Taco Pedaler

Sadly, not a fan. The service was mediocre, the food bland and overpriced and the margarita was weak. Also the guacamole we ordered came out once we were done. We didnt want it and were not offered a refund. The biggest rip off was the (spicy) kids pork taco plate. Dry, boring $ 7.
During Happy Hour: 3 tacos, chips (no guac), coke, margarita, horchata, kids plate =‘s waste of $ 40.
Atmosphere is super cute, the food is on par with Portland «Mexican» just wish it was not so expensive. Bummer.

Wow great prices! And really good house made salsas. Got a dilla and a taco — both chicken — and enjoyed the spicy salsa on each. Will be back!

Their tacos are really good and so are the salsas. You can tell the tortillas are hand made and reading that they’re made on the spot is not surprising. I like the casual atmosphere and I really enjoyed the little wooden tables outside.
4 stars instead of 5 because of the chips and guac situation. Somebody on this page said the chips they serve are Juanita’s brand but that would be high praise for these chips. They were very thin, flat, not very flavorful, and definitely not plentiful. Subjective part: If you like guacamole with visible chunks of onion and cilantro, don’t go here for the guacamole. It came out like a green cream with little green flecks in it. The flavor wasn’t bad but it was just such a creamy paste, it really wasn’t satisfying to me.

super tasty! it’s my new favorite taco place in pdx. all the sauces are excellent, you can make your food as mild or hot as you’d like, and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Best homemade corn tortilla shells in town! I get trio! Beef pork and chicken! The fish tacos are also on point!
Add salsa, guac and some beans because yum. We will be back asap

I had two special items. A agua fresca that was watermelon for about $ 7 – 8 I think. Then I had the two or three fish taco plate for $ 9 – 10? Plate came with pico and chips.
Chips were fantastic. Some of the freshest and tastiest I’ve had. Pico was good.
Tacos were okay, nothing too spectacular but solid and their house salsas were tasty (green spicy was my favorite).
I enjoyed a pretty quiet meal to myself and felt the atmosphere was calm enough to read and the patrons seemed to be parents with young kids.
I only subtract a star for the price. I think $ 20 for dinner is a little steep.
I’d probably go back and try some other (less expensive) options (and swap the cocktail for a beer or stick with water). But I feel like a «special» didn’t save me any money and was pretty middle of the road, taste wise.

The staff is super friendly, they have some little tables outside that are nice to sit at with friends. Their Micheladas are great. Their fish tacos are wonderful. I’ve been here 7 or 8 times and it has been a great experience every time.

I LOVE TACO PEDDLER!!! What can I say… you gotta make a call sometimes on where to eat and I choose TP. The tortillas are my all-​time fave, I love the tacos and the quesadillas soooo much it experience hunger pains when thinking about the authentic deliciousness in every bite!
I must go for my fix of fresh, yummy goodness… plus it is fun to try the specials, they add nice variety to a strong to quite strong menu.

I drive by Taco Pedaler daily on my way to and from work. My co-​workers and I decided to go here for lunch one afternoon, and we ordered tacos and chips and guacamole to go. It took about 10 – 15 minutes for our food to come out, which seemed like a long time given the restaurant was empty and our orders were pretty simple. Maybe it was an off afternoon, but the service and food were not very impressive.
My co-​workers ordered the baja fish tacos, and it wasn’t until after they paid and we sat down to wait, that the cashier apologetically informed us that there was only one order of fish tacos left. I ordered the beef tacos, and the meat was dry and essentially flavorless. And the guacamole we ordered to go with the chips came in a small, over-​priced ramekin. I had high hopes for Taco Pedaler, but sadly, I was let down.

