The Schnitzelwich is as advertised. I wish I would have the Presidential version but I’ll have to do it next time I am in town. Food is fresh but worth the wait. It was also served hot so even if you have to walk a few blocks it was still hot when I got back to the office.

Original schnitzelwich? Why, yes. Thank you! I couldn’t resist this afternoon snack. Snack? Well, when you have a travel companion with a bottomless stomach, you need to supplement meals. Tabor is in a small pod in the financial district area. The schnitzelwich was much larger than I imagined. We got the breaded chicken breast. The flavors and spices are scrumptious. It’s not just a breaded piece of chicken. The horseradish gives a nice little kick, in fact I think the horseradish is what really made this ‘wich. We also had a nice 8 oz cup of the tomato based mushroom soup. Again, the depth of flavors provided by the spices made this dish unforgettable. I really enjoyed the soup on a chilly afternoon. Considering this was after the lunch crowd, we were able to find counter seating next to the pod. It was a nice little snack. Highly recommend — especially if you’re sharing.

With all the food carts in this area, I was overwhelmed with what to try. I picked this place because it was named one of the 10 best food carts in the US. Why not, right? My boyfriend and I both got a schnitzelwich. You get the choice of chicken or pork so we got 1 of each. I was so excited when he handed me this giant creation, but that excitement soon dissipated with each bite. Each component was good on its own. The bread was good. The meat was moist, and the breading was crispy and well seasoned. The tomato based sauce was flavorful and delicious and horseradish had a kick to it. Overall, it just didn’t work for me all together. The horseradish was overpowering. I also think the bread is way to thick, however, acted as a nice vessel in keeping everything in tact. I found that the pork was more flavorful than the chicken but also very fatty. At the end of the day, it was nothing special.

The schnitzelwich is huge! After semi-wrapping both hands around the schnitzelwich, I realized that it was hard for me to take a bite big enough to get both pieces of ciabatta bread, the pork schnitzel, and lettuce in one bite. When I finally did, it was pretty good. I liked the combination of horseradish mayo and ajvar(roasted pepper sauce) in one bite. 1 star off: Tabor could use a little more work on the pork schnitzel. For some parts, it was chewy, making it difficult to eat in a sandwich. I guess I could eat everything individually… nah.

Tabor is in my work lunch rotation. While I enjoyed their signature schnitzelwich, I prefer their central European classics like Goulash which I had this time. Great spices and big dumpling in the broth. It is heavy and packed with flavor.

A Tabor schnitzelwich is not the healthiest thing you can pick up from a Portland food cart, but it’s pretty freakin’ delicious. I knew that on my trip to Portland, I was likely to be eating several times a day, so I really appreciated that Tabor offered half-sandwiches. I had the pork schnitzelwich with no alterations, but if I could go back and do it over, I would’ve asked them to leave out the horseradish. It could be a matter of personal preference, but I found that it overpowered the rest of the sandwich(and totally burned in my nose!).

The last time I went here was in the summer of 2012, when I was living in Portland. Moving back sometime soon, it will be one of the first places I go back to. I’ve been thinking about it since I left! I actually went out of my way and looked for about 20 minutes online to find out the name of this place. I usually order the Original«Pork» Schnitzelwich and it is definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Which is saying a lot from someone who has lived in Portland and grew up in NYC. Im not sure what it is that makes it so good because its a pretty simple sandwich… but the crust is very good and something about how the meat is cooked or the seasoning used maybe. Very original… Ive never seen/had a sandwich like this anywhere or even a similar version. Oh and I was surprised at how much I liked the paprika spread! When I saw they put paprika on it I figured I’d have to wipe it off with a napkin because its not something I would purposely pick on my own to eat… but I was very surprised at how yummy it was! It complimented the sandwich’s flavor very well. Good pairing.

