The Arrangement

Staff is usually very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the selection seems to have waned the past few years. During the holiday season they have an over abundance of red and green decoration-​type items for sale, the kind you’d see at the giant Christmas Bazaar at the Expo. I wish they would carry more $ 10-​$ 40 GIFTS.
Prices all around are fair, and for clothes, you pay the expected boutique prices.
They have one of the best greeting card selections in town. For V-​Day they offered $ 12-​$ 16 chocolate bars, which was a little over-​the-​top and too profit minded.
In sum, it’s still a go-​to venue, but seems to have lost a step.

LOVE The Arrangement! Have been driving from SW Portland to this great Beaumont Wilshire district favorite since the ’80’s. So worth the drive. Great selection of quality items (many from local artisans) from cards and stationery to jewelry, assorted home and personal gift items and clothing. Wonderful customer service available to help but don’t hover. Definitely one of my favorite go to stores.

I’ve been shopping here a couple times a year for almost 20 years. Nice variety, unique inventory, and fair prices. Looking for a quick gift and card while in NE PDX, this is your place.

I agree with Karen A for the most part. I have been going to The Arrangement ever since it opened and it became my «go-​to» for cards, gifts of all kinds and sometimes clothing. However, I have noticed a shift in the past couple of years in a disappointing direction for me. The depth of merchandise is shrinking in the gift area, especially in lower price points. I’ve almost always had a «hit» in buying gifts for my little nieces and nephews, but yesterday looked at skimpily stocked shelves in this department and came away empty-​handed.

OK I don’t love Unilocal but I have to write a review seeing how many negatives there are out there!
I am not a pushover… I am very clear about what kind of service I expect from businesses. The staff and owner at The Arrangement have always been extraordinary. Some the best, most unique outfits I own came from there. I never fail to find the perfect gift or the perfect wrapping when I come in. And most importantly, the owner went above and beyond to fill an auction gift basket for my daughter, all for free with a smile.
It is my go-​to for every shower, baby or wedding, and sometimes I stop in to see what’s new just for fun. I have no idea what was going on with the other folks posting, but that has NEVER been my experience and I’ve been there probably 20 times.

This is a good place to buy a present for your mom or grandma. A lot of it is overpriced but there are some reasonable things if you look around. I would give it another star and a half or so but a very aggressive sales woman followed us around the whole time. We couldn’t tell if she thought we were going to shoplift or was just trying to pester us into buying things. Either way it didn’t make for a very comfortable shopping experience.

Very cute shop with loads of cards, French ribbon, Christmas ornaments and unique quality gifts. However the staff seems to feel that their time is more valuable than their customers money… Is it just me or is it strange that ringing me up is an imposition after watching me like a hawk as I browsed?

This is a short and sweet one one. The Arrangement is a small gift shop of gifts you’d buy for your mother or mother-​in-​law. Blankets, quotations, soap, candles, world music cds, tchochkes. Stuff that only a mother could love, or at least they show the expression that they love it, put it on the window sill to never be moved again. Or they regift it and get it to someone else. Am I right?
There’s nothing wrong with places like this at all, just not my cup of tea.

I’ve always liked this store. Currently, in love with it. Not just the cute/​quality gifts, accessories, wrapping and cards, but the incredibly thoughtful employees! I called last night JUST at 6 o’clock, to see what the hours were. (I had been stuck in traffic for well over an hour, figured they closed at 5, and I would be out of luck). A gal answered the phone and said they had just locked the doors. Well, she must’ve heard the distress in my voice, because she offered to stay a couple minutes to let my come by and purchase a gift bag!!! The 2 ladies working were so sweet when I showed up! Amazing customer service! I could not be more grateful! (I know the last thing I want to do after a shift at work is stay there even longer!!). Big kudos!!!

I have been in the neighborhood for almost three years now, and I can’t believe I just discovered this place. You can get your gift, wrapping, and a card in one shop!
And wait a GD moment, they sell Weston Wear here? I couldn’t believe it! I will definitely be waiting for more dresses (and maybe a sale or two).

Good bye, so long. After 12 years of shopping at this store, it is over. An in-​person visit, a follow-​up telephone call and a letter (written on paper purchased there) requesting a donation for a fund-​raiser for a local NE nonprofit, were all ignored. No response, nada. A simple «we’re sorry» would have sufficed, but to totally disregard my request is inexcusable and rude. it is over for me as well as family and friends.

Wait this is a women’s clothing shop? I say no it is a gift shop, otherwise that means I am giving 5 stars to a women’s clothing shop, and face it that is just scary for an adult male to do.
This is my go to place for cards and gifts on the go. I will say most of those gifts have been for women, usually related to me, however I have not purchased clothes.
They will also wrap it up for you, you are in and out and ready to go straight to wherever your gift needs to end up.

Yesterday The Arrangement saved the day, yet again! I needed to buy earrings for a bride (the same day of her wedding) after learning she forgot about earrings. The woman who helped me was delightful and after I chose the perfect pair of earrings she wrapped them beautifully for me! I knew the earrings were a success when the bride opened them and burst into tears (a very Happy cry!). I’ve always had a wonderful experience with the staff, of all ages! I’ve even taken many gifts purchased elsewhere in to pay for their beautiful wrapping job! I can’t say enough about this place. I Lurve it!

I hate Malls so I go to the Arrangement for my birthday and holiday gifts. The card selection is great, you can spend and hour just looking at very special cards from funny to beautiful. Most of my clothing is from there and I always get compliments on my wardrobe, Oh and don’t forget the jewelry or gifts for the grandchildren
The service is great from helping picking the special gift or a piece of clothing. If something doesn’t look that great on you they let you know and will suggest maybe another item or say better not buy today. I appreciate the honesty.

I have recently had some great service at The Arrangement and wanted to acknowledge that I’ve noticed a positive change in the level of service since the last review I wrote.
I went in a few days before I was hosting a bridal shower because I realized that no one had purchased party favors or prizes for the games. I brought my 5 year old daughter in about 20 minutes before they were closing (I know, I’d hate to see me walking through the door at that time of day but they were gracious and helpful.)
I had a vague idea of what I wanted to create for favors but wasn’t entirely sure. The girl who worked there was so helpful and she spent the last 20 minutes they were open with me brainstorming ideas. She was good at multi-​tasking with my daughter while we were talking through ideas and she came up with some great options. I was able to get most of the supplies for the favors, gifts to use as prizes and cardstock to use as well. I’m really glad I went there. I’ll try not to do it again at the last minute but I’ll definitely go back in when I need help in this arena.

Great gift place. It’s always my «Moment Of Panic» shopping stop. AS in…“Oh dear… I have to be at a baby shower in 45 minutes”.
Agree with the service from the previous review. The older gals can be very hard to work with, but then I have grown up with most of them and have just learned to seek out the younger staff.