When I’m up in this area I tend to take a left on 21^st or I’m heading right on 26^th so I tend to miss a few streets, so on the rare occasion I do, I tend to find places that I didn’t know existed. Hence my appearance at Taco Pedaler.
Tacos are never a bad option. Homemade from scratch tacos? Even better. Some of the prior reviews mention that these were originally off of bicycle carts (which they still are, one came up while I was eating) and they have their brick and mortar location. Ok, so I got a couple tacos at $ 2.50 a pop. Beef and chicken and some chips and salsa for $ 2.00. The salsa was fresh and pretty good. Heavy on the salt and lime taste with some cilantro. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It wasn’t really spicy, which I prefer but the taste was there. I was also given three hot sauces for the tacos. Mild was a bit watery and not a whole lot going on there. Medium was the star. Sweet roasted tomatoes in every bite. Really great and much thicker than the mild. It also wasn’t really spicy, but I loved the taste. The hot one had a slight sweet and spicy kick to it, also thick but it was missing something. As for the tacos. Well, those were pretty good as well. I loved the homemade tortillas. They were a little on the thicker side which was perfect. They didn’t fall apart. Both were garnished with cabbage and cilantro. There could have been a bit more meat added, but both were flavorful. The slow cooked and shredded beef was sweet and the chicken had the right spices in it.
The space is small, but it is colorful and had lots of textures. They also do some agua frescas and other drinks as well.
Definitely a nice little spot for the area, but I did notice a Cha Cha Cha right up the street as well. Healthy competition.

I’ve wanted to try Taco Pedaler for a while and went yesterday, missing Happy Hour by a few minutes. I recommend trying them out for HH (everday til 6:30) first.
The ambiance of this place is adorable. Bright colors, kitchy décor and lots of vintage pieces. The service was slow but nice. They make their tortillas by hand and all of the produce and meat come from mostly local purveyors, which definitely gives them serious points. However, I really wasn’t blown away by anything I tried.
We tried each of the tacos they offer (chicken, beef, pork). The chicken was actually my favorite, it was the most flavorful and the chicken was moist. The pork taco was very dry and disappointing. The tortillas are definitely amazing, but the tacos are very small and can get quite dry without any sauce. The fixings (cilantro, cotija & cabbage) are also scarce.
The dillas are their version of an empanada. The beef one was good but the potato & green chile was very void of flavor and watery. I would pass on the guacamole and chips. The guacamole is more of a sour cream/​avocado dip. The beer-garita’s are amazing and a must try, but the Sangria (apple and blueberry) was passable.
Since the tacos are so tiny (smaller portion than your average street taco), I would recommend at least 2 tacos and a dilla per person. We also each did a side of rice and beans which was very small. A «cheap» meal ended up being a lot more than expected. :)

At a first glance an «A» for ambiance and location, the bar seating overlooking Broadway is nice.
Then…a below average Sangria and tiny portion food. While the tortilla on the mini taco tasted fresh, the beef filling was flavorless. The Dilla on its own merit is somewhat yummy, but not for the size and price point. I was the only customer.
The sauces were somewhat a cut above what you find at authentic places.

This is a cute lil place & you can sit outside on really stupid benches that will fit your skinny jeans no problem. Obviously, we’re in Portland — so order at the counter, bus your own table. God, I feel like I should be getting tipped to eat in this city!
First off, EVERYTHING is gluten free. Fuck yeah. Beans and rice are add-​ons, they’re worth it. Tacos aren’t just some tacos you would expect to get at every other taco joint around here (aka Por que No?). This differentiator is what makes the Taco Peddler worth the visit — try a new taco style and stand out from the rest like they do. Cheese and tortillas will be the fun, surprising factors here — meat was marinated great. Go check out these new tacos.

I’d like to give this restaurant more stars but I’m thinking even three may be generous at this moment in time.
Although I think the food is pretty good it’s over priced for what you get.
I don’t doubt that the ingredients are of good quality — I enjoyed the homemade tortillas but the tacos are ridiculously small for $ 2.50.
They suggest getting between 2 and 4 as a meal and I got two chicken tacos and the chips and salsa guacamole trio. That sounds like a lot of food and I’m not a big eater but the guacamole and salsa portions were quite small and nothing special.
The chips are Juanitas brand — I watched the server –they got them out of the bag (with bare hands I might add, no gloves Not Cool)
My husband had the pork dilla which was smallish and with sodas and a couple of margaritas our supposed casual meal turned into a $ 50.00 bus your own table experience. Not worth it. Kid had a quesadilla with chicken, other kid had rice and tacos. I’m talking really small portions here– hey! everyone knows Americans can surely do with a slimmer waistline but at least make the cost align with the food.
I’m thinking that the salsas were pretty good, otherwise what you get in a small round tortilla, is a tiny sprinkling of cotija with maybe two tablespoons of meat and a few veggies on each taco. I don’t think it’s as bland as some say… But the restaurant is not particularly comfortable, the food and margaritas are way overpriced and it’s really a shame.
This spot is in my neighborhood and an easy walk.
I really wish there was something special enough about it to make me want to go back, but there isn’t.
The service was ok, the place was pretty clean and the music was nice– it’s very hot inside on a warm day. I’m hoping to give it another chance at some point as I want to support our local restaurants but nothing really stands out as a reason to go back. Prove me wrong TP! I’d love to visit again when/​if things evolve a bit.