My only complaint is that I had to eventually say goodbye to each of the beautiful sandwiches I tried here. Their signature schnitzelwich is absolutely gorgeous, but the Kingwich is my new favorite. $ 11 for two sizable hunks of perfectly rare filet mignon with arugula and an immaculate Dijon aioli. By the time it was gone I had already walked too far to run back and buy another. Next time. Next time…

I finally decided to venture down to these food carts and instantly settled on Tabor. I had the Presidential Schnitzelwich and it was amazing. It was also huge and enough for two meals, which made the $ 11 less painful. The couple running the cart was very sweet and helpful, though I actually placed my order online thinking it would be slammed during the lunch hour. I still managed to beat the crowds a few minuted before noon but knowing I could easily place an order online and not even have to pay extra is definitely a perk. The rest of their menu looked equally delicious and I will definitely be back. Yum!

Finally got to try Tábor, I was not disappointed. A good way to order with a card is to place it online and then pick it up. There aren’t any fees and you can do it via phone in the case of you not having cash. Though, I would still recommend that they start accepting cards(at least with a minimum). The food was exceptional. It is all made to order. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, huge portions. The owners are very friendly and talkative. They have vegetarian and meat lover options. For your first time(if you eat meat) I’d suggest the Presidential. For vegetarians the eggplant is great as well. Bottom line: Go.

Great spot to get a very tasty lunch. Happy they are just across the street. This food has a Czech theme. I particularly like the schnitzel sandwich, arugula. Salad with breaded and pan fried chicken or pork. Very good. Lots of great choices. One of my favorite food carts.

I mean… 1lb of Chicken Czech Sandwich for less than $ 10. The Schnitzelwich is a must and one of the best sandwiches I’ve experienced in the Portland Food Cart scene.

I was really excited to visit this place, after reading about the legendary schinzelwich, especially the half portion, but to be honest, after trying the sandwich, I was quite underwhelmed. The fried chicken was definitely well made, crunchy on the outside and chewey on the inside and worked well with salsa based sauce. For $ 5, it was an excellent add on to the numerous other food trucks that we had in the queue, but I don’t know if a full $ 10 is justifiable for a chicken sandwich(at the end of the day). The bread was overly large and difficult to eat, not to mention a bit dry, especially in the setting of the fried chicken piece. The one large piece of lettuce was much more looks and didn’t add more to either texture or taste. Overall, I was too excited and just wasn’t blown off my feet, especially when everyone else seem to love it soo much. Maybe I’ll try out the spetzle next time. Food: 3 stars Price: 3 stars

I was pleasantly surprised with this food cart in downtown PDX. I ordered the Munster Sandwich, which is a breaded pan friend Munster Cheese on a Ciabatta bun with romaine lettuce and tartar sauce and the Hungarian Mushroom Soup, a must for any mushroom lover. The Sandwich was was very large and fresh and the cheese taste wasn’t overpoweringly strong. The only thing that would have made this sandwich better would have been a warm or toasted Ciabatta roll instead of it being cold. The mushroom soup has a slight spicy kick to it but isn’t super spicy. The texture is very creamy with lots of mushrooms. The owner is very friendly and answers every question without hesitation. Overall this is a great food cart and I plan trying his Schnitzel Sandwich soon!

Whenever you see crazy-good Unilocal reviews, pay attention. Thank you guys for leading me to Tábor! I do this thing where I forget to eat and it gets to the point where my insides are like, eating themselves and I feel like I’m gonna vomit. That’s how hungry I was when I made it there. So obviously I ordered the sampler plate. Don’t forget they are CASHONLY! They were able to break a benjamin for me(i’m fancy, guys!!) and were really friendly. The people who run this adorable little food shack are the type of owners you want to come back and support because they’re so kind. Luckily their food is also ah-maze-balls. Seriously. Holy cow. That Czech sampler plate… They stone-grind their own mustard. The chicken is cooked to Beyonce-level perfection. The potato salad and… the other thing with the ham and cabbage, compliment each other very nicely. The salad greens had to have been organic, they were so flavorful. This was a completely perfect meal. I was smiling to myself afterwards like a total psychopath. Their menu is great: I’ll be back to try goulash for the first time. Thanks, Tábor!
