for day one, it wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be. Last year, I saw lines out the door at a few places. But it was only Monday. I only had one burger. I saw other Unilocalers that already had tried three or four burgers. As I said earlier, I like unclogged arteries and a functioning heart. Not to say that there won’t be more burgers this week, but I’ll pace myself. Great burger, great, friendly service and a $ 3 beer to boot. Enjoy.

Awesome little burger joint in Northeast Portland! Situated within a strip of small eateries in a re-purposed building right on Glisan, Slowburger features fresh, local ingredients and free-range beef. The place is small — there are only a few tables and a long bar, but there is plenty of patio dining for the complex, weather permitting. I had the chance to sample Slowburger during a recent trip to Portland with my brothers. Both of my brothers ordered the $ 5 burger — a 1⁄3 pound Vietnamese themed burger that has radish, carrots, cilantro, jalapenos and sriracha sauce. They both devoured the burgers. I went with a 1⁄3 pound original, cooked medium. The original has gruyère cheese(heavenly), pickle relish, lettuce and two onion rings. It is served on a ridiculously soft, sesame seed-studded brioche bun. The burger was cooked perfectly — juicy and well-seasoned. I saw that a previous review noted that the burgers were overcooked. I was asked exactly how I wanted my burger cooked and it came out a perfect medium with a nice warm pink middle, so my experience was definitely different. They offer most of their burgers in three different sizes — a slider for $ 4, the 1⁄3 lb for $ 8 and a ½ lb for $ 9. I guess from a value perspective the $ 9 burger is the way to go, but I found the 1⁄3 lb burger just the right size — I was stuffed! We also shared a large order of garlic fries and a small order of onion rings. TIP: Only order the the garlic fries if you LOVE garlic — it is amazing, but it may keep you from getting too many kisses for the rest of the day. It packs some awesome flavor. The onion rings were also very good, but I was a little disappointed that a small order consisted of only three rings. Either way, between the three of us, we were more than satisfied. Oh and they serve beer too :) And yes, Emily is awesome!

Is this why they call it slow burger? Understanding it is burger week(hence not one star), waiting almost an hour for an extremely well-done burger and over salted cajun fries was not what I call a good burger night. Slowburger did introduce me to Stiegl grapefruit beer, which paired well with my spicy burger and ketchup. Contrary to the other Unilocal reviews, the staff was pretty polite and tried to get the orders out of the kitchen as quickly as possible. Maybe they will be better at a less hectic hour…

I’ve never been to Slow Bar, but I’ve heard great things about their burger and my 2014 burger quest was the perfect excuse to finally go and try it. Since Slowburger is closer to me, I ended up at this location. The restaurant is pretty small, but it has a large outdoor eating area with a fire pit. There is a large digital screen showing the menu and you order at the bar. I’m not sure how the service in a place like this can be bad, since the interaction with the staff is pretty minimal. I ordered the #2: chipotle cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon, lettuce and Slow Sauce. My GF got the seasonal: Pepper Jack, bacon, jalapeños, dill pickle, sweet & sour iceberg lettuce slaw and a small order of stinky cheese fries. I also don’t understand why people complain about the price, $ 8 for a high quality burger is pretty damn good. I like that they had various ketchups and mustards to choose from, but I could not taste any difference between the normal catsup and the harissa catsup. The food came out shortly and I was surprised by how big the burger was. It was also quite a bit of fries for a small order– definitely enough to share. I forgot to request my burger rare and I was worried that the medium was going to be on the med-well side, but upon first bite I was very pleasantly surprised to see that pink hue denoting it was cooked med-rare. This was one juicy burger. The meat was perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. The brioche bun was a great idea as it soaked up the ample meat juices. I was a bit disappointed with the toppings though. The patty is so large it really dominates the toppings. There was too little bacon that was also very over cooked, and it didn’t add anything to the burger. The caramelized onions were very good, but just not enough of them. The same goes for the lettuce. My GF’s burger definitely had a better meat to toppings ratio. While my burger was like eating a big, delicious hunk of meat, her’s had several flavors that complimented each other. The fries were good, but the cheese was pretty bland. No hint of stinkiness. I definitely plan on returning to Slowburger. They had 6 burgers on the menu and they all sounded great. At $ 8 it’s an excellent value.
