How I miss having Lucynda Beth cut my hair now that I no longer live in Portland. During a recent visit to Portland, I even made an appointment to have her fix a bad cut I got on the east coast. She is so talented and she listens! Truly a gem!

I’ve been going to Denice for over 3 years now. Love what she does for my hair. She is truly a color expert.

I have been going to Denice to get my hair done for going on 9 years now and would never trust anyone else with my hair. She always LISTENS to what I want and does exactly what I ask for, and I’m a pain the butt with my hair! I’ve followed her to three different salons now, having first met her as a (nervous) walk in at one of her old salons, and I HIGHLY recommend her, especially if you have tricky, unruly, curly hair like me.
She owns this vintage-​decorated salon and I’ve watched her co-​stylist Lucynda work hair magic on clients as well. Both are very professional, reasonably priced, super friendly and very skilled. They sell great, cruelty-​free hair products too.
If you need more proof, I actually had the extreme privilege of getting to meet Chris Isaak once after a recent visit to Denice and he totally complimented my hair! (Note — that’s not an official celebrity endorsement but it’s completely true!)

Even though I am just visiting from out of town, I was treated like family! I LOVE my color and the experience made my entire (rainy, wet, cold) day!

The ladies at Swoon kick some serious ass, I’m telling you. I usually avoid going to the hair salon, I end up doing it myself. and then would go see Denice or Lucynda Beth to fix it. Since I moved out of town, I only get to see them sporadically. which is a damn shame. My hair misses them.
Do yourself a favor, go see the ladies at Swoon-​I promise, they will make you happy.

Most people are unaware of exactly how gruesome my visage truly is: I have been a client of both Lucynda «Bethy Pants» Thompson and Denice «Poopy Butt» McMillin of Swoon for a LOOOOOONG time. Both are unparalleled in alll the arts of styling, cutting, blowing…
if they can make me look good, just imagine what a half-​way decent person like yourself can achieve visually.

The only thing I put the slightest effort into as far as appearance… is my hair… So I put A LOT of emphasis on how much I like my hair. Lucinda, my love… will you marry me so I will look this good into my dottage? You do simply marvelous job and your conversation is scintillating!

Denice has been cutting my hair for a decade. She always goes the extra mile to make sure I’m happy, and I’m a tough sell. She has seen me through a pixie cut, long waves halfway down my back, a cute bob, color, no color, you name it. She has an amazing eye for what will look good on her clients. And she’s hilarious to boot. Oh, and I’ve had cuts by Lucynda also over the years and she’s fabulous as well. Can’t go wrong at Swoon.

I’ve been with the brilliant stylist Lucynda Thompson since her days at the now-​closed Dirty Little Secret Salon (most recently she was at Whack on E. Burnside) and I love her new location at Swoon Salon on N. Rosa Parks. Swoon is in a transformed house and it has a very friendly, neighborhoody vibe (and some very pretty new landscaping out front). Denice McMullin is the other stylist (and I believe owner) at Swoon and from what I could see she’s wonderful as well. Can’t go wrong with Swoon!