I should begin by saying I don’t dole out two star reviews casually – especially for small independently run businesses. I know reviews can sometimes make or break a place. And this brick and mortar incarnation of Taco Peddler is just a few blocks from my home, so I was really excited to see it open. The place is bright and super cozy and inviting, with great summer outdoor seating. It’s a really appealing, inviting space. I was excited to have good tacos only a blocks away.
That caveat out of the way, I must sadly confess that these were the most bland and flavorless tacos (one pork and one chicken) that I think I’ve ever tasted in my life. Same goes for the dilla I ordered (potato-​pepper). Even the hot sauce tasted like nothing. I see now that several other reviewers have shared the same lament about the blandness, so it’s not just me.
It was kind of a dumbfounding experience, actually. The corn tortillas are obviously scratch made (apparently with no salt). All of the ingredients appear to be fresh and high quality. Then you take a bite and it’s shocking. Absolutely no flavor. Dry, pasty corn. I can only assume this is a simple matter of spice and seasoning. Simple salt and pepper would be an improvement for starters. I found myself craving some salt, and I normally don’t ever salt my food. But spice is lacking as well. Oregano. Jalapeño. Cilantro. Lime. The stuff that’s traditionally used in Mexican cuisine just doesn’t seem to be there.
I ate everything, because I was pretty hungry, but my girlfriend threw in the towel after taking one bite of her taco (and frowning) and one bite of her dilla (and frowning again). Walking away from the lunch you just paid for speaks louder than words, I think.
Sorry to have to leave a two star review. The space is great. The service was good. Just use some salt and spices and this place could be great.

Unfortunately taco pedaler was not as good as I was expecting. Service was a bit unfriendly like we were an inconvenience. Pinto tacos were ok, tortillas were good but the cabbage and cilantro were not exciting — it was bland. The potato dilla was ok, again good tortilla but the inside was just like mashed russet potatoes. We ordered chips and guac and the side of guac was small and heavily cut with sour cream. Salsa’s were bland, even the green one labelled hot. I think they have potential just need to tweak the ingredients and add some flavor.

Very very cute place. It just opened but there were a few groups there at 5pm. They have inside and outside seating. The menu is small but they make everything when you order it says. I was a little disappointed in the quesadilla with chicken. Pretty over priced for something so small and doesn’t come with chips and salsa, that’s extra. Go with the tacos. That seems like a better choice. They also serve Margaritas which they looked really good, I unfortunately was on a work break and couldn’t have the margaritas. I think overall it’s an awesome Portland restaurant being that they began peddling tacos on the street to now having a cute restaurant. if you want a big Mexican meal go somewhere else but lunch here is pretty awesome if you just get the tacos. Really tasty meat and really fresh on extremely fresh tortillas.

New restaurant within easy walking distance. Warm spring evening. We gave it a try. Glad we did.
We ordered a couple of tacos a piece, chicken and pork. Both were good, just the right size. Add a bit of cojito cheese and cilantro. Yum. We also ordered a salad. Good greens. House dressing, not overly dressed. We got a couple of house margharitas. Good. 4 tacos, 1 salad and 2 drinks; $ 28.00. Worth a lot more.
They have some tables outside. They are very narrow and the benches a fixed close to the edge of the table top; uncomfortable.
Glad we stopped in and we will do it again. Great food, great bargain, close to home. Glad they moved into the neighborhood.

This place is super cute! Great atmosphere. It is quaint and decorated cute. Has a real homey rustic feel. I mostly say this because it looks like my house. They also play great music and it’s a decent level so you can still talk and be heard. The ladies that work here are very friendly and kind.
The dillas are awesome and so are the tacos. Fresh made tortillas, chips and guacamole.
I ordered one of each dilla, (5 or 6 different kinds) a taco, a quesadilla, chips, salsa, and guacamole, multiple side orders of beans and rice for $ 27
Everything is tapas style and each plate is reasonable. Beans $ 1 rice $ 1 dillas and tacos range from $ 3 — $ 4
